Leading in with a single Avatar demonstrating the 4 elements, rather than showing a representative of each of the Nations like in the cartoon intro and *then* following it up with the explanation that just the Avatar could learn to bend all 4 elements, seems like a mismatch. Having it be 4 different Benders, moving in completely different ways, helped to reinforce that these elements are linked to wildly different cultures and require the Avatar to develop mentally/spiritually to properly understand each of them. Also feels like it's too worried about losing the audience and is awkwardly trying to frontload too much info instead of allowing it to be delivered more naturally over the course of the episode

Going for an all Asian cast was already ridiculous but why’d they have to make them all fat. Ty Lee is probably the only acceptable looking actor, everybody else just looks goofy.
They're not all fat, just the fire nation girls. This is shorthand to let us know they're evil, as all fat people are. Netflix has put more thought into this than you think.
