The writing and the direction of the action pieces were both lacking. Character were in general unlikable and it was hard to understand why did they even stick together.
>and it was hard to understand why did they even stick together.
Yun and Kin went with Izel because they thought the ball was their birthright but Izel needed it. Also they destroyed their temple and had to run away. Zyanya stayed with them because she made a deal with Mictlan to stop Izel from doing his job. Xanastaku stayed with them because she committed a murder and was trying to escape. Sorry you can only watch 11 minute Disney cartoons anon.
I don't mean plot wise, I mean they really didn't feel like people getting along and Yun and Kin reasons was always fricking stupid, specially once they lost their home town. Xanastaku also didn't had to stick with them once she escaped, this characters stuck around with other people just to bicker all the way about how much they disliked each other.
I don't know what show you watched but Kin and Zyanya were the only disagreeable ones. Yun and Xanastaku were caring and Izel was a baby but that was literally the driving force of the show. Inter-character conflict is interesting imo
It wasn't interesting, it was annoying and most we didn't get to see a group of stranger becoming comrades or good friends, but a group of unlikable people being dicks and yelling at each other. Even Xanastaku was yelling at the group after joining, and not in the good way. If you want to know why people disliked this show, that's the reason, no one could enjoy the character because they were handle poorly and had no real bonds with each other.
clearly you like it, more power to you, but most people who watched the show don't agree with you

While it's abit unfair that Onyx Equinox had shorter development and funding than normal for an animation series of its kind, same story with HGS, I doubt more money and time would help much due to the inexperience of the team. If anything I'd love to see this series revisited, but with so much of the data for it gone with no backups, it's sad.
Did want to like this, shame it's just not good outside of the art style.
I remember feeling this show was a bit “suspect” when I saw the creator’s old deviantart.
It all came together when I realized these two were the Aang and Katsura of the show.
It wasn’t perfect by any means and I largely agree with your criticisms, but the show felt new and original; that alone kept me watching. I bet if Onyx Equinox was given more resources and the creator was a little more experienced it could’ve been something great. I hope we get more stuff like it in the future, even at the expense of tight writing and directing.

I don't think so. I remember Storyboard Anon mentioned Sofia was trying to get the rights back, but we never got an update on that. Last I heard, she was working on some Marvel projects (one of them canned) and AMC.
>Brown femboy twink protagonist >cute Axolotl sidekick
It should've been a big hit
I still think it would've done better on Netflix, especially since it was right before they became an unstable trainwreck.
Dropping in to say hi, and to give Primos a chance if you're into that sort of thing.
There was something in her contract where the rights returned to her if they didn't do anything with it after five years. They might already technically be hers after the Sony merger but who knows, the animation industry is in shambles. I'm working on an independent project of my own, maybe if I become a breadtuber I'll be able to fund it myself one day.
>Exclusive LootCrate Axolotl plushies >The creator had to buy her Axolotl plushie off eBay
Crunchyroll is dumb
Crunchyroll sucks balls. One of the other brainlet moves was selling apparel and blu-rays but with no shipping to Mexico

Huh?? Sofi was never really into Avatar. Also I'm pretty sure she nuked her DA long before the show aired.

Crunchyroll probably already deleted all the concept art didn't they?
Artbook never.
I think she could get away with publishing her own artbook tbdesu. We're slowly trying to get stuff back from people who worked on the show.
The home media release gives me very mixed thoughts. I'm glad it came out at all considering so many streaming shows don't get them, but it's a very bare bones release. Just the episodes in one language track (two if you get the French version), no subtitles, and the only special feature being the clean versions of the opening and closing.
Thanks anon, and thanks for buying the blu-ray even though it sucks. Believe me, we're not happy about it.
But I've been animating very hard. My content is a little cringey right now (my main platform is TikTok) but it's drawing the audience I want. Wish me luck!
According to Sofia, two of these are lies, one is truth.
>Yaotl likes to be scratched under his ears >Izel and Nelli's father committed treason, which is why they left Tenochtitlan >Huitzilopochtli will join Tezcatlipoca's efforts to gain power over mankind and punish them
Xanastaku is also cute. She is most likeable and friendliest partymember. The rest can barely even tolerate each other and only stick together because of intimidation or are secretly scheming something. The show massively improves once she's introduced.

i dropped this show pretty quick because im sick of the philosophy that's infected Cinemaphileshit for the past decade: >if the japs can animate at 8 fps, we can get away with 6!
i like cartoons, not slideshows

The last one. Sofia mentioned she wanted to use Huitzilopochtli eventually and I'm sure we would've heard it in the show if Izel going to Tenochtitlan would be a problem.
People only care about outrage.
High Guardian Spice will get more talk and forever be remembered over Onyx Equinox

They kept the worst aspects of 80s and 90s anime females.
That's subjective tbh

She's a cartoon
Out of 10!
you're not interesting nor quirky
Isn't it pronounced "latinex"?
if they wanted to pronounce it that way they would've spelled it that way too :^)
Frick Crunchyroll and frick Disney!

If this show was broadcast in a timeline where the Aztecs, Mayans, etc were never conquered, what would they think of it?
Do the writers of the "crunchyroll originals" at least own the rights of the shows so they can continue it as a webcomic or something?
I don't think so. I remember Storyboard Anon mentioned Sofia was trying to get the rights back, but we never got an update on that. Last I heard, she was working on some Marvel projects (one of them canned) and AMC.

She is a girl lol
I've never seen this fan art before, I'm saving it
What was her name again? I just realised I never actually learned how to spell it
Zia
Zia was likable, shut up
