I think his writing lost sovl as he got older, but that happens to everyone. He might've improved on a technical, structural, skill based standpoint, but the fun, irreverent, self indulgent style that made his early work stand out has been beaten out of him from having to live a rich celebrity life that makes him detached from his roots. He can't make relatable comedy, because his life isn't relatable to us anymore.
But sometimes, when he's passionate about something instead of seeing it as a chore, the sovl will come back. Take the games for example. He's a self proclaimed "gamer", and those are some of the most fun and child centric south park works in years, full of wonder and absurdism and wacky stuff.
When he's not inspired at all, he unfortunately still has to write due to the contract he's under, and that leads to... Streaming Wars part one.
He has forgotten what he's passionate about, and only the rare times he remembers is when the writing shines, like the recent friendship between Stan and Tolkien, or the whole thing with Heidi and Cartman (in my opinion).
I like how he writes, I just wish he'd let himself be self indulgent more, without Randy.
because fujos are as stupid and gullible as the South Park townsfolk. Think about it, the way the residents all deluded themselves into thinking the ship was canon, only to shit themselves when they "broke up" is exactly how the fujos are in these threads. They can never accept that Tweek and Craig aren't gay because they just like the people of South Park will have a breakdown over it, so Matt and Trey have to keep them together just like Tweek and Craig in canon have to keep pretending to be together. It's a 1:1 allegory.
I'm not going to argue with someone who's just using the events from Tweek x Craig to prove his outdated argument while fully ignoring everything that happened after that episode or season.
The times when they were being romantic with each other even in private? Or when they broke up in TFBW on their own free will and made it up afterwards because they were both missing each other?

A nice episode to return to after the break. Fun example of the show's ridiculousness that I love to see so much. Randy was actually pretty funny in this episode in my opinion. I do think they could have done more with it, though, it was funny, but it could have been funnier with the concept. Good episode nonetheless.

Huh, maybe I got a little further than I thought I did, I faintly remember this episode too. Honestly my favorite kind of episode. An episode where the characters try to do something completely unreasonable, but it just keeps working eventhough it has no right to. Also, Ike is very much growing on me as a character. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that it's a good episode that feels just a bit too short. Great episode.

Makes me remember a time when I actually liked Ghost Hunters. It's good but also kind of weird to me seeing Kyle so concerned about Ike. What was the switch-over point where Kyle went from "Kick the baby" to seeming super genuinely concerned for Ike? I don't remember when that happened. Great episode anyway.

The exact kind of plot I expect out of a Butters episode. Butters doesn't have to be more assertive or mean-spirited to get into these kinds of situations. It's one of the things I liked the least about the Breast Cancer Show Ever episode last season. I think Butters works best when his innocence accidently makes him do fricked up things. Season 1 Morel Orel-style. The B-Plot with the cop whose name I have yet to memorize so I'll just call him Yolanda started hilarious, got grating, and then went right back to hilarious at the end of the episode. Bunny has been popular for a very long time. Kyman is more complicated because it gets a lot of backlash in the modern fandom. If I included fanfiction.net results it would probably look different because a lot of ancient kyman fanfiction is on there before it became “bad” to ship.
You need to try your best to write your own. I mostly enjoy stuff with mob character (random old men x any of the boys but my favorite is Tweek or Stan) and I need to write that shit myself to get it.

I don't see that. I was 9-10 years old when South Park started airing and me and all my classmates used to love it despite knowing it was for adults. If anything the first 3 seasons were easier for a kid to follow than the newers ones. South Park has been accused of corrupting the youths, but they can't be censored on that ground as long as they continue to make the case that this is a show strictly for adults and kids aren't the intended audience. If they start marketing to kids, the whole premise falls into question and the show becomes much more vulnerable to censorship. That's why they won't do it.

