but he is smart green man. maybe we should just listen to him
Sorry Hawkeye you can’t just go back stop yourself from buying that snow plow, time doesn’t work that way. Why are you so obsessed with stopping yourself from buying a snow plow anyways when Thanos is still out there?
did we ever get confirmation his penis is mangled
we never got confirmation that it isn't
Which of course according to the conspiracy theory homosexualry of this place is actually more damning evidence of mangulation than if the media said it did happen
to shred
>changing the past doesn't change the future
Who wrote this shit? Of course it fricking does.
The movie establishes that the act of travelling to the past effectively creates a new timeline. It's like going to a different universe entirely rather than turning back time in your own. Basically its an excuse for the writers to have the characters do wacky shit without causing contradictions or paradoxes.
Thats the only feasible way time travel could work.
There are infinite timelines with infinite possibilities of every nanosecond, and you are just switching your consciousness to a different timeline.
In your original time line, everyone is still dead, the consequences of your actions still exist.
So saying you're going back in time to save someone or create a better future is a meaningless lie, you are just selfishly abandoning your reality for a different one personally.
Having it basically be a different universe really just made them look like whiny babies who can't take responsibility for their failures
>Uh oh I fricked up and half my friends are dead
>I'll go to a different universe where they aren't and pretend all that bad stuff never happened! I'm such a good guy!
They're still fricking dead, you didn't do shit
All they're doing is using infinity stones from other timelines in their own. They're not going to an alternate timeline where they didn't fail.
that's what they present it as but it makes captain america going back into their own timeline and aging through it a bit of a head scratcher, no? he either should have disappeared entirely or the ending we see actually IS set in an alternate timeline where they ultimately didn't fail
Per their rules, he must have lived in an alternate timeline. There was not a secret captain america living with Peggy this entire time. At some point old man cap decides to go say hi to his friends and returns to his timeline.
At that point the implication would be that old Captain America was always around in all these movies, in the "main" timeline, but just never interacted with anybody and never left any trace of his presence once he decided to retire. Although, this then raises the question of why Captain America, the paragon of virtue, wouldn't even try to stop shit like 9/11 or the JFK assassination, or any of the mass deaths that happened as a result of some supervillain in these movies. It's all very convoluted and in the service of a dumb script, that's why it's so unsatisfying
there's no way Cap went back in time and let Bucky be kidnapped, tortured, mind controlled and used as the winter soldier.
>It's all very convoluted
I mean that's just time travel plots in a nutshell.
No. Cap lives out most of his life in the timeline he went to to return their infinity stone and then returns to his original timeline. This basically sets up a time loop thing where Cap always gets to live his life with Peggy and then he sets things up to have Shield find that timelines real Cap and then that Cap goes on the Avengers adventures stuff we see in the movie and then he leaves to life with Peggy and restarts the cycle.
actually I just realized
might be wrong
>All they're doing is using infinity stones from other timelines in their own
the whole point is that it isn't other timelines because they return the stones, so they were always gone, same as cap always having aged with peggy. it would have to have been the same connected universe/timeline for every scene
yeah that's the deal
>the whole point is that it isn't other timelines because they return the stones
yeah but that's after the rest of the movie has happened. When they initially go back in time they're creating new timelines.
do you think when they return the stones that those specific new timelines stop existing? for one of them captain america would end up returning stones to a timeline that no longer has thanos, and that one will never has the thanos snap. maybe it becomes the agents of shield timeline
In theory yes these timelines will keep going but the events of the Loki show reveals that Kan runs a timeline police so in theory they could be destroyed by those people. Once you throw that show into the mix the entire MCU is a complete mess because the events of Loki happens after Endgame but uses the Loki from their failed attempt to steal the tesseract and his adventure effectively takes place after Avengers 2012 happens and then by the time you get to multiverse of madness he's already had his entire adventure which explains the origin of the muliverse we've seen until that point in the MCU.
ah. I'm still operating outside of the Loki lore, maybe I'll have to watch it then if it adds implications
but wait. adding to this, when they jumped back and thanos/gamora/blue chick left the timeline.. that created a split timeline? I don't remember what the bald lady said.
if you jump back in time and frick it up, the timeline splits but somehow your original one still exists. I guess. sounds stupid
Yea, you have to look at it like save files. You have the original save file. If you go back in time you're basically creating a new save file. The original doesn't get altered by this.
Isn't that just multiverse hopping then? I know comics are huge on that but still.
>Of course it fricking does.
How do you know? Have you ever changed the past or know of someone who has?
reddit man
>stick a pen thru a folded sheet of paper
It's that simple
That's just an attempt to explain portals/wormholes, which don't exist since "space" isn't something that can "bend".
>space can't bend
Explain to us the event horizon of a black hole mister science man.
So what's plan B?
Infinity War was good because you wanted to see who they killed off.
Endgame was shit because you already knew they were all coming back.
Infinity War was just well-made kino, plain and simple.
They will never make that mistake again.
if you went back in time would you date your grandmother?
It's Dragon Ball rules. You're not going back and forth along your timeline, you're jumping to another one. You can keep going back and forth between Your timeline and Timeline B, without landing at C, D, or E, as long as you're keeping your "timeline coordinates" straight. Marvel's always run like this too.
>the hulk is just always hulking now
>not even slightly annoyed or angry
>even during casual conversation about intelligent topics
capeshit fricking ruined him
>we need to go on this elaborate time heist, to all these different periods to go get all 6 infinity stones!
Or you know.... just go to 2018 and visit Thanos on his farm before he destroyed the stones, cause he had all 6 in one place.
And then what? How do you propose overpowering a Thanos with all 6 stones?
>okay see in every movie and story ever, they got it wrong and here's why
>see you can't change to change the future and if you do change the past, that creates a branching timeline and that means the original timeline is still ok
so it's a paradox and we need to make sure the timeline is the same?
>exactly! Which is why every story ever has it wrong
Because... like in 99% of stories like this, if there are multiple timelines it means we need to prevent a paradox like in every fricking story ever?
>YES THIS IS WHY WE ARE ONLY RIGHT AND THEY ARE WRONG
Why did they write such shit
He was right but jarvis found a way
>I don't want to talk about time travel because if we start talking about it then we're going to be here all day talking about it, making diagrams with straws.
