It's amazing how consistent his career has been. He's been acting for what, 40 years or something, and he's never been in a bad movie.
I can't think of any Tom Cruise movie I didn't like and I've seen them all. Even Interview with the vampire which was just womanly smut, he was amazing in.

Why he stopped making dramatic movies and start just making action movies? He could have won an Oscar.
He just wanted to do the latter more. No reason why he couldn't have won an Oscar for drama films plus I feel like his larger-than-life persona and self fits blockbusters more. He's back at WB now and doing drama films again so the Oscar is a very real possibility.
He's doing all his action movies while his body can still handle the stunts. You don't want to be one of those boomers like Liam Neeson who wait until they can't even jump a fence without assistance to try and be an action badass
