How is this best soundtrack? It's a few memorable tracks, pop music and some tracks borrowed from Ifukube without his knowledge. In the next movie he showed how it's done.
Not even close, it just sounds like some shit that dude didn’t use for Dragon Quest. Now ‘84, that’s a soundtrack. I always thought it was kind of lame that they went back to Ifukube for the remainder of Heisei after Biollante. It worked during the Showa era, but it just comes off as hokey in a more modern setting.
The only leak that we know for now was accurate was the "zero" thing. Probably a references to the movie being set before any other movie in the series.
>smallest Godzilla

shit
I want him to be short enough so we can feel threatened. Because giant Goji is fine and all, but he's an act of god, not a predator out to get me.
>the smallest Godzilla ever made
Considering how fricking terrible it was making Earth so big, I'd consider this a good thing. >and be radically different
Considering how fricking great it was making Shin so different, I'd consider this a good thing.
Even if it's a stand alone I want them to make a movie that realistically could get sequels. So no experiments. And preferably no copy of 1954 Godzilla.
Godzilla is tied to the Castle Bravo test. So this one could actually be about Hiroshima. Except it's not that relevant. Even Honda who always complained about the direction of the franchise understood that he can mean different things to people from different times. The only nuclear thing relevant nowadays is the nuclear energy which everyone loves.
The director was like the heir apparent for like15 years before he got the job. I'm actually more in mood for the "updated" 60s or 70s movie. Not really cheesy just very fantasy-like and sometimes with something more to say. I don't think you can nail the "single Godzilla destroying Japan" even harder. It's been done and it's been done perfectly before.
I think toho knows what the audience wants this time, a new time period is interesting alone and MAYBE we’ll see a new monster of sorts(or an old one we haven’t seen in ages)
Would be cool. Or maybe something less crazy but with multiple monsers also having a role in the story but because it's set right after the way it could be seen as too disrespectful if it was a fun adventure fantasy film.
Possibly or it could even be a limited/wide release since Toho's USA branch is getting more serious lately. Last November 3, I got the impression that the new movie will release simultaneously worldwide, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part.
This is the result of three days of work of Akira Ifukube. Even with reused tracks (but still updated/modified) this is unthinkable. And I wonder if it would've been as good if he had more time.
Monkey free but it could be just a remake of the first film with uninteresting Godzilla. Hopefully not because a remake of '54 wouldn't even be relevant today unless there was some other Fukushima recently.

I don't like the direction Toho has been going since Shin. Shin simply was not a Godzilla movie because it didn't have Godzilla in it, but an original monster with the Godzilla label slapped onto it, and I don't care how unpopular that opinion is. Since then, Toho's content has only gotten even more whacked out and disconnected from the original films.
I hope that this new movie goes in a more traditional direction but I'm not holding out hope.

The world’s favorite hundred foot tall rampaging kaiju is about to make landfall just in time for the holiday movie season, according to an announcement today from Japan’s Toho International. Godzilla Minus One, the first Japanese-produced Godzilla film since Shin Godzilla in 2016, will debut in Japan on November 3, 2023 and will get a theatrical release in the United States on December 1. It is just one part of a broader plan for Godzilla to rampage through American media and pop culture in coming months.
“Set in a post-war Japan, Godzilla Minus One will once again show us a Godzilla that is a terrifying and overwhelming force, which you already get a sense of from the teaser trailer and poster,” said Koji Ueda, President of Toho International. “The concept is that Japan, which had already been devastated by the war, faces a new threat with Godzilla, bringing the country into the ‘minus.’”
Ueda said the film, directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki, will share continuity with 2016’s Shin Godzilla, a cult favorite that ranks #4 on Rotten Tomatoes’ all-time ratings for the franchise, just below the 1954 original.
“Godzilla is one of the most globally licensed Japanese characters, and he’s a pop cultural ambassador with as much recognition as cuter mascots like Hello Kitty or Pikachu,” said Peter Tatara, director of film at the Japan Society and an expert in Japanese pop culture. “While there isn’t a new Godzilla movie every year, there’s a multimillion dollar merchandise empire that’s producing new toys, apparel, plush, games, and much more perpetually entertaining fans and generating monster-sized revenue. Godzilla is one of Japan’s most enduring characters and a tentpole of both domestic and international licensing.”
>Will share continuity with Shin
Most likelya translation error as it was also said that this would be the start as the first reiwa film series of sorts, plus Shin goji already had his own origin and would only result in a massive continuity snarl. This one looks a lot like the one seen in Always 2 as predicted and similar to the one seen in that ride
It did say that it fits into the reiwa era of the characters storyline(Like Showa and heisei, millennium as well but likely a reference to the kiryu duology) so take that if you will.

