It's sad that this pile of squandered potential is one of the best TF shows out there...

But it's not? There's plenty of better TF shows.

On a purely surface level, Prime is the best. Its bland and soulless, but it doesn't have the glaring flaws of other series.

Sadly outside of Sumdac Sundays you can't have a thread talk about animated without the same people complaining about the animation quality , pacing, or scripting.

          >Its bland and soulless
How the frick is it soules? Prime created the entire mythology of the transformers, there was so many minor details and callbacks to the other shows. I can understand why people would find the show bland and boring but not soules.

            >Prime created the entire mythology of the transformers,

It just took stuff from a ton of other series and put it in a blender. Just lore alone isn't enough to give a series soul. Something about Prime jsut felt very by the numbers.

Well true but it did give a unified version of them. the 13 primes were all original creations besides Prima and the fallen. It also adapted the old Marvel comics Story for Primus and Unicron, Which most shows didint do.

The lore of the 13 primes which gives explanations for triple changers, Combiners and for transformers with beast modes.
It gave us the most detailed lore for Unicron on TV.
Prime shaped majority of TF lore and how it will continue for the future to come

Most of the lore for Prime was pulled from the novel Exodus. Episode three references the book

Ah yes a book that was made as a prequel to Prime, a show that was already in production with majority of its episodes already planned.

First off what the hell are you on about with the Live action films sharing the same timeline with the prime and the games?
Second off the WOFC games barely at all touched on the subject of the Primes, the games whole story was the war and how they got to earth.

the 13 prime already existed prior and for some reason removed Logos Prime from it despite Beast Wars Reborn pretty much confirming he was a member prior and instead made Alpha Trion a member despite previous series just having him be a wise and old Transformer

              >a mythology so shit other future series choose to ignore it.
Ok then explain on why everyone uses the 13 primes and give more lore to it, Cyberverse revealed that mcadam was alchemist prime. Hell IDW added even more to it in their comics with the Colony worlds founded by the primes.

                >Ok then explain on why everyone uses the 13 primes and give more lore to it
The premise of The 13 was first explored in Revenge of the Fallen with the Dynasty of Primes which was only composed of 7 Primes. Then the novel Exodus expanded it to 13. Followed by Transformers Prime using the Thirteen idea.

3H had The Convenant, a 12-member Zodiac-themed group of pre-Cybertronians tasked with keeping the timeline free of Unicron frickery. Sandstorm was a BotCon toy from the year it was focused on and recently got a new toy. Take a wild guess which Zodiac he represents.

Dreamwave's group wasn't in their comics, but described in the guidebook they produced.

FunPub did multiple storylines about their group.

Prime has its flaws, but I definitely wouldn’t call it soulless or bland. It definitely tried, and had some really great voice casting like Ernie Hudson as the human agent, Jeffrey Combs as Ratchet, Michael Ironside as Ultra Magnus, Steve Blum as Starscream, and Welker back as Megatron (who’s clearly giving it his all), and no one seemed like they were phoning it in.
There were also plenty of great moments throughout the show, the type of moments that only happen if someone behind the scenes cares.

(Which actually led to an interesting twist that Starscream becomes insanely loyal to Megatron)

I actually do think Prime gets a bad rap on Cinemaphile and think overall it was really good. However, it really could’ve benefitted from more Transformer characters and a more focused story instead of switching around like it did constantly. I also didn’t care for this version of Optimus or Unicron.
That being said, Prime has the best Arcee, one of the best Megatrons, the best Ratchet, the best human characters (especially Ernie Hudson), and arguably the best fight scenes in the franchise. If it had Animated’s level of story focus it could’ve been a GOAT.

As it stands, Beast Wars is still the best. Rewatched a bunch of episodes the other day, and it still holds up. It also encapsulates everything great about Transformers so perfectly.

They were planning to add more characters like IronHide to the show, but they were cut either due to budget like Seas spray, or cut by executives Ie poor IronHide

Pissed that he got killed off for that reason within the show. But heard the Bumblebee sequel show retcon'd that death.

    Prime's problem was simple
    Kids didn't like it
Hasbro has now attempted to segregate Transformers media across age groups but the stuff aimed at kids aren't serious enough and the stuff aimed at adults are too serious

      >Kids didn't like it
I thought it was more of TF:Prime and GIJoe:Renegade were made for Hasbro's channel The Hub, so when that channel bombed so did the shows.

        Anonymous

Nah. The show only aired on the Hub in the USA, it did badly worldwide even in countries where it aired in big channels.

The show was frankly just badly written so it didn't appeal to adult nerds outside of core Transgays, while being too dull for kids too. Classic case of trying to have your cake and eat it too.

        >It just took stuff from a ton of other series and put it in a blender.
Well true but it did give a unified version of them. the 13 primes were all original creations besides Prima and the fallen. It also adapted the old Marvel comics Story for Primus and Unicron, Which most shows didint do.

99% of the lore in the show was not created by Prime, nor for Prime, they were just call backs to the brand bible Hasbro made that they asked the show staff to put in. Said Brand Bible was also used in comics, newer cartoons and even the movies.

IDK, think we dodged a bullet in IDW1.0. If you were a jap character you either ended up like Star Saber (completely new western personality) or be treated like canon fodder (especially those BWN & BWII chars).
What I really want to see is Sakamoto do something we those characters and some others from Prime in his G1 Jap world.

If anything RiD2015 gets unfairly dumped on for being in continuity with Prime, even though its naturally a more lighthearted show because the brunt of what could go wrong already happened in Prime. Its like the ZZ to Prime's Zeta gundam.
