I love this video. One of the things that made it so funny is that Mike defended it by saying the haters "just didn't get the joke".
Well, I did. I had that exact DVD growing up (Mario's Movie Moments) and I remember having the exact same confusion about the title screen. What the hell did inspector gadget have to do with it? Why is there a DVD menu tutorial that can only be accessed by ptoperly navigating the menu? I was the exact demographic for this video to appeal to, and even I thought it was painfully unfunny. It failed on its own terms.
But, coming back about a decade later, it's a classic. I was too cynical back then, and so was everyone else. Minecraft With Gadget is the rare and special kind of bad that fails so hard that it ends up being funnier than most successful attempts at humor. If there had been even a hint of self awareness or RLM-tier "irony" then it would have just been an unfunny waste of time like Space Cop. But the fact that a grown man in his 30s really thought that his gadget impression and the words "brown bricks in minecrap" were funny ends up making it one of the most unintentionally funny things ever made. I'm glad Mike finally embraced the meme.
