I'm a little disappointed. At first I thought the capital was actually being run by 18-25 year olds at the end of the war, and so the edginess needed to create the hunger games is fricking ironic because it's something dumb only inexperienced young adults could derive without adult supervision (because presumably the adults are all dead).
I thought the worldbuilding otherwise was really good, showing how utterly fricked the capital was from the start and how much of a half-baked afterthought the hunger games originally were pre-monitization.

Snow's character is developed better. More time spent on the post-HG relationships between Lucy and snow, and snow and sejanus.
Some minor plot points are explained, like the girl who got SNAKED in Dr
Gall's lab, and the poison compact is explained a bit better.
This is just a personal opinion, but the singing plays better in the book, it felt a bit cringe at times on screen

I'm just watching the leo review and didn't read the book but it sounds like Snow's internal monologue shows a huge contrast to how he presents himself to those around him. Apparently he verbally calls Sejanus his friend but in monologue he views him as pathetic and hates him

>all the buildings are in an old style (Snow's mansion or the university) or brand new like the Department of War, meaning the Department of War was destroyed during the rebellion
>tech and furniture look outdated because only old shit survived (in some forgotten warehouses or abandoned bunkers) the war and what is left of the old industry is so fricked they can only replicate old models/blueprints
>all the songs are pretty much a direct warning to Snow
>Lucy Gray was surprisingly trustworthy and you can see that when she showed Snow where to find the guns, even putting herself in danger

The film is beautifully paced with a slow yet steady burn, did not expect a fricking prequel to the cheesy action romance trilogy for teenagers to be this good.
