I like Julia but she still feels like a season 1 Heather clone to me, even more than she did last season. Only big difference is having one friend she acrually likes. Julia winning this season would be like Heather winning TDI, it would feel wrong. Heather's win in WT was so great because she'd already developed a lot and WT positioned her as an underdog antihero against Alejandro.
They made Julia too hateable, Courtney takes a while before the entire Action cast cant really stand her even that idiot Owen was disgusted by her. Yet in World Tour they basically dont give a shit about Courtney's b***hiness in the past season but still completely shit on Heather.

Yes, easily. Chase and Emma were hilarious characters and Episode 10 was the peak of the reboot, Millie was a far more entertaining character than Caleb ever was and as much as TD's fart obsession sucks that episode actually had great character interactions. S1 Episode 12 may have been a dud without any of the comedic characters but S2's ending stretch had even more duds.

I think making Axel the protag of the next season could work really well. She and Ripper would make a great team in challenges once they get over the horny makeout phase of their relationship. Also, Axel has shown to be quite considerate of her teammates and friends, which could make her fit into "the hero" trope of the season.
Ripper and Axel definitely suffered a bit by becoming the Geoff and Bridgette of the season, I'd like to see them treated as individuals again while still maintaining their relationship.

Yeah, what Fresh TV doesn't get is that people mainly like the show for the characters, not the reality show aspect. That can be good too, but that's not what makes so many people fans.
They also ignore that a large portion of the fandom is not little kids, but older teens or those in their twenties that grew up with Island. Dumbing down the show so much to the point they won't even let characters say "crap" and taking away anything possibly risqué just feels like a disappointment. Though I guess a good deal of that is on CN's part, who probably forced them to tone things down if the show creators didn't do it on their own.
And CN right now doesn't seem to know what it wants with all their cancellations.

even the reality show aspect sucks because of how much they've had to ramp up the challenge to one-up themselves. they'd never let the campers simply play dodgeball in a new season without throwing in a shark tank or some shit
And the challenges have to take up basically the entire episode. In the earlier seasons, there was at least room for contestants to breathe a bit beforehand. And even during some of the challenges. Like the talent show took a while to actually kick off, and in the phobia one, once a camper conquered their fear, they could wander around and do other interactions.
I don't get why they keep insisting on overly involved challenges. The best episodes of the reboots are, unsurprisingly, the ones with very simple concept challenges. Bless the guy who wrote the pole and baking challenge episodes.
Sometimes they are funny though. The water joust was hilarious, specially for the bear and the horses.
That's a very simple challenge too, though. The canoe walking part and the actual fights were challenge situations where the characters could just talk and interact, the only problem with it was giving most of the focus to worst couple.
The memory episode and slide episodes were great too. It's funny how some non-convoluted slapstick can go a long way. As opposed to a ten-piece obstacle course with flamethrowers, a tank of electric eels, and a cage full of bears to fall into.
At the end of the day, the competition is really just there to force hostility between the characters, since many of them wouldn't have problems with each other in a normal situation.
It's almost like they intentionally want to make this totally dramatic or something.
Just imagine the dynamics between characters of different seasons.
And there's no reason it has to stick at school all the time. Episodes can switch to or take place entirely in the mall, at the pool/beach, at someone's house, and so on.
I think I'd rather an interview based series. Like, every episode we get to see the lives of two or three competitors and how the show impacted their lives. But just make that a backdrop to why we see them and make it about their every day otherwise, not make the entire season about the original show.

If they bring back this cast for a third round, they need a new villain. Julia's great and all, but the season villain three times in a row is just too damn much.
I've been saying that I want Chase to be the villain, but he would be so oblivious due to his selfishness that he's not aware of how much people he's hurting. I think that would be a neat way to combine the writer's love of idiots and a new way of villainy.

