Take this is as you will. But I rewatched the first season not to long ago and still enjoyed it. So I at least think it’s worth watching the whole thing.
what exactly makes the show enjoyably in your opinion?
Liked a decent amount of the cast and found the challenges entertaining to watch. So that’s the main reasons.
The quality of TD largely depends on your opinion on Island. It's Canadian trash but when it's good it's really entertaining. World Tour is like the fandoms most beloved season because it's when the writers finally figured out the show completely. But to really enjoy you kind of have to sit through the first 2 seasons to the style evolve.

Then you probably won't like the rest of the show considering seasons 1-3 are generally agreed as the series at its most capable.
Total Drama isn't high art
Far from it
The animation is nothing special, the jokes can be too juvenile and crass (fart jokes a plenty), and there's always gonna be THAT character you despise but the show is entertaining because
A. The contestants are shockingly compelling to see develop and go through drama
B. Chris is a delight
C. The shock value of seeing certain scenes make it on NA television
Total Drama unironically is one of the most influential non CN originals for Cartoon Network and was what pushed for more non-anime PG cartoons
It's a guilty pleasure for me, also technically what truly introduced me to cartoons with continuity.
Before TD, the cartoons I watched were all completely episodic and some even had negative continuity, TD episodes followed each other directly, so that really got my attention.

The show is far from one of the first western cartoons to have long narratives that follow episode after episode but a lot of its popularity came to people reacting and treating the show as if it was a legit reality TV show
With how surprisingly good the new series is, I wish we got it one episode a week and not just one binge

yeah its good and you'll probably get the most out of it by binging it now, but being in the fandom at the peak of its popularity is a non-replicable experience tbh. i had a whole friend group based on our mutual interest in the show during island and was actively involved in the online fandom by world tour. miss those days fr!

The leak screenshots Anon is posting are from the Spanish voice actor for Chris, who uploaded himself reading season 2 lines. From the Episode 2 recap. So we already know the teams, roughly the first challenge and the first boot who is in fact Scary Girl. She's trying to be more normal this time to not get voted off, but instead that makes her team even more scared of her.
That person being the first boot this time doesn't surprise me as much. Never believed she'd make the merge as she's too much of a gimmick character.
so going by prior seasons patterns, the first boots from both teams are boy and girl respectively. the skunks lost scary girl , so that means the rats' first boot has to be a boy which means zee, damien and caleb are in danger for first boot for the team
Caleb was already the first boot last season. Don't see them doing repeating that and making him another Ezekiel though this time, Caleb's not the first boot of the cast. So it's either between Zee or Damien.

True. If that bit is remembered from last season, then nobody will rely on him as a serious ally which makes his chances pretty tough especially when he's the guy who'd mess up the challenge.
yeah i think zee would make sense for the first boot of his team but i remember people thinking zee would be an early boot last season so you never know.

Yeah if we patterngay then it's gotta be Zee. Caleb and Damien have more to do, and if Axel stays this time she'll probably take over the comedy relief role.
Zee's stupid enough to screw himself over as last season showed. I can see him screwing his team over which causes his elimination but yeah they would most certainly need a new comedy relief if he gets the boot early. I guess it could be Ripper if he sticks around long enough again.

It's all but confirmed. We still haven't really seen the "tough guy with a heart of gold" Terry talked about, and Mr. self-proclaimed Alpha Male that went out of his way to help Millie for no reason in the finale can fit that. His voice actor has said we'll see a new side of him this season. And he's exactly the kind of character the TD writers love, it's obvious to see how much fun they have writing him.
Plus, Axel and Ripper having an established rivalry in Season 1 will make for some good material if we get another early merge.
Yeah which is why I wouldn't be surprised if Ripper made the merge again. It's not like he has Priya gunning for his head this time though he'll probably still make some enemies on his new team as well because of who he is.

I always preferred the first half of every season, as they remove characters it gets less interesting to me.
For me it's mid-season. Early season is usually too predictable and just filler characters, and they usually frick up in some way during the endgame. World Tour is the one time they had a really strong last stretch, except for Duncan's screen hogging ass staying way too long as usual.

agreed with this tbh. of all the seasons i like the drama starts really picking up around midgame but then they have owen outlast the characters bringing the story entertainment again because he's owen. but the TDI late pre-merge to early merge, TDA courtney debut to owen return, WT love triangle arc (i personally love this storyline and how nearly all of the cast is involved, ik its unpopular in the fandom), RR midpoint till the surfers return for no reason, and reboot MK boot till best girl goes are prime TD imo

also there's no way caleb or damien are going early next season. zee maybe but i kind of doubt that too. nothing is stopping the skunks from losing twice in a row and i feel like chase is not making the merge this time.
Even if the Skunks lose again, the Rats will have to lose at some point which means patterns continue in that a Rats boy goes home to go along with Skunks' first boot being a girl.