that seems really dumb and I hope it's a translation error, anything Shin withouth Anno or Higuchis involvement doesn't seem right
>will once again show us a Godzilla that is a terrifying and overwhelming force
I sleep. Unless it's just used in a broad sense. If not then we have either the 1954 movie or Shin Godzilla we don't need another one. We can say that G'54 and Shin were inspired by something but what about this one?
What about Godzilla 1984? There was some nuclear meltdown before the film was made and there was almost a nuclear war. Basically the premise of this new film sounds like basic b***h Godzilla plot that has been done perfectly before but they'll get easy praise if they keep the tone which is just so easy. That's not a challenge at all. It's treading water.
Godzilla 84 is thematic remake of the original, while ostensibly being in the same continuity. Nobody who likes Godzilla opposes a remake or another sort of revisiting of Godzilla's roots.
We've seen it before. The last Toho live action movie was that. This is safe bullshit and fart sniffing. There's nothing to explore. It'd be more daring if it had aliens or a big titted succubus monster. It doesn't even try to stay relevant. Return of Godzilla wasn't followed by Return of Godzilla 2 that was the same movie with a different Godzilla suit but tried to find its own theme. Bioengineering in this case. This new movie sounds like it's completelly chronologically out of place.

There has already been far more silly godzilla than serious godzilla, you have nothing to complain about.
I'm fine with this if true. This design looks fierce and it's basically a mix of Heisei + Legendary which are two top tier Goji designs. Going for this one is also playing safe but I don't really care, it's been too long since Toho put out a traditional Goji film, I miss that comfyness that only the big lizard can provide.
I want them to have a film with a more traditional design too and also something more interesting than what we've had before because this premise isn't it. So unless there's still a bug surprise for us in store or it's gonna be the most weirdly our of place film in the series.
They're probably going traditional with this one because they know it's gonna be hard to surpass Shin on the "uniqueness" factor. So maybe they're just warming up with something easy before the next crazy and outlandish Goji adventure.
That's why I wonder if, even if they're denying it, they want to leave the door open for a sequel because unless they're planning another hiatus what are they going to do next? Another reboot? This should go somewhere.
OFFICIAL GODZILLA SPOILERS HERE PLEASE DO NOT OPEN IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS New Godzilla film is set during the end of World War II, he is created from the atomic blasts at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Well, to be more precise, Godzilla is formed from the fused carcasses of the Japanese civilians killed in the attack at Hiroshima. The film’s tone is very similar to GMK’s, where Godzilla is a force of pain of those millions of lives thrown away in a pointless world war, and Godzilla is looking for revenge against the people/government that threw its previous lives to the wind. I mentioned earlier that Godzilla was created at Hiroshima, and that means that Nagasaki will have a very similar, yet distinct creature to Godzilla appear. Will it be a friend or foe to Godzilla and man kind, and is this a kaiju we have seen before? Only time will tell (translated 11/7/2023 radioTokyo broadcast)
Not even the first one was about that, you pleb. Google Daigo Fukuryū Maru.

Fukuryu Maru was a proximate incident that precipitated the movie, but what didn't entail Japanese cities getting wiped off the map by atomic fire, did it? That's what Godzilla is about.

Being a metaphor for the dangers of nukes is not the same as being about the actual bombings. Godzilla was NEVER about Hiroshima or Nagasaki, even if it represented the same danger.

>Godzilla annihilates cities with nuclear fire >b-but it's totally not about the bombs
Burger cope.
Kek, a secondary wants to sound smart. Let's see: >a prehistoric creature awoken by nuclear test after the war >a dinosaur mutated by nuclear test after the war >a vengeful gestalt of souls of people who died in the Pacific during WWII >a prehistoric creature that "eats" radiation >a highly mutagenic creature created by radiation leaks
Neither of them was created by the bombings of Japan.
You're an idiot, Godzilla was created to be an atomic bomb movie that would get past American censors. Godzilla was created to be commentary on the bombs, this is what Godzilla is for.
Now we can add >A body horror siphonophore colony of writing charred human flesh
He's Extra Spicy Soilent Green
Japanese viewers and critics would tear Toho a new butthole if they tried to disrespect the dead of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. You are delusional if you think they'd ever go that far.

