Ok, this one is just fricking insulting nostalgia bait. If there's one thing TD has consistently been amazing in, it's the voice direction and acting.
The only "magic" is that the old characters were blatant stereotypes that could easily understand, and that the writers were having fun making the boldest stereotypes they could. Losing that aspect is sad, sure, but the cast this time around has far more depth to them than most of the OG cast ever did. Sure there isn't a Heather, but there's also no Eva or Katie/Sadie or Ezekial or TDI Noah or TDI Tyler and so on and so forth. Well, there is Axel, but I'm sure she'll get something this time around.
Exactly. The Reboot is the best written cast across the board. Because while there were icons like Heather, there were complete duds that had NOTHING going on too. Even characters like Gwen and Courtney had a huge fall from grace. The Reboot is refreshing and the most earnest this series has ever been.
Based. This new cast is the best we've ever had and I think we're really going to see it if we ever have another crossover season and we have to have these people interacting with the older characters.
Scary Girl was like if an episode 1 fodder character accidentally lasted longer than she was supposed to.
I think 2023's cast is the best cast in the franchise. They have plenty of depth and the writing for them is always consistent.
The main issue is that modern seasons aren't allowed to be anywhere near as raunchy as the originals. There's 90% less sex jokes and the cast is fairly normal and not as b***hy/psychotic. And the original cast had the best designs overall.

NTA but to me it seems like Caleb is obsessed with his "strategy" and what happened last season to an unhealthy degree, wouldn't be surprised if he blows himself off by trying too hard and either painting himself as a target or annoying everyone to the point of getting rid of him. Dude just kept repeating how he was first off last time, we get it.
I could see that happening and it's what gets him booted. He is shown to be perceptive given he saw through MK's strategy in using him for a ride. He's not like Lightning who never noticed Cameron hitching a ride in the F4 challenge.

I expect it to be a small gag that vanishes as soon as it starts if he's a villain. Like how Julia was just having gags with her phone obsession and delusion until she wisened up.
Yeah. I can see him simply start to focus in on his strategy and pulling strings but if he keeps on going on about trying to work on overcorrecting his strategy to not be the first boot again, then I can see him getting booted earlier.
But it could be Fresh's way of doing something new with a villain in that their main motivation is not getting booted early again like last season.

Wait, so Priya is a canon winner? Is there a version of this episode that goes the other way? It would be a lot to change.
The series hasn't premiered in many places, so it does seem like this is the first time where there is a single canon winner without alternate endings.
Canada sounds like it's also going with Priya winning. Wouldn't be surprised if U.S does the same. The way S2 so far has been pushing Priya as the winner makes me think that S1 only has one ending this time around. Because how would you explain Caleb wanting to make an alliance with Priya?

The way the episode plays out I feel like it was designed to have an alternate version. Priya and Bowie are both picking and both use their first pick to grab their sidekick. You could swap out like 4 shots and have a version where Bowie is the champion.

I can see this. Either Chris has some twist where both teams could lose a player and then Chase and Emma gets booted or one of them is voted off and the other follows them in the same episode because obsessive relationship. Emma got eliminated right after Chase last season so they could do a reversal this time around but I can't see what Chase will bring to the table when his plot revolved so much around Emma and that seems to be continuing this season.
Or both end up as our finalists ala Zoke. Either way, it's gonna be shit either way.

Italy was supposed to get the new season on December 4th. They got this episode a week early. The only two conclusions we can really draw from that are either "somebody fricked up and put one out early", or that for whatever reason they're giving us an early preview before the rest of the season.
If it's the latter, then weekly releases doesn't make any sense in regards to putting one out a week early if they're just gonna be once a week regardless. And if it's the former then there's still only a chance we get weekly episodes - with the more likely outcome being that the rest will get dumped all at once like intended.
I'd be able to live with daily threads discussing each episode, though I dont expect anons to fully respect spoilers sadly

Yeah, they changed her skin color to not be yellow at some point between the first seasons italian release and now. There was a comparision before and after the change somewhere, i'll have to see if i can dig it up.

That's the exact image I was looking for as well.As for why they changed it, i'm assuming it could have been some internal memo telling them to change it because i didn't see anyone complain about it.

Maybe would've felt more natural if there was a year between seasons.
Episode amounts were doubled in early Total Drama seasons. Action even had aftermath episodes to set up the new season with Alejandro and Sierra's reveal
You cant waste time, after the Gen 1 cast, the first episode always has a challenge now so you kind of have to rush into it. I'd say this was better than a lot of the other seasons in terms of the balance, and the fact that its a cast we already know is a big part of why.
This season will end with them kissing or killing each other, there is no inbetween.