With them seemingly retreading the whole "captains pick teams" from TDA for next season, Priya or Bowie or both of them are probably not gonna make merge this time around.
you didn't need the whole captains shit to figure that one out. priya may have millie with her on the team but she also has people like emma, axel and nichelle on the team as well along with caleb who could use his looks to sway emma onto his side and maybe start making moves so he won't get dropped on like last time. damien's a wild card.
bowie also has to deal with julia again and i feel that while his relationship with raj is doing nice, i feel there's going to be some drama with him and wayne in that wayne feels he's losing his buddy in that he spends more time with bowie than he does with him these days.
I feel like Bowie will at least be able to make it to merge, he's got too much going on. Rivalry with Julia, relationship with Raj, potential drama with Wayne, more Chase hating and likely some scene where he and Emma reconcile (who is currently on the opposite team so they probably won't have time to interact) - there's too much there for me to think he goes early.

I honestly don't think his relationship with Emma will be repaired at all especially when they'll be on different teams. And his rivalry with Julia and potential drama with Wayne is why I feel he may not make merge this time if Julia ends up using this situation to her advantage to get the upper hand on Bowie and send him home. It's between either him, Raj or Wayne who gets eliminated from this potential ordeal.

Both Priya and Millie have no business making merge together again.
Kinda hope they both go early. I like Millie, but her character arc is over and done with. Priya on the other hand is probably the worst 2023 character, her potential was totally wasted in Season 1 having done nothing except get angry at Millie a few times (and most of the time it was Priya's own fault). Missed her chance.
yeah don't really see what you can really do with millie at this point besides continuing her friendship with priya and that was essentially the main plot of last season so we don't need a whole retread. it's best one of them or both of them just leave before the merge if we have to go through the same dynamics again so we can leave the second half of the season to something different.
i feel one of them will frick up so badly in the challenge, that the team will vote one of them off for that.
the characters i'm hoping make it far this season are mostly unchanged from last season. Ripper, Axel, Damien, and MK. I'm also praying that we don't have to put up with Emma and Chase for too long, those two were the worst part of last season. Mainly Emma.
i hope emma is an early boot. chase is based so i hope he sticks around long again

I feel Caleb's gonna do some serious damage now that people know the business with Bowie and Julia. Yeah it will be retreading Justin and Alejandro's "pretty boy is the bad guy" trope but it's what you got.
if we get a final 10 merge again, then i bet 4 or maybe 5 of last season's premergers will make merge while the other 5 will be last season mergers.
If merge happens at around episode 8 or 9 this time with a final 9 or 8 merge, then 4 pre-mergers from last season will make merge this season.
i still feel that axel's not gonna make merge again for some reason. she'll probably make it farther than before but will probably stop short before the merge.
So MK, Nichelle, Caleb and Damien have the best chances?
i'd say so. though the latter 3 are on the same team so if they make merge together, then if we get a final 10 merge again, we'll probably have an evenly split of 5 skunks and 5 rats which means the remaining two rats could be either priya, millie, emma, axel or zee.
Emma really is the wildcard. She was such an important player right from the get-go, her and Bowie pretty much being *the* established duo in Episode 1, but then she just goes pretty abruptly in her episode without much conclusion. You're supposed to like and root for her, but then you're also supposed to get really annoyed and ashamed she got back with Chase. You know you've fricked up when even Chris chastises your decisions.
So what does she do now? Will she be the "Final 5 repeat" and get redemption? Just break up with Chase and randomly go early? Have an elimination towards the middle after making up with Bowie? None of the above? She doesn't have any clear direction or reason to believe she will be this or that.
All I know is that people are gonna be mad no matter what happens with her, so we gotta get some popcorn for that.
Her relationship with Chase generates interest from viewers so they will squeeze out as much drama from that well until it dries up. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if she or Chase gets eliminated before the merge. But at the same time, I will also not be surprised if both of them make merge again because their relationship is just that toxic yet entertaining.