They're going to do it and the Japanese public will celebrate it.
I don't think he's contesting a previous thematic link, but saying there's a difference between the original movie's allegory and Godzilla being comprised of melded together corpses of a real life even that was recent enough ago that it still has a meaningful place in Japanese society, including still-living survivors of that event. Even GMK's Godzilla being animated by the souls lost in the wake of Japanese imperialism is very different in affect even if the comment is similar.
>be japanese >die in horrible explosion caused by american attack on japan >get fused with other victims of american attack and turn into giant monster >attack japan
???
They could be mad at the Japanese government for starting the war to begin with and treating their civilians like cattle. Like how they wanted to keep fighting and ignore the victims of Hiroshima until the second bomb forced them to surrender.

That explains the people in the tail at the end of Shin.
>Like how they wanted to keep fighting and ignore the victims of Hiroshima until the second bomb forced them to surrender.
Even after the second bomb went off, officers in the Imperial Japanese Army tried to coup against the Emperor to prevent the surrender.
Sounds like a stupid and way, WAY too unsubtle version of the original film. We already got a disaster metaphor with Shin Godzilla, why can't they try something different?
You are completely ignorant. The last Japanese Godzilla movie used CGI, not rubber suits. Also the rubber suits looked great and the scale model destruction in the best of those movies was unrivaled S-tier effects.
it would actually somewhat validate the stupid Anno ending with the goji zombies
nothing will ever make up for the stupid tadpole with googly eyes, though
unless maybe they say that was just some other monster summoned by some other nip tragedies
>nothing will ever make up for the stupid tadpole with googly eyes
Shin Godzilla devastating Tokyo with his atomic breath attack completely vindicated and validated Shin Godzilla. The ending was icing on the cake.
Toho pulled a Marvel back in the 80's and sold their home video distribution rights outside of Japan/Asia to the highest bidders rather than retaining control. The rights to distribute the Heisei and Millennium movies in North America are retained by Sony as a result of the deal that gave us Tristar's 1998 Hollywood Godzilla movie, but those rights are gradually expiring. That's why the Sony blu-rays are going out of print. Maybe we'll get a Criterion Heisei boxset in two or three years if they acquire the distribution rights like they did for the Showa movies.
i refuse to believe that anyone who likes any era of nip Goji movies actually likes Shin Godzilla as a Godzilla movie

I like Shin Ultraman a lot, but aside from a couple of scenes the action isn't especially good. There isn't as much of a sense of scale as you might think; that's one drawback of CGI.

