The pilot was kino.
The show that came out before UG flopped so hard they had to tone down the edginess.
Probably cause it had a adult swim edge like regular show and problem slovers
It came around the time everyone wanted pseudo-dramas with continuity and lore meanwhile any episodic comedy was deemed as inferior.

Came out at the wrong time I feel. Personally I thought the show was pretty comfy, I enjoy surrealist humor.
Came out when cartoons were trying to be lore and storybased and comedic based cartoons like uncle grandpa here were thrown onto a garbage can for not having breaching storylines

It was weird, but it’s okay at least. I personally don’t remember anyone (including myself) having problem with this show.

I liked Uncle Grandpa.
Tried to be a classic cartoon, but the art style was crap and the budget was minimal (the animation gets even worse during the very last season), the round eyes are gross and it looks like shit aside from Aunt Grandma and Frankenstein who look more detailed, I know the creator was a fan of John K and John K even did fanart of the show but it has the same problems and the shitty HBO Max Looney Tunes cartoons (also made by the crew behind this), they just don't understand the classics at all no matter how lowd they scream it is inspired by the classics, I also remember how in the Cowboy episodes they didn't allow them to use guns so they used cactuses shooting smaller cactuses instead, very cringe
Let's be fricking real, the reason it flopped was because it was fricking moronic. Too moronic. And you know the show is doomed to fail when the best character is an androgynous dinosaur with a lazy voice and their counter part is some douche named Pizza Steve or something.
