They picked the Ultimate universe because they could pull off his origin in modern day and still use source material. Almost all of the super hero movies use concepts from Ultimate universe. The only major variance in the MCU is Captain America is the first super soldier instead of Fury. If only the second Spider Man reboot could have pulled off the larger aspects of the Ultimate Spider Man origin. I would have liked the Parker-Brock Venom experiments before Peter's birth that created the symbiote more coherently than the set up we got with the deleted scenes.

The poet laments his complex and tragic life and wishes he was a simple sea creature with claws like a crab or a lobster on the bottom of the ocean away from civilization never knowing it existed. Doc Ock also identifies with a sea creature (octopus), is a tragic figure, ends up deep in the sea, and his tentacles have claw attachments.

      Anonymous

This. Nolan's movies are midwit le serious crime dramas that just happen to have people in costumes in them. Raimi's stuff is pure superhero SOVL and honors the character with sincerity, admiration and dedication to his portrayal. Also, it has some of the most human scenes i've seen in movies, period. That scene where Peter tells Aunt May he's responsible for Ben's death is *chef's kiss*. The effort and care they put in these films even if people back then would have settled for something decent and half-way fun like the X-Men movies says something. Great movies.

Talent train, new directors and outsourcing to 90 iq indians.
The talented people who knew how lighting works go work at google, nvidia etc for way more money and less hours.
Also older directors knew how to shoot a scene and allow for CGI to be inserted into it after while taking lighting conditions/framing etc etc into account.

Transformers 2007 vs Rise of the Beasts is a good example. Bay shot the scenes on an actual camera on location, worked in practical effects whenever possible and had a prime ILM help guide him. The difference is noticeable even to normie morons.

This is what the new Spiderman movies completely fail to grasp. The most interesting thing about Peter Parker is his relatability, NOT his over the top suit and iron man-esque gadgets.

Making Peter a quippy zoomer with an easy as frick high school life takes away from what makes Peter interesting. You really feel Peter's struggle in the older movies, and how he desperately tries to balance his alter ego with his every-day life

One of the main character traits of spiderman is that he's broke and struggles to keep his life a float. The ironman jr shit completely disregards all that.

        >Flash in the new movies is a beta that nobody likes whose jabs at Peter come off like petty insecurity even to the other characters

It's not even so much a bad casting decision (though I don't think it's great) as it is the actual writing though. They could have made a more nerdy Flash mogging Peter in school even at the things he's supposed to be good at and enjoys because he can't study as much work well.

The Batman is fricking ASS. Terribly written boring piece of shit with some cringe inducing performances. Only saving grace is the cinematography and some of the music.

So I was going to make a post on my iPhone, and for the hell of it started clicking the middle button repeatedly. Lmfao my post had nothing to do with Covid all I said so far was “1 > 2 > 3”
    >Nine and the only one that has been on the list for the past year and I have no clue how many of those people have died or died in that time and they have not even gotten a single shot in their lives so I’m just not really worried because I’m just a bit scared about it because I’m scared to get sick again but I’m just scared to be around them because they are sick so I’m not really worried anymore I just want them and I’m not worried that they will die because I’m not worried because I’m scared of it but I’m not worried because I’m not worried I just don’t know if they will die and I’m not worried because I’m not worried but I’m …..

I mean Raimi and Nolan, idk which one. Spider-man maybe me more enjoyable overall but TDK definitely had better heights and a better conclusion.

the aspect of him trying to make money as a pizza boy or a photographer made him so much more relatable vs just being some highschooler

picrel i was a skinny elementary school kid when i saw this and thought it was so cool seeing him beat up some mega roided out guy, the flash could have done this angle too

I love that this actually looks like a makeshift first attempt at a costume idea. It's just a simple hoodie, sweatpants, mask, and gloves with a spray painted logo.
Simple, practical, and realistic for a broke highschool kid.

i always thought it was a bit strange how they completely glossed over how spiderman actually got his proper suit. who made it? peter? how?

        Anonymous

Presumably he saved up money for decent fabrics. He could've taken it to a costume maker and told them it was for a cosplay.
I find it more believable that he made the suit on his own rather than the high tech web shooters. Which is why Raimi tried to memory hole this.

I've come to realize the reason Spider-Man 3 didn't work is that for the most part Peter was happy and everybody loved Spider-Man. That is simply not how it works.

Spider-Man 2 works because when Peter Parker drops his books, 3 people bash him in the head while he goes to picks them up. The movie just keeps beating and beating on the guy, which makes it feel all the more gratifying when he finally gets a slice of chocolate cake.

Watching old classic capeshit like this just makes me wonder what people enjoy in the new movies.

Even if you didn't care for the story or dialogue just the costume and set design, practical effects, goofy but entertaining performances and score made the movies enjoyable.

But new capeshit has ugly halloween costumes, video game CGI effects, a bland score that sounds AI generated and soulless visuals with no identity. There is just NOTHING there.

Every Danny Elfman score sounds the same. I think you might be undercutting your point here.

Because it's not "capekino", it was just a movie that had to compete with other movies and didn't have a guaranteed box office return from armies of manchildren. It had to stake its own claim in cinema meaning it had to be interesting.
