This. The basic idea is that when the timeline shifts only memories remain and there is no physical proof. The idea is that some parts of memory work at the quantum level - much like how lithium works as a medicine. So if time travel or something exists that can change timelines, random memory fragments would be the only thing that would exist from that timeline. Physical proof would never exist.
