Babadook and Saint Maud are meh. Raw is good. Inside Out is kino and the only one thar could arguably be considered top of the year material. Haven't seen the others

    from what i've seen
    >The Babadook
Mediocre horror film, kinda overhated at this point, it's not totally terrible.
    >Inside Out
Overrated but okay Pixar entry. Really fricking odd choice for best film of that year. I'd go for Kaili Blues, or Tangerine or Country of OZ (russian film).
    >Raw
Ducornau is very unimpressive. Basic teenage drama, puberty metaphor through cannibalism. Titane was only marginally better too.
    >Petite Maman
I actually kinda agree here. Loved this movie, very gentle and touching drama. Admirable minimalism. Made me cry, but I realated very hard to the subject matter of death in the family.

      >I'd go for Kaili Blues

Titane is so much better than Raw
The Babadook and Inside Out are just awful. Act of Killing and Aftersun are the only films on that list that are argueable but I prefer Her and Banshees personally

I agree with Kermode 95% of the time but his rare bad takes are really confusing. Like I don't understand his utter hatred for the Pirates movies, even the first one. It's not like he's above liking some cinematic slop or anything
