I think that makes him look cooler. Sometimes a situation calls for exceptional action and risking a bit. Knowing when to forget about the rules is important. Leaving a stronger impression on Quigley so he doesn't forget that moment and message is worth the consequences a lil spell like a glamour has in a khert fire
I'm alright with it. They've only known each other like a week or so and they've only been on properly good terms with each other for less than 24 hours. Would feel odd for them to start making out right now, even if they are teenagers.

Duane, Sette, Quigley, and perhaps even Jivi have things they need to address. Which is why I think those four, plus Matty, are going to be trekking up north to Alderode in the second book.

Obviously has a lot of shit to work out, and yet the whole "you're not the main character, your story is already over" might suggest that he won't get the chance to work it out. He died and life went on without him, returning to his family as a rotting simulacrum when they already got over his death would cause more issues than it'd solve, so maybe just accepting it and leaving them alone is the best closure he can hope for.

There are only two major plot points left for her. First is her brother, which seems like it's going to get resolved pretty soon (she's going into the khert and lionbro is on the other side) and the second is her father, which is going to take a lot more.

Saving Matty and admitting that he loves him will more or less wrap up his arc.

Obviously there's this whole thing with his pirate mom, but aside from shaping Jivi's backstory she seems to have zero relevance to the actual plot so I don't see how she's going to get wrapped up in this. It's fine to just leave it as backstory IMO.
Knock does have some death flags and the way she's going after Ana is a prime heroic self-sacrifice setup, but I hope she'll live. She's a fun character and it's neat to have someone else from Sette's family in the main crew to provide some perspective here and there.