You feel like that isn't the case anymore because South Park has became part of American culture as well and things aren't like they used to be in the 90s. There used to be attacks on the show when it started airing, like back in 1998 when Action for Children's Television founder Peggy Charren described South Park as "dangerous to democracy" or there were many online petitions to ban the show because of the anti-Christian values and many schools banned South Park clothing. But even these days you see an occasional /misc/ack or a Chinese dictator getting rekt when South Park makes fun of them, but it probably feels different to you now.

Trey Parker has literally said the show has often been misunderstood because they just wanted to make people laugh and not hurt someone in purpose. We have seen enough of him to get a grasp of his character. I said earlier, method acting. He stays in character when not having to perform to help him when he actually does have to. Also, fujos are degenerates so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them would spy on the two of them at times, so they'd know if he dropped the act.

Kyman is actually more canon than creek. creek had to be forced together and the characters only had one relevant episode in the past where they didn't even care about each other, while everyone else did. Kyman doesn't have to be in a """canon""" relationship in order for people to see the chemistry between the two. Kyman actually has solid foundations, creek is built on nothing but delusion and forced pairing.

I think his writing lost sovl as he got older, but that happens to everyone. He might've improved on a technical, structural, skill based standpoint, but the fun, irreverent, self indulgent style that made his early work stand out has been beaten out of him from having to live a rich celebrity life that makes him detached from his roots. He can't make relatable comedy, because his life isn't relatable to us anymore.
But sometimes, when he's passionate about something instead of seeing it as a chore, the sovl will come back. Take the games for example. He's a self proclaimed "gamer", and those are some of the most fun and child centric south park works in years, full of wonder and absurdism and wacky stuff.
When he's not inspired at all, he unfortunately still has to write due to the contract he's under, and that leads to... Streaming Wars part one.
He has forgotten what he's passionate about, and only the rare times he remembers is when the writing shines, like the recent friendship between Stan and Tolkien, or the whole thing with Heidi and Cartman (in my opinion).
I like how he writes, I just wish he'd let himself be self indulgent more, without Randy.

A nice episode to return to after the break. Fun example of the show's ridiculousness that I love to see so much. Randy was actually pretty funny in this episode in my opinion. I do think they could have done more with it, though, it was funny, but it could have been funnier with the concept. Good episode nonetheless.

Huh, maybe I got a little further than I thought I did, I faintly remember this episode too. Honestly my favorite kind of episode. An episode where the characters try to do something completely unreasonable, but it just keeps working eventhough it has no right to. Also, Ike is very much growing on me as a character. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that it's a good episode that feels just a bit too short. Great episode.

Makes me remember a time when I actually liked Ghost Hunters. It's good but also kind of weird to me seeing Kyle so concerned about Ike. What was the switch-over point where Kyle went from "Kick the baby" to seeming super genuinely concerned for Ike? I don't remember when that happened. Great episode anyway.
its a shame Kyle went from 'kick the baby' to what he is now, but its not because i think he used to hate his brother- kicking him was no worse that a light bit of brotherly teasing, i mean theyre cartoon characters after all, it was fun and silly
imo the change happened because
1. Kyle turned way too moral and no longer partakes in childish teasing or mild tomfoolery

The exact kind of plot I expect out of a Butters episode. Butters doesn't have to be more assertive or mean-spirited to get into these kinds of situations. It's one of the things I liked the least about the Breast Cancer Show Ever episode last season. I think Butters works best when his innocence accidently makes him do fricked up things. Season 1 Morel Orel-style. The B-Plot with the cop whose name I have yet to memorize so I'll just call him Yolanda started hilarious, got grating, and then went right back to hilarious at the end of the episode. If anything the first 3 seasons were easier for a kid to follow than the newers ones. There used to be attacks on the show when it started airing, like back in 1998 when Action for Children's Television founder Peggy Charren described South Park as "dangerous to democracy" or there were many online petitions to ban the show because of the anti-Christian values and many schools banned South Park clothing. But even these days you see an occasional /misc/ack or a Chinese dictator getting rekt when South Park makes fun of them, but it probably feels different to you now.
