Say what you will about Succession, White Lotus, Euphoria, etc, they were at least competently written and better than usual network TV fare, not to mention enormously successful. episodes 2-5 were only good without the context of episode 6. I legitimately though the show was going to 10 episodes, I didn't realize it was the finale until I watched 6. so up until then, I thought the pacing was fine.
but, in retrospect, given that it ends on 6, episodes 3-5 were fricking awful and useless. episode 2 at least introduces some of the mystery like 1 does, but given how short the series was, 3-5 spends a lot of time beating around the bush on miscellaneous plot points that don't even matter. the story would be basically the same if danvers didn't have an eskimo kid, or if navarro didn't have a suicidal sister. it was all meaningless