Fake fan, doesn't even know about Godzilla 1984
There has already been far more silly godzilla than serious godzilla, you have nothing to complain about.
>will share continuity with 2016’s Shin Godzilla
errr... what?
7/10
It’s a translation error, it’s not actually connected
is the title also a translation error?
I have a feeling this film is going to be a dud
There's nothing wrong with the title.
Godzilla Nuclear Winter will be the title
>shin godzilla was a fluke and we're going back to formuliac slop
nips blew it.
BRING BACK THE GOAT
>no trailer
Frick you guys
Here's a teaser
https://twitter.com/KaijuNewsOutlet/status/1678722313225732096
No, I mean a trailer that shows footage from the film
It did say 3:00pm EST unless they confused it with pacific time
Maybe they meant far eastern
wait 2h12m
KINO ALERT
KINO ALERT
KINO ALERT
>Godzilla grabs your mother by the arm like this
how do you respond without sounding mad?
Bro dodged a bullet thanks to Godzilla. Women will never understand.
did they?
yes
>tfw you will never frick a japanese woman while wearing a godzilla suit
years later people are still getting filtered by shin. amazing. truly the gift that keeps on giving. i kneel anno san...
Here is your Godzilla morons
Looks awesome, I'm very hype.
boring. i can't believe i actually like legendary more.
Is it cgi? Will it look bad?
Shin was cgi and looked great.
kino
Looks like a refined version of the ones seen in always 2 and the ride as predicted. Sweet
>Goes on the Internet
>Lies
Why would a man ever desire to commit such a deed? What drives him to it?
To be fair the poster looks like him as well
It's literally the ride Goji or other generic depiction slapped on top of the logo to create a crusty .jpg.
look brother this moron probably was just fooled by the image most likely not malicious
Frick you know it was the latter
Isn't that just the godzilla from the ride?
I'm fine with this if true. This design looks fierce and it's basically a mix of Heisei + Legendary which are two top tier Goji designs. Going for this one is also playing safe but I don't really care, it's been too long since Toho put out a traditional Goji film, I miss that comfyness that only the big lizard can provide.
I want them to have a film with a more traditional design too and also something more interesting than what we've had before because this premise isn't it. So unless there's still a bug surprise for us in store or it's gonna be the most weirdly our of place film in the series.
people were memeing about it being an isekai of a dude going back in time and i wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens.
This should go somewhere.
>slips and falls into a building
>AAAAAAAA FRICK YOU BUILDING
he's literally me
haha my dog does this, she pushes this big ball around the yard and when it hits a bush she gets mad and rips branches off the bush
The walk home from the pub can be tricky. I've broken ribs doing that.
Only time will tell (translated 11/7/2023 radioTokyo broadcast)
this sounds insanely moronic and very tone deaf/disrespectful.
Why?
nips are completely autistic when it comes to respecting the dead. they would absolutely not allow a movie to do this. this is fanfiction.
Godzilla has been about the atomic bomb victims from the very start you dunce.
>Godzilla annihilates cities with nuclear fire
>b-but it's totally not about the bombs
Burger cope.
Never go full moron, or American.
Watch Onibaba
Japs love movies about ghostly entities taking revenge.
You sound completely ignorant of Godzilla's origins.
Kek, a secondary wants to sound smart. Let's see:
>a prehistoric creature awoken by nuclear test after the war
>a dinosaur mutated by nuclear test after the war
>a vengeful gestalt of souls of people who died in the Pacific during WWII
>a prehistoric creature that "eats" radiation
>a highly mutagenic creature created by radiation leaks
Neither of them was created by the bombings of Japan.
You're an idiot, Godzilla was created to be an atomic bomb movie that would get past American censors. Godzilla was created to be commentary on the bombs, this is what Godzilla is for.
Yes true but Godzilla himself was not created by the bombings of Hiroshima or Nagasaki specifically, of course they can do that now if they want to
You are horribly misinformed. Do you also believe the story about two endings of Godzilla vs King Kong?
Now we can add
>A body horror siphonophore colony of writing charred human flesh
He's Extra Spicy Soilent Green
It's always about radiation and WWII. This leak sounds no different.
They're going to do it.
Maybe, but I agree with him that it's a little tasteless.
Godzilla 1954 was considered exploitative in its day.
Japanese snobby critics actually liked Raids Again better because it was more conventional.
>Godzilla is formed from the fused carcasses of the Japanese civilians killed in the attack at Hiroshima
KIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
sounds like bullshit but i believe it
I believe it, it sounds like the aesthetic they teased at the end of Shin
I am so fricking hype for this
MONSTER FIGHT CONFIRMED, HYPED
le bomb... le fused people into a giant lizard?
Alright I laughed Tfw this could very well be a sequel
>be japanese
>die in horrible explosion caused by american attack on japan
>get fused with other victims of american attack and turn into giant monster
>attack japan
???
It sounds a lot like that SCP where it's a colony of people melted by the sun, fused together and acting as one organism
Dumb as frick. They already basically did this with that shitty anime series (not the anime movies where Godzilla is a plant)
Any American Godzilla film is better than any Japanese Godzilla film.
Deranged take.
With American movies you get spectacle. The Japanese are still using guys in suits. Like c'mon.
You are completely ignorant. The last Japanese Godzilla movie used CGI, not rubber suits. Also the rubber suits looked great and the scale model destruction in the best of those movies was unrivaled S-tier effects.
When will the dsy come where I see a good Japanese Godzilla film with great vfx and story and actors?
You haven't seen Godzilla 1954? Or Godzilla vs Biolante? Or Shin Godzilla?
>inb4 "great vfx" means Hollywood marvel slop and you foolishly think scale models are bad
Not even going to give the b8 a couple posts above a (You).
another godzilla? but the trilogy ended in the last one, are they doing abother reboot?
there's no way that even the japanese are zany enough to make a goji made out of deep fried nips
They did it before with GMK, they can do it again
being possessed by angry nip souls is a little different than being comprised of tar baby nip corpse goo, anons
They're going to do it and it will be amazing. They're going back to Godzilla's edgy horrific roots.
it would actually somewhat validate the stupid Anno ending with the goji zombies
nothing will ever make up for the stupid tadpole with googly eyes, though
unless maybe they say that was just some other monster summoned by some other nip tragedies
>nothing will ever make up for the stupid tadpole with googly eyes
Shin Godzilla devastating Tokyo with his atomic breath attack completely vindicated and validated Shin Godzilla. The ending was icing on the cake.
2014 already did it better
so wrong
I wonder if this means he'll be able to break up into smaller creatures.
see
They're going to do it. And it will be kino.
brutal
Wonder how it tastes
I'm recklessly optimistic and will say good things about the reveal and there isn't a thing the always-angry complainers can do about it
>toho
isn't this the same company that has all the monster girl awoo shit?
a little more than an hour left, dahlings
Mmmm is that how you'd lick my sensitive frenulum? Good prostitute. Id nut on you. So much homie nut.
why is this being released at 4 am japan time anyway?
To troll their own citizens
when are they going to get their shit together and let me buy all the Hesei era films
When are you gonna get your own shit together and pirate those shits?
I do I even have DVDs I just wanna stream them in high quality to my television without jumping through any hoops
Pluto TV is gonna have a dedicated Godzilla/Toho channel starting in July.
Maybe we'll get a Criterion Heisei boxset in two or three years if they acquire the distribution rights like they did for the Showa movies.
i refuse to believe that anyone who likes any era of nip Goji movies actually likes Shin Godzilla as a Godzilla movie
it has to just be weebs and weeb-adjacent contrarians
>I have awful taste and I refuse to believe anybody else doesn't
weird flex but okay
You must be a contrarian because I love all eras and Shin is my #2 all time favorite.
#1 VS Destoroyah
#2 Shin
#3 54
#4 VS Mechagodzilla
#5 GMK
destroyah is probably my #1 as well, but shin is not a good Godzilla movie
sorry you're gay
and you're moronic.
moronic > gay
enjoy your weeb trash that isn't Godzilla
Go back to your MCU thread, plebeian shitter.
kek, weak shit anon
MCU sucks and Shin is exactly the same kind of gay shit except for weeb manchildren instead of cartoon manchildren
true Godzilla manchildren are superior
You're trying to hard. Go troll someplace else.
it's very easy being right when you don't have shit taste
Wasn't even my reply but you do sound like a MCU-tard. Did Shin not have enough quips for you?
when have Godzilla movies ever had quips?
talking about capeshit is a homosexual zoomer argument
>the smallest Godzilla ever made
Less than 1 hour remaining
HYPE
so its in 50mins?
Is the reveal going to be on this Twitter? I don't have goyim media so does that mean there's no way to see it?
It can be reposted here or the YouTube account
use nitter noobie
He doesn't know.
There’s never been a good Godzilla movie. Facts.
There's been 3.
False. Facts.
Correct because they're all GREAT. Thank you based Godzilla!
There's at least one masterpice a dozen and a half classics, some good ones and at least a handful of bad ones. Half of which are the anime ones.
Why are you posting your wrong and bad opinions in this thread full of chad and correct opinions?
touching
Gojira wtf.
>arguing for hours about fake spoilers
kek
you will soon feel ashamed for your remarks
30 minutes left
Who the hell cares about Chinese cartoons with a big dinosaur smashing buildings for the nth time? Grow up infant, this dinosaur shit is straight from the 80s and not in a good way.
"No!"
>verification not required
>!
>""
Why are you flaunting the fact that you're new?
>omg guys he doesn't appreciate my forced dead meme spammed by one guy that everyone keep ignoring until it stopped
>dont notice im new
>dont notice im new
>dont notice im new
>PLEASE dont notice im new
You can just close the thread and walk away, it's not a big deal. If you're embarrassed on Cinemaphile you've got some things to work out.
Sounds like you got embarassed. So it was you who came up with that shit? It was moronic, sorry. Learn how to pasta next time.

