The push for workplace inclusion was the defining aspect of second wave feminism and has been far more irreversibly destructive than third wave feminism. I started browsing /misc/ in 2012 and even though it was predominantly libertarian back then many people were sharing, discussing and ultimately supporting many of the reactionary positions that came to define the board post 2016. I distinctly remember reading a thread all about the negative outcomes associated with single motherhood and how single motherhood was a consequence of women's liberation. The reason I remember this thread so distinctly is because I am from a single mother home and it illuminated a lot things in my personal life and upbringing.
You have to remember that the whole pick up artist thing was huge back in that 2010 to 2012 period and thus the idea of viewing women as base creatures that operate on instinct and lack the capacity for long term thinking or loyalty was very popular at the time. Cinemaphile became a place of gathering for people who absorbed these ideas and begun to think of them in a political context rather than just using them to try and get laid.
And then of course there was gamergate in 2014 which absolutely turned the blue boards anti-feminist and while you could argue that the average gamergater was still pro female liberation and simply against third wave feminism that a might charitable interpretation when you can go back and read the posts from that time and see that nuanced takes were few and far between. Honestly, the third wave still had a lot of cool things, even if that was when feminism started getting dumb, but the fourth is definitely a problem. It's not even feminism anymore. Women no longer care about gender equality.
Women's liberation has been a poison for society from the outset. It started as a push from the bored wives of the elite class who had nothing to do because they had an army of housekeepers and nannys. No average woman in the early 20th Century was clamouring to join her husband at the local factory or down the mines. She was too busy washing clothes by hand and preparing family meals, all while looking after multiple infants.
Of course the result of early feminism was to allow women to enter the workforce. This, within a few generations, essentially doubled the labor force, acting as a massive downward pressure on wages and resulting in the current state of affairs where a household requires both partners to work just to get by. It also lead to the outsourcing of household tasks through daycare, food delivery and cleaning services, meaning previously untaxed labor became taxable thus dramatically increasing the power of the state. The necessity of dual income households is also one of the largest contributing factors to the decline in birth rate which is the primary driver of the push by government and business for mass migration to sustain economic growth. So all the negative outcomes of the Wests migration policy have their roots in the feminist movement too.
For every positive outcome of feminism, there are a dozen negative.
The result of early feminism was women getting to vote. Women entered the workforce during the wars.
The push for workplace inclusion was the defining aspect of second wave feminism and has been far more irreversibly destructive than third wave feminism. The peak of misandry typical of third wave feminism has already come and gone, but the structural changes to society brought on by second wave feminism are so ingrained that they may never be reversed.
The suffrage movement that defined first wave feminism was also immensely harmful but I acknowledge this is only true from the point of view of someone with political bias. But the voting difference between men and women at any given point in time is easy to find and paints a very clear picture. Women always have and always will vote for greater government intervention than men.
