People keep repeating this about the “no 50 year old white men” but if you look at the crew that built it, most of them are exactly that. I’m pretty sure he just said that for PR

How the frick can so many people work on a shitty sub like Titan?

For the money spend with workers and the price of the trip why didn't they make something a lot better?

          Anonymous

They couldn't make something better because they didn't have the money to pay actual submarine engineers. The dude was too greedy. That's why he pulled the "no I don't want old white men because of DIVERSITY!" card for good PR, because like 99% of established submarine architects and technicians that you might pay to build a private submarine are old men who got their skills from the military and then aged out, and they wouldn't stand for risking people's lives to make money like he was doing nor would they settle for a small paycheck since they know what their knowledge and retirement is worth.

All the middle-aged ones are still in contract with the military and thus can't be hired and so what you've got left is a few really good guys who left the military for higher salaries and young engineers who might know about engineering stuff but have no knowledge of subs.

It's a metal tube that used old constructions pipes as ballast, where the occupants had to all stand on one side of the tube to make it lean enough to drop the ballast. That's practically civil war era tech.

You don’t know this. I work at a place where management is all about DEI and what the guy said about no boring white men is more or less what I hear at every meeting. This is becoming an expected corporate sentiment and you can assume ulterior motives but more than likely he was just going along with the woke expectations to seem hip and diversity-loving.

This absolutely is a valid cultural criticism and you pretending it isn’t is just being obtuse. If he said “no blacks allowed” you wouldn’t be falling over yourself coming up with reasons why this isn’t ackshually what he meant.

write the plot of Titanic 2: the revange prompt: 5 billioners and a pilot in a small submarine trying to reach the titanic 4000m under the sea

    ChatGPT
    Title: Titanic 2: The Revenge

    Plot Summary:

In the highly anticipated sequel, "Titanic 2: The Revenge," we dive deep into the abyss of the ocean, where five billionaires and a skilled pilot embark on a daring mission to explore the remains of the legendary Titanic, lying approximately 4,000 meters beneath the sea's surface.

Years after the tragic sinking of the RMS Titanic, an enigmatic billionaire, Alexander Hartman, becomes obsessed with uncovering the mysteries that still surround the iconic ship. He assembles a team of individuals who share his passion for maritime history, engineering, and adventure.

The team comprises of Alexander Hartman, a charismatic and eccentric billionaire, known for his unyielding determination; Olivia Knight, a brilliant marine archaeologist who specializes in deep-sea exploration; William Blackwood, a talented engineer responsible for designing the high-tech submarine; Rachel Mitchell, a renowned oceanographer with an unmatched understanding of the underwater ecosystem; Benjamin Hayes, a fearless underwater photographer capturing stunning visuals; and Captain Nathan Thompson, a seasoned pilot with unmatched expertise in navigating treacherous depths.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology and a state-of-the-art submarine, the team sets out on their perilous journey, braving the crushing pressure and darkness of the deep sea. Their mission is to reach the resting place of the Titanic and unravel its remaining secrets.

As they descend further into the abyss, tension rises among the crew. Conflicting personalities, technical challenges, and unforeseen obstacles put their lives and the success of the mission at risk. The crew must overcome their differences and work together to ensure their safety and accomplish their goals.

      part 2

Once they finally reach the Titanic's location, they are awestruck by the grandeur and tragedy that lies before them. The team begins exploring the wreckage, unearthing artifacts, and piecing together the untold stories of those onboard. However, their presence awakens a malevolent force within the ocean depths, a vengeful spirit seeking justice for the ship's tragic fate.

As the crew delves deeper into the ship's history, they encounter inexplicable phenomena—mysterious whispers, eerie shadows, and inexplicable malfunctions of their equipment. It becomes clear that the vengeful spirit will stop at nothing to prevent them from unraveling the truth. The submarine is beset by a series of catastrophic events, testing the resilience and resourcefulness of the team.

Struggling to survive and complete their mission, the crew must confront their deepest fears, face their past traumas, and find a way to appease the vengeful spirit. With time running out and the submarine on the verge of destruction, they must unravel the dark secrets hidden within the Titanic before it claims their lives.

In "Titanic 2: The Revenge," the boundaries of exploration and human resilience are pushed to the limit. Will the crew emerge victorious, solving the mysteries of the Titanic and laying the vengeful spirit to rest? Or will they succumb to the same fate that befell the ill-fated ship over a century ago?

Funny how 10+ years ago James Cameron's $8m+ sub for the trench seemed (was) risky as hell. Only for this dipshit Titanic tour guy to go hold my beer, I'll show you risky!

Guess the cost of this sub. Guess the cost of titan.

Nta. I’m guessing in 2023 James Cameron’s sub would cost $50 million. I’m guessing this sub costs around $1 million.

One of the things is a lot of these purpose-built craft are not good for repeated dives. They have endurance limits and sometimes are just built one use. The Titan guys ignored all of this.

That's exactly why Virgin Oceanic or whatever scrapped their plans for this kind of thing, they couldn't design a sub that could make repeat journeys to the depths they wanted

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Titan_submersible_incident

    >The Titan has seven backup systems intended to return the vessel to surface in case of emergency, including ballast that can be dropped, a balloon, and thrusters. Some of the backup systems are designed to work even if all aboard the submersible are unconscious; there are sandbags held by hooks that dissolve after a certain number of hours in the water and release the sandbags, letting the vessel float to the surface.[1][20]

AM I TO BELIEVE THAT ALL 7 BACKUPS FAILED AT THE SAME FRICKING TIME?

      >AM I TO BELIEVE THAT ALL 7 BACKUPS FAILED AT THE SAME FRICKING TIME?
They will if the sub imploded.

They all failed because the sub imploded.
      No comms
      Not surfacing
And carbon fiber should have been a dead giveaway
They are probably checking nearby sonars for the implosion soundwave.
