Schofield Kid was wienery and putting it on right up until he had to deal with actually killing someone. Then he realized yeah this life ain't for me. It was then he started to understand William Munny.
'Killing ain't no way to make a living, curse ma soul, I'm unforgiven'
this movie is so overrated. its no way the best western.
The movie shows how evil roasties are. They make fun of a paying customer for his small dick, then demand he hets killed for slightly hitting one of them, make up a story about how he mutilated her when nothing of that sort happened, then reject the peace offers and attempts to pay compensation and get an innocent man killed in the process.
>Well, I guess they had it comin... >We all have it comin, kid.
It’s not the best Western but it’s still a great fricking film.
You could write an entire thesis on it. In my opinion is that it brings into conflict modernity with antiquity. It offers an untamed world, filled with nature, violence, small groups of individuals, where heroes and villains can have great effects upon the world. It's simple and complex. At the same time, all the cowboys and towns and such are the product of the old world, of thousands of years of technological and philosophical progress. Their morality is our morality, in a very close way. It's the last frontier the modern man had to contend with the ancient unconquered world.
it's a blank tableau like the ancient wilderness. Human archetypes stand out more clearly in a simple world, like Leone's west or Once Upon a Time specifically. Gods of life and death.
I wish this movie didn't beat you over the head so much. It's like 50% good and 50% unbearable. The scene of William chugging the bottle as he hears about Ned's death is so fricking funny. A little later you see a POV shot of William walking through the dark throwing a bottle in front of him. That shot is far more efficient and potent than having him just casually start drinking again.
yeah, I don't really like it. and I think Clint is an underrated director because he's a goy, a former actor, and doesn't try to punch above his weight except with this movie.
The actor was fricking perfect and so was the character. Complete fronting tryhard bullshitter trying to mimic the bad men he heard about in stories. came across perfectly.
Sounds like youre being nit picking to actually try and find something wrong with this movie. filtered.

waht?
For me the weakest link is the young blind kind. He was kind of a gay and the actor sucked.
The character is an insufferable try hard. The actor did a great job.
>waht?

it just has no style. every good Western has great music, and unique cinematography and they just feel and look cool. this always felt pretty regular to me. sure the premise and story is good. but its just not done in an interesting way.
i thought it had a nice style, kind of like desolated or withered away. A lot of gray saturated colors, dead trees etc. and i'm sure it's on purpose since that's the theme of the movie.
It was the deconstruction of the western. The movie deliberately sets up clint as a complete non-badass. He can't farm, can't shoot. He's an old drunk who did bad things and only got sobered up by a woman and family.

the movie is stark and desolate showing the degradation of the west and most of the characters who tell tall tales like the writer, English bob and Schofield kid are revealed to be complete frauds who just embellished the image of the west but aren't built for the gritty reality.

What's a "free one"?
>It's a hell of a thing; killin' a man. You take away everything he ever had and ever would have.
Way I see it is, it's either you or him. Might as well be him
>Well, I guess they had it comin...
>We all have it comin, kid.
it's perfect how the Schofield Kid was a wienery butthole until he saw Munny angry, then he just shat himself and hoped Munny wasn't angry at him.

You butchered that quote
What makes the American west such a kino setting?
Manly freedom
It was the last period of time before income tax and there was a lot of free land.
freedom and sparsely populated areas

An untamed, wild land full of people who are living in a mostly lawless way free of the constricting rules and controls of modern society.

>SAY THE LINE CLINT!
>I ain't like that no more
>YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Unforgiven, should have been a musical.
'Killing ain't no way to make a living, curse ma soul, I'm unforgiven'
It's a Metallica song. Actually, it's three or four Metallica songs.
this movie is so overrated. its no way the best western.
It's not at all although Clint's character and the way they showed him is very interesting

None of that actually happened in the movie. Looks like the point of the movie went above your head completely.
All of that happened
Shitty movie
For me, it’s Pale Rider
