I started reading it awhile back. I found Eve to be completely unlikable as a character. She was really hard on everyone else and had an air of moral superiority while seemingly completely lacking the self-awareness necessary to understand that she's kind of an judgemental butthole.
I stopped reading after awhile, but I wonder if it ever got any better. It's hard to imagine Meredith would depict herself so badly without there being any sort of growth or redemption, but her constant nitpicking of friends and boyfriends was annoying as shit.

the question is, does Eve come around and learn to chill the frick out, or is that just how she is through the whole thing? I liked the other characters, but disliking the main character so much made it a difficult read. If she comes around, I might give it another shot. I like the art style and, character aside, Gran's writing is charming. Eve's character is realistic which may be part of the reason why I disliked her so much. She reminded me of people I knew in real life who were detestable and I didn't like being forced to experience the story through their eyes.

She does come around yet doesn’t lose herself. I agree with you though, the story is realistic enough to be painful at times. It can be as difficult as real life, but that also lends astounding realism and beauty to the good times too, and acknowledges the problems as an ingredient in what makes life so interesting, which i think is exactly why the story is so good, because it almost feels like living a real young adult life.

If you have anger management issues, sure. A key part in undoing that is understanding you’re still in control of what you do, how you act and what you say, even when you’re angry. All you have to do is consider both Russia and Palestine as victims of NATO, or you can say Ukraine isn't being ethnically cleansed in the way Palestine is, you can say Ukraine was much more recently Russian land, which doesn't compare at all to invading a country in a different continent on behalf of a 2000 year old lost claim, you could say Russia and Palestine are both underdogs.

I started reading it awhile back. I found Eve to be completely unlikable as a character. She was really hard on everyone else and had an air of moral superiority while seemingly completely lacking the self-awareness necessary to understand that she's kind of an judgemental butthole.
I stopped reading after awhile, but I wonder if it ever got any better. It's hard to imagine Meredith would depict herself so badly without there being any sort of growth or redemption, but her constant nitpicking of friends and boyfriends was annoying as shit.
Yeah she’s a bit of a b***h! I found it to be charming and a realistic complication for the character, I don’t assume Meredith’s point was that she and the character are actually superior and right all the time
the question is, does Eve come around and learn to chill the frick out, or is that just how she is through the whole thing? I liked the other characters, but disliking the main character so much made it a difficult read. If she comes around, I might give it another shot. I like the art style and, character aside, Gran's writing is charming.
Eve's character is realistic which may be part of the reason why I disliked her so much. She reminded me of people I knew in real life who were detestable and I didn't like being forced to experience the story through their eyes.
She does come around yet doesn’t lose herself. I agree with you though, the story is realistic enough to be painful at times. It can be as difficult as real life, but that also lends astounding realism and beauty to the good times too, and acknowledges the problems as an ingredient in what makes life so interesting, which i think is exactly why the story is so good, because it almost feels like living a real young adult life.

Also I think the point of things like Eve ending her relationship with Will who she basically loves, until he quits dealing drugs because she won’t date a drug dealer, is that it’s sometimes painful to have self respect. Because not wanting to date a drug dealer is a pretty respectable and sane thing to do, but it sucks if he’s otherwise someone you would be with. There are lots of moments especially near the beginning where Eve is genuinely a crabby b***h and she knows that why she’s so lonely, but it is part of the story that she knows it’s partially her fault she’s the loneliest girl at the parties and why she’s angry alone in her room while other people are being happy. It’s a long story arc that deals with realistic and complicated issues, ‘am I just a total b***h, even though I’m just trying to respect myself and my standards, and how can I be less of a b***h without giving myself away and committing to people I enable to sell drugs despite my own best judgement’. It makes it really great when he quits selling drugs and they get married 😛

Joe is a fascinating guy to me because his entire professional life is defined by the rise and collapse of the Newgrounds Style Flash Cartoon and his enteral resentment over how basically every other alumni of the time that has had any real success obtained it by abandoning the ethos and moving on.
All of the spite in his more recent output and the what seems to be now yearly "schizo breakdowns" is oriented around that fact that the type of work he likes doing is no longer profitable yet he needs to feed himself.
I watched a stream of his last year that made it pretty clear. This type of output is not the product of manic episodes but of a man who is looking for a quick way to make money while sniping at the world which left him behind, all his shame went out the door a while ago.

sketch comedy is a young persons' game. They wouldn't have been able to keep it going for much longer had they decided to stick with that schtick. It's rare that sketch comedy groups keep going well after turning 30. People who were interested in that will find younger sketch groups to watch. The people who enjoyed H3's specific brand of banter and 'wit' will follow the podcast.
