T-they're different though. They have different continuities.
Ducktales = Scrooge owns a mansion, a butler and a maid.
"Traditional" canon = Scrooge is a tightwad that would not hire a butler or extravagant mansion. Sleeps in his money bin.
Ducktales has several characters exclusive to it like the Webby or that fat duck.
At some point, you have to realize that when you put work out as an artist, it's not really yours anymore
Even if it happened constantly, why is it so hard to just smile and say, "Yep, this is Ducktales" (or "Pretty much" if there's a copyright issue) and sign shit?
One of the main characters is a shapeshifter and the span of the journey is massive, so it would either cost way too much or look like cheap CGI shit
The end sequence would be the hardest to put to film
You know it doesn't cost anything to not be a douche
>You know it doesn't cost anything to not be a douche
Europeans are genuinely baffled by America's motto of "it doesn't cost anything to be nice", so that never enters his mind
Probably for his appearances in the US where it's more likely for people to believe it's Ducktales and he's, over the years, gotten tired of explaining to people that it's not that and he'd rather be interacting with fans of his work.
The irony being that despite the changes, the new version of Ducktales was actually a lot closer to the Barks Uncle Scrooge comics, he is just bitter at Ducktales in general for having new characters in it like Gizmo-Duck and Mark Beaks.
The new Ducktales even solves the problem of Scrooge having a Butler, which the Barks version of Scrooge would be far to tight fisted to pay for, by him now being a ghost butler that he doesn't pay.
I don't get why they took Shadow over Innsmouth, probably the most easily filmable Lovecraft story, and changed it around so much. Mashing it up with Dagon, possibly the least filmable of his stories, was a weird decision. Did they just do it to shoehorn in some weird eldritch rape at the end?
Bombie was kind of great ngl love when curses get misinterpreted/magicians' plans go wrong because they were too busy using weird magic to think anything through.
I was just thinking about this bizarre tweet earlier today and then that led to me questioning why I keep coming here.
Don't forget!
This tweet still gets me. What inspires a man to type this at all, let alone post it publicly?
When trying to virtue signal your grrrrl power/latinx advocacy goes too far it's indistinguishable from sexual predator behavior. He was shooting for "right up against the line" to be the best ally possible and overshot trying to bait trolls. Oops.
This really sucks. I grew up in Norway reading these stories as they were first being published, and Bombie was a really spooky and cool character. So why remove him? It's not like the stories made me hate Black folk. Being around real-life Black folk makes you hate Black folk.
Not true, it is the Barks original Bombi story they won't reprint without altered character designs, not the Don Rosa prequel in Life and Times, as Rosa did alter the character designs. The issue was that in the Barks version the tribesmen were drawn with black and white minstrel style racial returns like mahoosive lips and stuff, fairly standard for the time, but considered offensive these days, Rosa changed enough to be passable. These days when Bombi shows up, like in the recent version of DT, the character is reimagined as less ethnic, taking away the controversy.
Cuckoos are Scrooge's greatest allies and always have been. They're the only birds in their entire region that believe in Capitalism and democracy. They're welcome in Duckburg anytime!
>the opening where they're looking for Chris >the Chicago/Home invasion/ April fools motherfrickers following Hanna around stuff >Hanna's short Vietnam flashback/battle >Neil 5 day robbery/tunnel shit >the disk shit >Neil romance >Chris shit >Hanna in the present day
Even the minor stuff with the antagonists and side characters. Not sure what the frick Mann's game plan is.
>Panic buy the complete collection before ~~*they*~~ remove the Bombi story from future editions >It doesn't have Rosa's commentary pages from the 90s edition
Anything by Lovecraft, because normies know him as the guy who named his cat Black person man
Don Quijote, becauses its actually boring as shit
Moby Dick, because you cant do the autism justice in a movie format
Malazan since there is a bunch of shit that would be cut out even if it made into a television show. The backlash would be astronomical even by Fantasy standards
Could only work as an animated show, where each episode adapts one story from the book.
americans dont know don rosa
Do Americans really?
>writes tales about ducks
>ITS NOT DUCKTALES YOU STUPID AMERIMUTTS
Not like he's wrong.

This just screams "bitter old man"
I'd ask him where the Darkwing Duck comics are.
Where's Daffy Duck?
This

Ducktales is irrelevant outside of America and the comics really popular so he's not at the point where he actually has to do any of that.
One of the main characters is a shapeshifter and the span of the journey is massive, so it would either cost way too much or look like cheap CGI shit

If that's the case, then why does he even need the sign?
Americans really are stupid, aren't they?

Then why doesn't he just not explain it?
funny how this picture always makes morons seethe
And no one ever mentions the "chiles".
so uhhh, what's it called?
"Uncle Scrooge & Donald Duck"
The irony being that despite the changes, the new version of Ducktales was actually a lot closer to the Barks Uncle Scrooge comics, he is just bitter at Ducktales in general for having new characters in it like Gizmo-Duck and Mark Beaks.

It's because Disney refused to give him royalties. Picrel was a moderately interesting watch.
I remember no one on Cinemaphile used to ever bring up the 2017 ducktales show without some autismo spamming this.
Classic Cinemaphile
I always preferred Donald growing up but it’s crazy how much Scandinavia adores him
Not only Nordic countries but he's big in Italy/Portugal as well. Probably Spain too.
Crazy shit. I think Rosa won Finland over for good when he released The Quest for Kalevala.
Not sure if anyone especially loved that, he was already autistically loved before it.
>Sea creature tales

big in Poland too
Not a single black duck or goose to be seen in those stories, Don Rosa is too problematic for a hollywood adaptation.
We've got you covered anon 🙂

didn't he turn out to be a pedo
>wienery teenagers
cowabunga dude
Not that Don Rosa would admit it, but I think he surpassed Barks.
A friendly reminder that Disney has banned the 11th chapter of the book from ever being reprinted because of the character Bombie the Zombie.
Bombie was kind of great ngl love when curses get misinterpreted/magicians' plans go wrong because they were too busy using weird magic to think anything through.

Just checked my Italian copy reprinted in 2016, we didn't censored it.
The censoring was announced last year.
19 more years until Scrooge hits public domain. Less so for Donald. Patience lads.

Seems like you missed the news last year. Even Rosa seethed about it.
What about the 2021 deluxe edition? IIRC, it had the 12 chapters alright.
>Unfilmable books.
>No...Sorry! This is not "Ready Player One"
I don't see why not.
Do you think Scrooge ever clashed with a certain group trying to control the world's finances?
Cuckoos are Scrooge's greatest allies and always have been. They're the only birds in their entire region that believe in Capitalism and democracy. They're welcome in Duckburg anytime!
>Richest duck in the world
>Keeps his assets liquid
This funnily enough.

Great book you bad mother fricker. The ending is fantastic.
One of the few truly unfilmable books
DuckTales (1987) is so frickin' kino bros. Cartoons were on another level back in the day. I am ten episodes away from finishing this masterpiece
This comic is actually pretty sad, the amount of times Scrooge threw away true happiness for his israeli need for gold is just sad

his adhd couldn't get him through the meta stories
You havent read it either, or you would know what i mean. Atleast i got to the vomit chapter.
I did read it all though. My favorite part was the tavern brawl where everybody takes Quixote's side.
>Quixote
>boring as shit
Low IQ.
