The original had no mains. Even the bunnies just hosted. The episodes were so short that everyone had at least one episide around them. Fifi had several. There was one where Fifi could't repel Elmyra because tomato juice blocked her smell. There was also that three way she did with Calamity and Beeper to name a few.

I never really got what the whole joke with her character was supposed to be in the old show. i knew it was some kind of pun or making fun of a celebrity, but I never knew what it was about.

Shirley the Loon was also used to make a bunch of hippie jokes that the right could find funny. There were a couple characters in the 90s with that function. Cadpig from 101 Dalmatians comes to mind.

I vaguely remember this episode. Plucky got hospitalized (even tho he's a toon) and had 3 visitors. Babs, Buster and Shirly. Babs was the only one that brought him a gift. And Hampton never even showed up.

Its more nuance than that. No one likes Plucky except Babs. Plucky acts like a jerk all the time but Babs thinks he's fun. The episode doesn't even show why. If the show lasts long enough, maybe we'll find out why. This is ironic because in the original, Babs and Plucky had so much friction. Buster sometimes even needed to protect one from the other.
I haven't watch this yet (just some minor clips here and there and quickly looked a a clip up and boy do I already regret it.

Being an artist myself (picrel is the only Looney Tunes related thing I have that I really wanna show), decided that I'm going to try and make TTL versions of Julie, Slappy and Skippy.
I'm honestly somewhat undecided on what Slappy could wear as a teacher, so if I could get some suggestions from you guys that can influence how I draw her then that'd be great. For now I know what to do with Julie so I'm beginning with her, can't wait to eventually show the final results (even though it's just going to be mid doodles really).
You need to starting studying fundies if you want to improve. That said that's not too bad for a beginner artist.

I'm still confused why they chose to fill up the background character roster with literal no-bodies and not tiny toon versions of looney tunes that never got one. Like, there was a slug guy at the pizza party. He could have been easily replaced with Hector Bulldog's student.
What really detracts from this show is it's not two to three short cartoons with a connecting wrap around. There's no parodies. (Though, thank god for that, I think the only one who could do spot on impressions was Tess.). And they're trying to recapture the Looney Tune Show slice of life stuff, but since they don't have the same writers, it's a slog to get through.
The thing is that the original team behind Tiny Toons was forced to do this by Erin Gibson herself instead of letting the original team have their baby back.
That is why all of us are upset.
It's Warner Bros' main cash cow right now, and Rick and Morty in Japan is just as big as Powerpuff Girls was back in it's hay day (hence why we got Powerpuff Girls Z) as it's part of Netflix Japan's top 10 shows.
Is anyone really surprised its bad? We knew about this a long time ago. We knew it would be a bomb. We kinda hoped maybe it would be salvageable, but its not.
This did happen because of Erin Gibson, otherwise TMS/Telecom would have got it's baby back and Rick and Morty: The Anime wouldn't exist.

The left is a properly formed body, good legs and arms. Its what TMS and Startoons always strove for when drawing these characters. Bless the animators who worked on that scene.
The right is so much I hate about modern cartoon design, Dot suffered the same in the reboot. Cereal bow bottom and legs that just jettison out. No form of hips. Legs also lack form, just sticks that get larger towards the foot (hate that shit). No sigh of chest not even a slight bump. Arms suffer the same problem as the legs, including fat tumor hands like she got stung by bees. Beestring hands. Whoever drew the right should be shot and get out of the industry.
It's amazing how much better that looks, and how a few good changes make it look proper.
The tail should sit right above the butt tho, following the base of the spine. It looks like an egg-shaped white bun poop is coming out of her butt.
You have Wang, and especially Startoons, to thank for that. There's an old interview with Jon McClenahan, Startoon's founder, where someone actually went and asked him why Babs is so much bustier in his episodes, and he said something along the lines of "I might have a crush on her, haha".

One thing that bothers me about nuBab's design is the way her ear bows are drawn. Every other character with a bow as the bow knot drawn on, but not Babs. Why? >Stylization? >Streamlining? >Laziness?

I actually like this. It's very different from Tiny Toon Adventure, but I like it.
Two problems:
1. Babs Bunny in the original was an incredibly iconic character. I don't expect nuBabs to be the same as her, but it's a little hard not to compare at all, and she doesn't hold a candle to the wacky big and zany screen presence.
2. It seems like a lot of the female characters have their thing being that they're all X-treme awesome athletes that shred with their boards and it's it's a little repetitive? Being perfect at everything isn't funny. It's kind of Poochie the Rappin' Dog.

