Nah he's a bit right in some sense a lot of the shit with variants has gotten out of hand on asm. Marvel understands the margin on speculators/collectors is higher than readers since a dude who buys 8x copies. It's one of the reasons why social media engagement is so low on asm content.

Stores buy the bulk 100 or 50 copies to get the exclusive variants for resell. It's gambling tho cause your assuming you'll find a buyer for the variant and prob 75 copies of extra asm stock.

Some stores have a thing where if you want the incentive cover, you've got to buy the number of copies it takes, to get that cover. I remembered some retailers saying this back in the 00s, or early 10s.

Daredevil is Miles Morales of his era, a forced crappy character that editorial refused to let die (even forced Spider-Man villains into it, like they do with Morales because Daredevil's own original villains sucked donkey balls) and kept giving new writers until they actually struck gold with Miller.
Pretty much everyone, considering outside of Miller those are runs are nothing special at best, shit at their worst.

Some variant collectors buy it because their favorite artist did the art on the cover.
Others buy it because they collect just variants
There are also ASM buyers who buy every single variant.
Others buy it because of the perceived rarity
Then there's some things like the Disney variants where they hook other collectors
I really do think by now that the revival of Gwen Stacy is the only thing which can save ASM now. Peter and MJ relationship is fricked for good thanks to wells and lowe making MJ a cheater with Paul.
