Of course they aren't being met, he said so himself when Bertie bailed on him to go to the Jelly Lakes in season 1 and she hasn't done a thing to change that.
Feels like most of the show is about making sure Bertie is taken care of
Even when Tuca goes through stuff, she's usually doing it alone--Bertie is sometimes there, but she's never really there completely for Tuca
We just had an episode where Tuca helps Bertie go through her own therapy assignment... we get tons of introspection from Tuca during her own stuff because Bertie can't really be relied on
Speckle is this selfless non-character who loves Bertie and does just about everything for her, but that just makes him 2dimensional (afterall, doormats tend to be flat)
Still mad that Bertie let her younger coworker get bad touched in season 1
Bertie is actually quite unlikable. How she pressures Speckle into making her his big gala's caterer and completely fricks it up only to land her dream job while Speckle is all stressed out.
Frick she'd be so high maintenance if she was actually a real person.
I always thought I'd hate Tuca because she's such a loud, rude bawd but her positive attitude is infectious and she's grown a lot of a character, the most relatable moments in the show are hers, meanwhile Bertie has gotten worse yet still fails upwards somehow.
I guess I shouldn't be analysing a cartoon this much when just about every episode has a subtle "men bad" message throughout.

I feel like Lisa Hanawalt must have a really good relationship and it shows through Speckle but literally every other male character in the show is either a creep, rapist, idiot or entitled butthole.
I think most of the characters are dumb/jerks, the male ones just tend to have their gender centered around it--but this just means that it's not really a valid criticism, the show still isn't doing a good job of being anti-male. Of course, as I argue that, I would say that it's the shows attempt at taking on "the patriarchy"/male privilege and isn't doing a good job of that either
but every episode there's at least one chick who is actually a huge jerk
This most recent one was professional b***h and/or the bat who hates her own child
Anon, one of the only characters who has no flaws is a dude (speckle)
even if the show was anti male, they aren't doing a good job of having the main characters boyfriend/fiance be the most upstanding, patient, kind, and consistent character on the show
That's the ultimate irony of women-lead shows.
The real kicker is that if the roles were reversed, Bertie would be labeled a terrible character for being so supportive.
Really makes you wonder about the thought processes of most women writers.
I think the creator is just writing from lived in experiences and has no self-awareness when it comes to the feminist angle.

Ah, of course.
I've only seen season 1 and all I kept thinking was what a terrible person Bertie was. The show is 90% about her and her feelings and her career and her trauma and 10% about Tuca.
Effectively, she's a very selfish person, but we're supposed to ignore it because she puts on the front of being a shy quiet good girl, and because out of nowhere it's revealed she was touched as a kid, gone as a plot point as quickly as it came.
It's no more evident than with her relationship with Speckle. The first episode, ok, setting it up like it's comedic with her using the sugar/ashes and her catchphrase seemingly being, "Don't break up with meeeeeeee." Then practically every episode has her ignoring him and his feelings. She thinks their sex life is boring and bursts into tears during roleplay he's not entirely comfortable with. She hates doing the couples thing because she finds it boring and runs away to the lake without telling him. And don't even get me started on the Pastry Pete thing, which she never told him anything at all about. She starts jerking off to another man manhandling her and there's zero follow up or fallout, just another kooky sitcom plot about buying a dream home, which she again lets Speckle down by ghosting him. (Plus she lets that other girl experience the same thing.)
It's just bad writing at the end of the day. Lisa wants it to be a relatable comedy but feels it has to have these beats of real trauma, which is why they feel very shoehorned and never actually get addressed significantly. Even stuff like Bertie being awesome at work but the men shut her down (when she's just shy,) and the boss immediately realizes how awesome she is and promotes her, and then we never see that job again. It deserved to get canned the first time, honestly.
How are seasons 2 & 3 in this regard? Does Speckle ever read her the riot act? Someone said she forces him to cater his event and she fricks it up, sounds very par for the course.

You're a sexist pig because I'm in the same position as them right now, but I agree with you because I'd love to have a loving bf/hubby to pop out kids. Thing is, I literally can't afford that luxury. I can't even find time to date between 2 jobs, and from what I've learned around me (and here), neither can a lot of men. T&B feels like a relatable breath of fresh air; just one that needs to be accompanied with weed or booze so the existential dread of reality and crushing loneliness can wade off for a little while longer.

Yes. I watched Regular Show when I was 13 and I'm 23 now.
I really doubt women in their 30s watch Adult Swim although their programming has begun skewing that way...
