Those are still big studio releases that command theater presence and take up screens, something like Avatar 2 had months of no competition and week 6 could have as much presence as the opening week, not so much with busy months like these where the posters and standees and main screens etc are being rotated out constantly.
ATSV has strong audience and critic scores, great word of mouth. It'll hold it's own fairly well. Especially since it was '1st out the gate' for June.

Just got back from the afternoon showing. Had high expectations from buzz but it still impressed me. The new Spider-cast is great (with Old Pete). Spot's transition from joke villain to multiversal threat is awesome.
Into The Spider-Verse was well-reviewed, well-received, and well-liked, and this is its direct sequel. It would have been shocking if it DIDN'T do well. I don't know what people were expecting.

The movie itself tells you what Spider-Man's character is like, Miles tries to save everyone, this is what all of them would've done, and did try to do in their own media, but ATSV makes Miles the only one to have this quality so he can appear better than the others.

A billion is a stretch, the first one only made $400 million (which makes it Sony Animation's biggest hit ever, but not even close to NWH money).
Given how good the reviews/word of mouth is, it'll probably make around ~65 million next weekend (plus whatever it makes on the weekdays). The movie's budget was only $100 million since they hired voice actors instead of celebrities, so it's already made back its budget (208 million worldwide opening weekend), and I'd say it ends up in the $750 million range, earning less money than No Way Home but possibly being more profitable.
This movie might kill the "hire celebrities instead of voice actors" trend Shrek started.

This movie is legitimately beautiful. It lacks one throwaway line from Peter B when Miles is freaking out after learning about the multiversal spider suffering quota along the lines of "we're trying to figure out how to get around canon events, but the anomalies are dividing our manpower" or something. Maybe less emphasis on police captains needing to die and just a more general series of motivational deaths. One conversation with pajeet Spider-Man where he gets to describe his feelings on saving his girlfriend's dad vs endangering his universe.
Other than that it's perfect.

I don't care if they make it canon to mainline Peter that the only reason he gets to be happily married to MJ or the woman of his choice is due to Miles somehow. He can be as entangled as he needs to be to Peter's endgame happiness as marvel's editorial wants as long as Peter gets that ending before mostly retiring. The opposite is Miles maintaining his forever push, slowly inheriting Peter's shit while Peter himself sticks around awkwardly, ironically like a failed legacy character ala Tim Drake.
