On a more positive note, we get to imagine the endless incalculable seething from the likes of Colbert for being off air during the most exciting part of the Orange Man saga we’ve had in years. I’m surprised he hasn’t strangled the writers himself to be honest

I work production security and our company is holding on by threads. Most of the guards got new jobs and if it wasn’t for commercials (those are non union) we’d be belly up. I CAN say from an insider’s perspective though that EVERYONE hates those fricking writers right now, and apparently the actors are next. You might not get it, but during covid everything took a dive, and when there WAS work it was strict 6 ft social distancing and constantly constantly constantly telling everyone to put on their fricking mask. And if ONE person tested positive everything would get shut down. So WE we’re basically starting to get the ball rolling again and then this fricking bullshit drops.

It’s not going to end well either because if the actors go on strike that means promotional events (you know like a little thing called Comic-Con) would also take a hit.

Fricking mega recession incoming, and we won’t even have anything to watch to pass the time.

You wouldn’t believe how far right wing most people on show set crews are. Even most of the actors are. Remember today’s actors are basically sales reps. They’re paid to shill things that make money. Their whole lives are just Alec Baldwin’s “always be closing” speech to the point where they’re not even real people anymore.

But as for the crew, like the teamsters? Transpo, grip, lighting, camera, carpenters, and craft services are literally ALL white maga dudes.

Well then how about you gather some signatures and make a public statement that you're fine working with scab writers? The only thing preventing new blood from replacing the striking TV homosexuals is that no one will buy new scripts because the people who actually make movies happen won't work with scabs. If you're into right wing meritocracy how about you reject your commie fricking unions and let talented people work?

There’s just too much money, politics, and history at stake. I mean, you tell me, if you owned Disney would you sleep soundly at night knowing that Pedro Pascal and Bryce Dallas Howard could get hopped up on cocaine and booze and post some crazy story about how all Disney executives are secretly vampires that eat children, just for the lulz? OR would you make them sign over their social media accounts to a legal staff in exchange for $$$$$$$?

Actors actually probably work harder than everyone else, because not only are they crucial to the projects (it’s literally their faces we are on the screen) but they also have to promote, rehearse, actually act…which believe me is harder than it looks, AND on top of all that they have to keep up a positive public image as well as their appearances. There’s a reason most of these people go fricking crazy in their older years.

And don’t forget, you can never become “un-famous,” so just imagine never being able to go out in public and just be a nobody again. I’m sure the first few years are amazing, but this was the way an actor I won’t name explained it to me when I asked him why he hated his fans so much. “Imagine you’re at a family reunion, and at first it’s nice to see everyone and they’re happy to see you, but after a few hours you start thinking up excuses to leave. Only imagine you can’t leave EVER and you don’t know anyone there but everyone knows every fine detail of your life.”

That helped put it into perspective for me.

Oh there’s no doubt in my mind that the production people are all lgbtqrstuvwxyz+AI. And there’s some exceptions like wardrobe and hair/makeup. But the strong arms that make the sets and the filming of those sets possible are very very right wing. Btw you can be gay and be a republican right winger.
