There are quite a number of women who welcome large-chested characters because they're secure enough about their own bodies or have big boobs themselves. It's just a loud and specific set of women who dislike them.
We used to be a country that all our big dog girl breasts from Japan and Korea while our local animators back home gave all the characters ugly thin faces and made them point all the time. God Bless the U.S.
It was animated by the Japanese. Not just any Japanese, but the best Japanese. Why? Because they bankrupted themselves making Akira, and needed to do outsource work to keep themselves alive. It's a fluke moment in time that probably won't ever happen again.
That said, the problem is also one of skill and philosophy (as it pertains to animation). Just look at this trailer. The most "animated" portion comes at 0:13. All it is is just an overdone facial reaction. That's where they decided they should blow their frame budget. Why are we supposed to think that's impressive? Why do these animators think that's impressive? It's dumb priorities all around.
I don't blame the nutters "awakened" by this. Moreso I blame the animators for doing it. I don't blame people for acting on basic sexual insitncts,I blame the creators who knew exactly what they were doing with 13 year old characters. Note this is not a tiny toons exclusive things this degeneracy was prevalent amongst Leon Schlesinger's boys as well. Especially Chuck Jones.
What motivated them to draw her like that? It’s not just the shadows, it’s the way she’s looking away from the subject with a half-finished stock happy expression. I also remember Shirley’s movements being super spastic in that scene, so I guess they were going out of their way to freak the producers out by then.
The composition and framing in these trailers are starting to bug me more than the drawings and animation. The characters feel like clipart. The entire show looks like the activity page on the back of a theme restaurant kids menu, where characters are placed haphazardly around a maze.
That's creative. They just used a blanket to give this cartoon cat some curves. Look at the animation detail on how her hands move while she dances. They don't make it like this anymore.

Yeah, I've been trying to perfect this for awhile. Anyways the good news is I can easily apply the filter now but for me to make Buster and Babs look like the old show I have to manually edit every frame which takes time. Here's what it looks like in motion
Animation liked using thicker outlines because of low resolution screens like crt and when reception was a factor before cable tv. Now its just a style preference. Having really thin outlines with no cell shading makes things look flat.
I have got to say, the biggest improvement I see here is absolutely the thicker lines. Really makes the cohesion of the overall piece much easier to read.
I was completely unaware of how much a noise affect gives all the characters such a nice texture.

The composition and framing in these trailers are starting to bug me more than the drawings and animation. The characters feel like clipart. The entire show looks like the activity page on the back of a theme restaurant kids menu, where characters are placed haphazardly around a maze.
That's creative. They just used a blanket to give this cartoon cat some curves. Look at the animation detail on how her hands move while she dances. They don't make it like this anymore.

Yeah, I've been trying to perfect this for awhile. Anyways the good news is I can easily apply the filter now but for me to make Buster and Babs look like the old show I have to manually edit every frame which takes time. Here's what it looks like in motion

I know is just a filter but it looks better with darker Colors and stronger lines
Animation liked using thicker outlines because of low resolution screens like crt and when reception was a factor before cable tv. Now its just a style preference. Having really thin outlines with no cell shading makes things look flat.
How are you doing these filters?

I have got to say, the biggest improvement I see here is absolutely the thicker lines. Really makes the cohesion of the overall piece much easier to read.
I was completely unaware of how much a noise affect gives all the characters such a nice texture.
