It's a bit odd, most werewolf media I see the moon just has to be out. I can only think of Van Helsing having the direct moonlight rule.
It's theoretically a way to have Winston keep coming back without actually letting him join the group. A werewolf who only transforms once a month and in moonlight isn't really useful but it's just useful enough that you don't have to worry about him getting killed by some other supernatural entity.
I think he still has some wolf-senses; like better smell and hearing, plus probably improved stamina and strength (a guess)

I watched the episode, and Edred still comes off as a petty jerk most of the time. You could at least say that Winston is in denial about some things or still clueless. At the very least now that Melinda seems to be more control of herself and her memories, she should be the one to put an end to this love triangle. But I'll admit I find the whole thing amusing so I don't mind the gag continuing.

Not that anon, but the premise of the show is that the host bodies of the team are are younger than they should be. Merlin commented on it and appeared shocked by it in the elf episode. Dimitri-Edred seems to be less stoic and more expressive than regular Edred. I think the idea is that some of Edred's current behavior is affected by Dimitri being younger than previous host bodies. It's making him act like a hormonal juvenile; he gets insecure, confrontational and angry. Melinda and Seng got even younger host bodies and their awakening went more noticeably wrong, but Edred wasn't completely unaffected by it either.
Or that's how I'm interpreting the situation at this point.
Of course, there's the counter-argument that we haven't seen regular Edred a lot, so it's hard to tell how he normally acts like. Since he made such a short-sighted move by running off from his wedding, perhaps he's just always been a dumb adolescent.

Not a comment on this episode specifically but I'm genuinely shocked just how underdeveloped the script is and I think it shows the most with how little fricks were given to how Winston's werewolf rules work.

No one's even mentioned Morgana yet and I bet when someone does it's going to be treated like a big reveal despite Emma and the audience knowing all about it.
Now that I think about it I'm annoyed they didn't do this/aren't going to do this, it'd be a good way to show how little Winston takes this whole thing seriously

It does raise a good question, if elves are immortal then why does edred even need to reincarnate? It may even work better with the story if Edred kept his original body and just waited for the other two to reincarnate, because it's not like Dimitri has that much of an effect on him.
Clearly if Melinda is doing it he would do it too, he's not going to just wait around for thousands of years apart from her. The monk guy presumably ages and dies too, and if anybody dies by violence they'd still need their souls stuck in Copernicus.
I guess if one of them gets killed they can regroup at another point in time. It'd make for an interesting conflict point since this incarnation of hosts is more self aware but I don't see it happening. Would have been cool to have all 3 unicorns struggle with their human hosts who keep consciously fighting against their parasitism because they could die while their host would still remain alive. Essentially treating them as disposable but still needing to fight the evil.
Oh well.
I imagine they'll semi-sequel bait and leave it on a note that can continue later (like Primal 1A) and do just that if they're renewed

Tbh in the earlier episodes Winston had a lot of shots where he really looked like a nomal guy, and he didn't come across as especially lame or goofy for an 18-year-old. If body snatching was always supposed to be a temporary deal, Melinda could have saved a lot of trouble by saying that to Emma. She still wouldn't be a 100% okay with it but it'd ease the conflict from the first couple of episodes.

It's a good take on their reality atm. Melinda knows Edred left his comfortable station to be with her but she can't promise him a happy future. Edred knows his but also what obligations he's leaving behind though he intended on returning after the evil business is done. In theory this was supposed to be a passionate moment, but it's not happy at all.

It's probably a case by case basis for every person that gets cursed. Some have better control over it than others and some just lose their selves in it.
It's a bit odd, most werewolf media I see the moon just has to be out. I can only think of Van Helsing having the direct moonlight rule.
It's theoretically a way to have Winston keep coming back without actually letting him join the group. A werewolf who only transforms once a month and in moonlight isn't really useful but it's just useful enough that you don't have to worry about him getting killed by some other supernatural entity.

Dimitri-Edred seems to be less stoic and more expressive than regular Edred. I think the idea is that some of Edred's current behavior is affected by Dimitri being younger than previous host bodies. It's making him act like a hormonal juvenile; he gets insecure, confrontational and angry. Melinda and Seng got even younger host bodies and their awakening went more noticeably wrong, but Edred wasn't completely unaffected by it either.
Or that's how I'm interpreting the situation at this point.
Of course, there's the counter-argument that we haven't seen regular Edred a lot, so it's hard to tell how he normally acts like. Since he made such a short-sighted move by running off from his wedding, perhaps he's just always been a dumb adolescent.

Not a comment on this episode specifically but I'm genuinely shocked just how underdeveloped the script is and I think it shows the most with how little fricks were given to how Winston's werewolf rules work.

No one's even mentioned Morgana yet and I bet when someone does it's going to be treated like a big reveal despite Emma and the audience knowing all about it.

Maybe there'll be a new element where the curse progressively gets worse and less of the human side is reflected in the transformation and perhaps simply staying out of direct moonlight no longer changes a werewolf back

It does raise a good question, if elves are immortal then why does edred even need to reincarnate? It may even work better with the story if Edred kept his original body and just waited for the other two to reincarnate, because it's not like Dimitri has that much of an effect on him.
Clearly if Melinda is doing it he would do it too, he's not going to just wait around for thousands of years apart from her. The monk guy presumably ages and dies too, and if anybody dies by violence they'd still need their souls stuck in Copernicus.
I guess if one of them gets killed they can regroup at another point in time. It'd make for an interesting conflict point since this incarnation of hosts is more self aware but I don't see it happening. Would have been cool to have all 3 unicorns struggle with their human hosts who keep consciously fighting against their parasitism because they could die while their host would still remain alive. Essentially treating them as disposable but still needing to fight the evil.

It's a good take on their reality atm. Melinda knows Edred left his comfortable station to be with her but she can't promise him a happy future. Edred knows his but also what obligations he's leaving behind though he intended on returning after the evil business is done. In theory this was supposed to be a passionate moment, but it's not happy at all.
I stated a theoretical Twillion for 5e Dungeon's and Dragons, with the idea that the sword gets stronger the more Edred reincarnates.
