Honestly even if the characters are older the reboot still won't have blatant sexualization or fluid appealing animation that gave the original such a horny response. It won't have the horny influence of the old west or east so it will have to get by on character design alone.
We have long known the characters and know they have people that are already interested in them in a horny way. Many shows skirt by character design alone even without pre-existing interest this has.
This having them aged up and in a college setting just furthers any type of sexualized scenario people want because that is the perfect setting for it, even if it doesn't have as great animation or teasing moments that rile people up
I haven't seen any proof that they're supposed to be aged up. I did see articles saying that they're supposed to be college-aged, but none of those had primary sources, as far as I can tell. I think the college-aged thing might be a misinterpretation of the setting, which has always been called Looniversity. If anyone has better info, go ahead.
This school is an actual university, not some middle/high school. They have dorms and a student lounge and Dizzy has a job. In the leaked episode, Max got in by faking sports credentials.

I don't understand why every modern re-imagining of older cartoons always do this thing where they have super tiny line weights, often made to look even smaller by using shades of the infill colors in place of black, and the colors are all super saturated compared to the original, The colors to some extent I could see as just being them going off of old reference sheets or something and not accounting for the fact that told cel animation process resulted in everything darkening somewhat in the finished product, but even then it seems like they just crank that shit up like they think making everything way brighter will make their stuff look less lifeless.
The linework is really what gets me more than anything though. When things were hand drawn there was always some amount of variation to the line weights throughout everything whether intentional or not, but with digital linework it's like the artists just pick a line width and use that for 100% of everything they draw, it makes everything look so fricking flat. It's the same shit that looked so weirdly off about the PPG reboot (aside from all the moronic design choices and just general poor quality art)
It's just because the people in charge now are moronic and think older practices are antiquated
I doubt the people in charge or anyone involved knows any better or gives a shit, the probably just literally never learned about shit like varying line weights because it was something that happened more or less by accident, or at least just intuitively when drawing traditionally. Good artists will still figure that shit out when working digitally, but the people coming out of modern animation programs and working on projects like this aren't good artists. The color shit I'm guessing they legitimately just think looks better, I don't really know why younger artists think super bright low-contrast pastel colors for everything looks visually appealing, but that seems to be the case.

She lived in an abandoned car in a junk yard while Hampton lived in a super normal suburban house. But those houses probably aren't real anyway. They could just be "sets on stage" that they use to "film" their episodes. There's no way that TTL will get this nuance and they'll just be college kids.

The abdomen change is whatever, it could probably look closer from different angles, but it’s the single black paw pads that irk me. I thought one of the benefits of animating digitally is that you can keep small details like the bottom paw pads consistent, without spending a lot on retakes if they’re missing, colored incorrectly etc. I care more about bunny feet than the animators, which says more about me, but it’s still a blatantly lazy downgrade when noticed.
