Javier Botet is pretty good as Dracula but I don't like how they survived at all. Everyone should be dead.

So again setup for something going nowhere?
      >Dracula Untold sets up Dracula in modern times - no sequel
      >The Mummy sets up Tom Cruise as half-god - cancelled franchise
      >The Invisible Man sets up Elisabeth Moss as Invisible Woman - no news since 3 years
      >Renfield sets up world of Vampires based on Dracula's blood
      >Demeter - sets up basically black Van Helsing
What the frick are they even doing? Why are they setting up things that will never come? Can't they just stick to the plan instead of doing same shit over and over again?

Essentially yes, but the movie will probably flop hard and doesn't matter.

You forgot the Shape of Water with the Creature from the Black Lagoon

These motherfrickers couldn't even handle putting out an Incredible Hulk movie every few years. And when it came to the monster stuff? I'm glad my grandpa is dead so he doesn't have to watch as Universal destroys it.

Meanwhile Godzilla is fighting King Kong and Ju-On is teaming up with Sadako from the Ring.

Some things have better longevity. It's funny to say it considering how long gothic horror icons were popular but since the mid 90s the landscape of horror changed for good.

Yes, close to 100M. They went full autistic with sail ship replica and Dracula mechatronics. Many people complain about CGI in movies, so they went old fashioned. This costs a lot.

Add ruby gillman, Flash, transformers, indy, reinfield, 65, no hard feeling, hypnotic, kandahar, the covenant and air.

Same budget as MI but won't even pass 400m
                MI will reach around 600m

        >The Last Voyage of the Demeter is estimated to be made on a huge budget of US $100 million. In 2021, principal photography for the film took place first in Berlin and then in Malta, concluding on October 1. In December 2022, the screenplay credits were given to Schut and Olkewicz, with Schut receiving credit for the screen story. Additionally, Brian, Cauffiel, Hart, Ruzowitzky, and Schwentke were credited for their contributions as off-screen writers, providing additional literary material.

that's just some frickin jeet website.

          >The big question right now is in regard to the budget, which has not been released as of this writing. Though the trailers for director Andre Ovredal's latest indicate it sure as heck wasn't cheap. If I were to guess? Probably in the same neighborhood as the studio's creature feature "Beast" from last year, which came with a $38 million price tag.

Beast didn't build a fricking 60 meter sailing vessel. If Beast, which was rather scaled down, cost them 35 mil then this may be closer to 90 mil

            >The film set for such production is considered to be a milestone for the Malta Film Studios, since it includes the biggest ship to be ever constructed and used at the Malta Film Studios. The ship, 60 meters in length, was built by Maltese local craftsment in Malta in less than 4 months.[...]

              >The filming of parts of “The last voyage of the Demeter” has reached its latter stages and according to the Films Commission this is expected to benefit the Maltese economy by €18 million.
so around half the budget for the main ship shooting, half for filming in cheaper locations, sfx + pay the no name cast.

I think this will do ok but on the low side. The preview looks ALMOST interesting, it just looks too limited for a feature. Maybe have multiple boats, or it's on land and they try to escape on a boat. Dunno, but it just looks very repetitive / too small a concept to last an entire movie.

Certainly cant be breaking verisimilitude with a black Cambridge educated man. Question purple hair dialators, if there were always blacks being given opportunity at Ivy League education, why are they so useless? Why are you still combating prejudice if Black folk were always at Cambridge? Baffling
