Treasure Planet

>Create Captain Nathaniel Flint for TP
>Give him a space pirate ship with fricking claws
>Make him a 6 eyed demon alien that steals shit from every part of the universe
>Has a extra-dimensional portal that allows him unparalleled FTL
>Has less than 1 minute of screen time in the entire movie

How the frick did they manage to create such a masterful character design and only give him less than half a minute of screentime.

Because mysteries are an enjoyable part of storytelling.

Except the only "mystery" here is why they bothered putting so much effort into designing him, giving him his backstory, giving him his tech and abilities, etc, when they weren't going to fricking do anything with him.

They conveyed that he pillaged enough treasure to fill the core of an entire planet. That's enough for me to think he's badass- I don't need to see how it happened.

The story's not about him, they just needed to make clear that he was the most powerful and dangerous pirate in the universe.

why the frick would you care about or be in awe of this character, the legendary tale of who on which the ENTIRE MOVIE hinges, if he wasn't immediately established to be super badass?

he's in the movie a lot. The entire crux of it revolves around him. He just isn't on screen. But he doesn't need to be, because you already know him. That's why seeing his bones at the end is a shock.

god damn, I'm so glad you fricks aren't in charge of making films because none of you understand anything. You'd just make something cool and then shove it down everyone's throats because that's what you think you do

even with the means of transportation and location he has the fact that he managed to garner so much treasure is actually kind of mysterious.

a lot of it is left a mystery and that's really cool. what else did you want to see. do you need everything to be explained to you at every point.

Being brief but very on point with what you’re coming across sometimes is more effective and impactful than something with an hour worth of screentime.

Lowkey wonder what was he doing before death, atop the ship with only BEN, I wonder if he ordered to kill him or something before taking his memory, given his location and posture

He got so greedy and possessive of his treasure that he rigged the whole place to explode and then probably sat there and starved to death
Absolutely murdered the rest of his crew beforehand though

It could be cool if his ghost was enter inside his skeleton corpse, trying to kill anyone who'll tries to steal his his treasure

It is incredible in general how every character in this movie has had a dedicated fangirls absolutely simping over them.

I actually think the main inspiration for him was The Goonies film with the hidden pirate ship and the captain's skeleton sat on his chair after killing all of his crew.

(Which probably also was a big reference to the entombed Atlantean king sat on his throne in Conan the Barbarian.)

        amazing

Sometimes less is more, the fact we just have the intro to showcase him when he was alive and his god tier design plus the details we get from the lengths he went to be sure no one would get his treasure even from his corpse, how he was able to go anywhere to get his loot and all while leaving enough details open for anyone to come up with ideas on how he found the planet, his map that lets him travel the universe and even what his life up till his death was like

Though they never explain it, it's implied like the books that Silver was his cook.
Silver being a pirate is a shocking twist becuase he's a pleasent man with a bank account and a well-run establishment in a major port.
He's a war veteren who served and was wounded under a famous admiral (possibly a lie)
He also is married to a black woman as well which is a sign he's been in the Caribbean too long.
