Why did the actors go on strike to show support for the writers but the writers aren't going on strike to show support for the actors?

The actors didn’t go on strike because of the writers, they have their own issues they are striking for. And the writers are now employed again and have to work

Because the actors are on strike to keep from all but 2-3 people losing their jobs to AI content. They've been on the edge of a big strike for over a decade

I think anon is alluding to the fact that the actors at one point could have ended their strike, but very publicly chose not to in solidarity with the writers.

Then the writers got their deal and bounced. Since the actors already had a deal presented to then earlier, everyone assumed the actors strike would end shortly after the writers.

Negotiations then collapsed and now the actors are fricked. Meanwhile, the writers are not supporting the actors. It's really fricked up if anybody took the time to understand what happened.

It's technically illegal for unions to strike in support of one another. In this case both SAG and the WGA had individual reasons to justify their strike but now that the WGA signed a new contract it's illegal to stand with the actors strictly for solidarity. The actors knew this already.

None of them would ever support the crew and IATSE workers get paid worse than all of them and there's a lot more of them on every set

What you want is your ideas commissioned, you aren't able to understand artistic nuance and you probably are on the autism spectrum.

Some of it looks pretty decent if you don't examine it too closely. This would have been unthinkable just 5 years ago. Imagine how good AI art will be in another 5 years.

The seethe AI art caused in "creative" types is delightfully cathartic after more than a decade of those very same people gloating about how all those truck drivers, farmers, and factory workers need to "learn to code".

I don't think people going to art galleries and people saying "learn to code" are the same people.

There's a no strike clause in their contract, so if they have a job they have to go back to work. There's a bunch of jobless WGA members still walking with SAG, though

How'd they go on strike without getting fired in the first place? Or was there really no writers strike at all? Bunch of lying morons, the lot of you.

Their contract ran out. They can go on strike again in 2026 when their new contract runs out.