Yeah this is...annoying. What makes characters funny is there flaws, they can still be lovable and capable, but it's not funny to just unironically have them be as Poochie called himself "I'm a kung-fu hippie from gangsta city, you're the fool I pity, c'mon get busy!" I mean, that was the ENTIRE joke of the Itchy and Scratchy and Poochy show.
Babs in the original was a lovable and big personality who could kick ass and save the day when needed, she won maybe 50% of the time against Buster, but she was still a funny character and her funnier episode involved her being a frickup, though sometimes she could learn a lesson and overcome that. It made her entertaining and relatable. Fifi and Shirley were also flawed though could also come through.
When you see a female character on the screen and know that character is going to be in the right, resolve the issue, and have no outstanding flaws, it kills the mood. I don't know where this meme about women not being able to make mistakes or can't lose came from but it needs to be squashed.
I was afraid they would do this with the episode where Babs and Plucky had the anvil class. I was expecting Babs to be always right and contantly praised while Plucky always got anviled as a butt of a joke. But it didn't happen. They both got anviled and even needed to work together to pass. Imagine that? A man and a woman working together because they need each other in 2023. This reboot is not the best thing in animation right now but I don't hate it because at least it tries to have common sense.

Never liked Babs x Buster either. Feels like the female character is always gender bent version of main lead. Lola Bunny, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, whoever the girl woodpecker is, etc. I know Babs broke the mold by having her own personality in the original but the basis was the same. Its more nuance than that. No one likes Plucky except Babs. Plucky acts like a jerk all the time but Babs thinks he's fun. The episode doesn't even show why. If the show lasts long enough, maybe we'll find out why. This is ironic because in the original, Babs and Plucky had so much friction. Buster sometimes even needed to protect one from the other.

I have said this before, they might as well have made a new show with different new characters. The character dynamics are so different in this reboot it holds NOTHING in common to the old show cept the faint touch of a name. That's it. And its fricking awful.

Being an artist myself (picrel is the only Looney Tunes related thing I have that I really wanna show), decided that I'm going to try and make TTL versions of Julie, Slappy and Skippy.
I'm honestly somewhat undecided on what Slappy could wear as a teacher, so if I could get some suggestions from you guys that can influence how I draw her then that'd be great. For now I know what to do with Julie so I'm beginning with her, can't wait to eventually show the final results (even though it's just going to be mid doodles really).

I'm still confused why they chose to fill up the background character roster with literal no-bodies and not tiny toon versions of looney tunes that never got one. Like, there was a slug guy at the pizza party. He could have been easily replaced with Hector Bulldog's student.
What really detracts from this show is it's not two to three short cartoons with a connecting wrap around. There's no parodies. (Though, thank god for that, I think the only one who could do spot on impressions was Tess.). And they're trying to recapture the Looney Tune Show slice of life stuff, but since they don't have the same writers, it's a slog to get through.

These cartoon proportions are very unstable.
The left is a properly formed body, good legs and arms. Its what TMS and Startoons always strove for when drawing these characters. Bless the animators who worked on that scene.
The right is so much I hate about modern cartoon design, Dot suffered the same in the reboot. Cereal bow bottom and legs that just jettison out. No form of hips. Legs also lack form, just sticks that get larger towards the foot (hate that shit). No sigh of chest not even a slight bump. Arms suffer the same problem as the legs, including fat tumor hands like she got stung by bees. Beestring hands. Whoever drew the right should be shot and get out of the industry.

I actually like this. It's very different from Tiny Toon Adventure, but I like it.
Two problems:
1. Babs Bunny in the original was an incredibly iconic character. I don't expect nuBabs to be the same as her, but it's a little hard not to compare at all, and she doesn't hold a candle to the wacky big and zany screen presence.
2. It seems like a lot of the female characters have their thing being that they're all X-treme awesome athletes that shred with their boards and it's it's a little repetitive? Being perfect at everything isn't funny. It's kind of Poochie the Rappin' Dog.
I guess to be fair it's only Lola, Sweetie, and Granny but all of them have a strong Poochie the Rappin' Dog feel. ANd the joke with Poochie was that being radical, X-treme, and awesome and perfect and a Mary Sue and everyone loves him and talks about how awesome he is every time he appears made him a horrible character.
Again, I like the show, but this really handicaps those characters, or could Sweetie seems to have some problems, at least.

Yeah this is...annoying. What makes characters funny is there flaws, they can still be lovable and capable, but it's not funny to just unironically have them be as Poochie called himself "I'm a kung-fu hippie from gangsta city, you're the fool I pity, c'mon get busy!" I mean, that was the ENTIRE joke of the Itchy and Scratchy and Poochy show.
Babs in the original was a lovable and big personality who could kick ass and save the day when needed, she won maybe 50% of the time against Buster, but she was still a funny character and her funnier episode involved her being a frickup, though sometimes she could learn a lesson and overcome that. It made her entertaining and relatable. Fifi and Shirley were also flawed though could also come through.
When you see a female character on the screen and know that character is going to be in the right, resolve the issue, and have no outstanding flaws, it kills the mood. I don't know where this meme about women not being able to make mistakes or can't lose came from but it needs to be squashed.
I was afraid they would do this with the episode where Babs and Plucky had the anvil class. I was expecting Babs to be always right and contantly praised while Plucky always got anviled as a butt of a joke. But it didn't happen. They both got anviled and even needed to work together to pass. Imagine that? A man and a woman working together because they need each other in 2023. This reboot is not the best thing in animation right now but I don't hate it because at least it tries to have common sense.
