When that recent Roundtable video took a shot at Butch Hartman I rolled my eyes hard. I don't like the man or his actions but he literally hasn't done ANYTHING, good or bad, in years.
Surely there are better examples in cartoons deserving of the pinata role? Right? Hirsch pretty much tanked his own career and is best friends with a serial statrapist, and Jorge Gutierrez was on twitter recently blaming his show's failures on white people. Even Genndy recently had a bad flop to his name. And not even to get started on all the controversial pay cheat bosses in indie. Why do the only frick with some guy who just posts bible verses and middling fanart of popular IPs?

Honestly it makes sense to sell hate on Butch now considering how big of an impact on Nickelodeon he's had.

There are others that designed Hartman characters for instance. Kitty Katswell was designed by Ernie Gilbert. Several others were designed by George Goodchild. Likewise,
Steve Marmel seems to get all the credit for the good writer and Hartman is blamed for all the bad. I don't know about that. I read the original FOP pitch bible, Butch Hartman seemed to desire to to be somewhat of a deeper show than it turned out. The revised FOP pitch bible has Steve Marmel's name on it and is much more in line with the more episodic FOP we got in reality, so take that as you will. I honestly think Hartman was just better adapted at being a company man, and though his shows suffered his career flourished.

Yes, there's a lot of misinformation going around about this. I'm really autistic about this so let me explain.
Ernie Gilbert designed literally everyone in the main cast except for Dudley. There's a resume Ernie has floating around citing him as the "lead character designer" and Butch made Dudley years before he even pitched the show. George Goodchild was just the art director for all of Butch's shows but he did design a few extras like Quacky the Duck if you check out his portfolio.
Silver had nothing to do with TP or FOP. Shit I'm pretty sure Bob Boyle (the Wubbzy/Yin Yang Yo guy) had more to do with the stuff on FOP than Silver ever did.
This is, from what I understand, a constant in animation, but I think the issue is that people (read: normies and moronic animation students) are really fricking stupid and think the showrunners do EVERYTHING on a show. Why do you think so many people credit Genndy as their favorite artist ever but never credit people like Stephen DeStefano or Paul Rudish?
