    Because I enjoy hating things.

That sentence doesn't even make sense. You like disliking things? How do you feel pleasure from pain?

        >how do you feel pleasure from pain
you don't. The pleasure comes from knowing that you are better than the people who actually like the shit you are currently viewing. You watch it to reaffirm that it is, indeed, shit. The fact that YOU hate it while other people enjoy it clearly means that you are better than those other people. You have superior taste, and you are more intelligent than them.

Any input of what could be the cause of this or anyone who has been through that and escaped? Im not proud but 99% of these (excluding the self-pittyness) can be applied to me.

I Was wondering if its hormonal or some kind of defeatism caused subconsciously by something you wish was better (body, job, networth, etc,)

        Poor choices and ineffective parenting.

The only escape is abandoning almost all the habits you've built that bring you comfort. There's nothing anyone else can say or do to initiate a change; one day you have to just feel the urge to take control of your life. The hardest part is maintaining the motivation once you start.

Most people like this are addicted to the lowest-effort highest-reward sources of dopamine. They may have done alright in the pre-internet age but they're fricked by technology today. Get off social media (including Cinemaphile) and stop playing videogames. There's a lot of life out there that you're not experiencing, but you can if you really want to. Try as many new things as you can.

thanks, thats pretty much where im at atm and honestly even though I got stuck in a bad mindset after a break-up, i've never had a negative outlook towards what I can achieve. Bad parenting is definitely a big part since i've been on my own since forever but got relatively wealthy so I never got the gotta-get-out-of-poverty mindset that other deadbeats have.

I find picking up a sport related hobby works. I used to be like this (I was a moronic /misc/ addict) before picking up running when COVID struck. Obviously I stopped going to that board too. I met some fellow runners through Strava and can say that I’m in a better place now.

The last "new" series I watched was Chernobyl and I haven't seen a movie made in the past 4 years. I'm about to rewatch True Detective S1 and for movies I really don't feel like watching anything new

I remember coming here from Cinemaphile during the pandemic to just get some good recommendations of things to watch while "working" from home. Like the other boards there's some gem threads here and there but they are needles in the haystack. It's the same thing on Cinemaphile and Cinemaphile etc. Most threads being shit is a core part of the Cinemaphile experience.

I came from Cinemaphile for the exact same reason and ended up spending more time here. but overall it's just a different type of autism with the same amount of shit and quality posts

I just rewatch stuff I already enjoy, or go back to stuff I miss. Pretty much anything made passed like 2008 is a no-go zone for me. There's some already stuff, but generally speaking, I'd rather go back and watch something from 1994 that I missed than deal with whatever cancerous waste has been pumped out in the last decade and a half.

To keep looking for the things I will enjoy.
I don’t enjoy the company of most people either, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to give up and become a hermit.
