Titans: Beast World - What Went Wrong?

>Titans already getting an event after only 5 issues
>No tie-in issues from ongoing titles that aren't written by Taylor, only anthology stories from one-shots
>Waller being forced again as DC's big bad who wants to kill superheroes for reasons
>Doctor Hate, despite being heavily implied to be a black man is actually just Raven's evil side
>Event sold so awful that even X-Men Blue: Origins (the comic that had Mystique and Destiny have sex and give birth to Nightcrawler) outsold the first issue of the main event series

To get attention, they are people who have nothing interesting or funny to share so they always go that way. Youtube is full of this for video games.

DC has been on a losing streak when it comes to events
      >Infinite Floptier
      >Flop State
      >Filler for Earth-3
      >Trial of the LMAOzons
      >Snooze War
      >Mid Crisis on Infinite Earths
      >Laxative Planet
      >Yawn of DC
      >Flop Terrors
      >Batcat Boatstreet War
      >Bloat World

Compared to the most recent events, Beast World was good.

Infinite Frontier was a branding exercise and a status quo reset, not a traditional comic book event. Same with Dawn of DC.
The rest were all shit events/crossovers.

There is a two tiered system to comic fans, people who read them and people who buy them.

Taylor’s books are quite popular in real life. You should try to exit your bias filled bubble.

Not really. You’ll find few people engaging with them these days let alone positively.

the event itself was mostly mediocre with Waller's continued character assassination being the worst part. And Raven being Dr Hate does kinda suck since it, Brother Eternity, and the Beast Girl are making it obvious that Taylor is trying to make an Injustice League/Evil Titans group for the team.

Yeah that's the one thing I liked about Beast World.
It was awful when they interrupted tons of titles for that Knight Terror event, most of them having JUST relaunched.

It would have been more interesting if Evil Waller tried to get an evil version of the JLA to fight the Titans. At the very least, then the whole storyline wouldn't have to end with a tedious series of 1v1 mirror match-ups.

It was fine, Events as a concept are shit anyway, they're a blackhole that usually fricks up at least one of the people pulled ins story.

I like this "event" because we got a lot of furry versions of the characters. Though they didn't do enough with it,

The plot of the first issue was rushed to hell and back. It would have worked better if they copied Marvel's Axis and how it started with a few issues of World War Hate.

Also, the Doctor Hate reveal was lame.

DC events haven't been the same after Death Metal. Every single one after was a flop.

Comic events should only be one month long
Just have an issue every week of the main storyline. Obviously this would require a lot of lead time but they could plan ahead for such things

That’s the part of the Santa story from December I liked the most. When I saw the first issue I was peeved cause I assumed it was gonna end in like March but seeing it was weekly I immediately bought it.

That being said it seems they didn’t plan that all too well because there was a fill in artist for issue 4 of 4 and that was moronic. I’d have actually preferred a few weeks delay for that cause now if and when it’s collected it’ll look even dumber and it would have been a great evergreen Christmas comic.

DC forgot that Christmas was in December that year so they fell behind

Hope they put some of the other older Christmas issues in the collection too. Like the dc comics presents Superman meets Santa (vs the toy man). That was a great issue with beautiful art

The Titans aren’t cool anon. They’re the equivalent of the people who peaked in high school but can never let it go.

The best thing to come out of this was jacked bunny Harley. I'm really surprised there's no rule 34 out of her. Will they ever be an explanation as to why she was so huge, and why one of her pupils was a pinpoint?

my biggest problem is that nothing in the story used the animal stuff. It could have been just another zombie/rage virus and nothing would have changed

I didn't like how the super heroes didn't have anything resembling a plan besides "don't let a big starfish crash in to the earth". It seemed like they would have just been fighting animal people forever if Waller didn't step in.

Also, people like Black Adam or Power Girl should be strong enough to just keep their fricking mouths shut so they should never be in any danger.

Dr. Hate wasn't implied to be a black man. They were implied to be male, though.

The issue with Beast World was that the writers wasted an interesting concept to rehash two tired plotlines: Raven turns evil and a Titan betrays the team.