Which do you guys think is better, the situation from the first season where one of them was eliminated halfway, or the second season where all three could potentially win until the end?
Three person all the way through is definitely better. Not only is there more tension (or would be if it wasn't Wayne winning) but there's no need to create another challenge halfway through that just breaks up the flow and finishes on a dud like... take these goats up a mountain and milk them?
Also, more room for characters dynamics obviously. Especially if the final two don't really mesh well together like, say, Sky and Shawn.
I prefer the latter. It's more fun when there is three different teams all trying to win it.

Owen worked because it was the first time. Doesn't really work when it's like the third or fourth time they do this.
Beth being a finalist has always been criticized, but at least she wasn't dumb. She's more like Damien being a smart and nice person rather than a complete idiot.
Lightning was dumb, but he was also evil and athletically fit. He almost had toonforce in the way he just survived any crap thrown at him. And he's used cleverly as a brains vs brawns finale.
Not gonna defend anything from All Stars or Pahkitew, but Priya and Bowie made sense, Priya was the MC and would obviously go to the end, and Bowie was a very competent player and schemer.
Lightning was dumb, but good at challenges and was actually motivated to win from the start. He was also clever enough to get on Fang's good side. He earned his spot.

Yeah, Wayne winning basically means Raj's probabilities in the next season are close to zero.. And Bowie will probably never win ever since he got runner up in the first season and there is only one canon winner.
From this cast, the only winners I can see now are Damien, maybe Axel, and if they want to finally crown a villain, MK.
Damien Ripper and Axel are my bets for the next winners, but I would like to see Raj go far by himself. Bowie and Wayne both had a chance to shine solo but we haven't gotten that from Raj yet.
To be fair, Wayne really only had one episode alone without Raj. Not much "chance to shine" really.
His fire stunt to win the season WAS one of the most impressive things in the season though, I will give him that
Despite appearing in 20 episodes, Wayne only participated in a single one without Raj. That's even less than Sammy who at least got half one episode and a half.

Scary Girl is already freaky for most of the cast, it's why she's booted early. If she wanted to be a main villain she would become the main target for everyone's safety. She would need a lot of immunities and victories to be kept around and she's shown to be too obsessed with horror to pay attention in the challenges.

the best total drama villains have their own unique angle. their own strategy, their calling card. people compare Justin to Alejandro but that's reductive. Alejandro is a manipulator, an active threat. Justin is a coaster. Avoiding elimination isn't about being the best, it's about not being the worst. Justin's strategy was to do the bare minimum and let his looks and social sway carry him to victory. but keeping him around for the whole season wouldn't be very compelling, so it was a good call to have him flounder as soon as he was forced to start doing things.

Damien was better in season 1 than. Last season he had two plot lines going on - the main character arc of him wanting to quit, and the side story of him being Scary Girl's main victim. And then when both of those stories came to their natural finish, he was gone. No wasted time. In season 2 he's around all season but he doesn't have anything going on. He's just hanging around. All he has is the idol thing, and that's boring. The only memorable thing he did the entire time was trying to slim that sheep.

Rewatching ROTI for the first time in many years. Wow. I forgot how stacked this cast is. I like every single character except Staci. Yes, even Mike and Zoe. I don’t consider All Stars canon frick All Stars.
the gen 2 cast is massively underrated. partially because all-stars was such a shitshow but also partially because people hate change in general.
Outside of Lighting, Jo and Scott, they were all weak. Very one note and wasted in the Mike/Zoey plot lines.
Even then Scott isn’t great, his strategy of always losing never made any sense to me.

Dawn had to go out early because talking to animals the way she did was too OP. Also, I like Scott. His strategy was crazy, but interesting and it's not like his team was the smartest or socially wisest. Lightning and Sam are not the hardest people to manipulate and the only two people on the team that were smart enough to catch on either didn't talk or were already seen as weird. It made sense for him to lower the number of people he had to deal with before the merge when his team was mostly actually dumb from the start rather than made dumber.