Are we getting a trailer??? I broke my leg Today...so I guess a trailer would make me kinda happy..
Thread devolved 2 shit, someone better make a new one.
so 15 minutes for a trailer of a new godzilla movie? im waiting
I'm trying not to jump the gun but I won't show any mercy if i'ts just Gojira '54 4.0 or Shin Godzilla 2 with nothing new.
you know it will be, anon
Well shit.
Minus One what?
Minus one chance of saving the franchise.
It doesn't need saving.
Good for you
It's actually in a better place than ever before even if Toho is not exactly doing anything revolutionary with a movie like this.
I like the design, although I was never big on the showa one so I'm biased.
I thought this was coming out in November
in japon
It's fake, stop being such gullible morons.
That’s actually the USA release date
December 1st is basically November
November in japan, december for america
Tokyo is 13 hours in the future (from the East Coast), so while it will be December 1st in Japan it will still be November in America.
sick
How the frick is the title Godzilla Minus One if people were saying Godzilla Zero? How does it happen? Maybe Zero used to be the title but someone decided to go one step further?
its a precursor to monster zero its minus one

ITS TIME
There is no trailer
WEBM
Someone post the teaser already FRICK
see
You dumbasses got just fooled
cope gay
do the two Shin Ultraman/Kamen movies have good action or is it just kinda gay power rangers spandex posing?
never got into ultraman or kamen but see how the Shin version could be cool depending on how they made it
it's just wrestling in costumes
I like Shin Ultraman a lot, but aside from a couple of scenes the action isn't especially good. There isn't as much of a sense of scale as you might think; that's one drawback of CGI.
