honestly they're probably just all his hallucinations, I don't think Sette would be picked up like that without making some noise, and she's always seemed fully lucid in the Khert
Maybe, but probably not. It is probably a representation of his memory of Mikaela that he's been clinging to, verses the real Mikaela that grew up without him that he doesn't know anymore.
I think it's also partially because all of this opens up so many uncomfortable possibilities that he didn't have to deal with before. For years he just assumed he was assassinated by Crescians and his daughter was collateral damage.
Now he can't avoid the fact that he always knew on some level that his brother was involved in his death, and that for nearly a decade said brother has been raising his daughter as his own. Nothing is certain anymore, everything is chaos.
Which is why he says he should be happy, and he is now allowing himself to realize that he isn't happy.he can't be. He's furious that Mikaela grew up with rotten Lemuel as a father and not him

>In case you were wondering why he's been so bizarrely quiet for the last two-hundred pages about this world-shattering plot twist - 3/10, Duane wasn't a fan of it. Really an example of that old adage: "There are two tragedies in life—not getting what you want, and getting it."

I'm thinking that whole event fricked with his own self-mythologization more than anything else. He's been "Punished Zombie: A man denied his daughter" for so long that he probably doesn't know what to do with himself without his grief. And on top of that has probably come to the conclusion that in the grand scheme of things [spoier] he was the only one who really lost anything that night with everyone else moving on and enjoying life while he alone was stuck as a perpetual suffering machine.[/spoiler]

He's part of Sette's gang now. Sette will save him.
Suddenly having his memory of his sweet, boisterous little girl replaced by the reality of a reckless, vengeful, cheerfully violent teenager would mess anyone up, I guess.
Reminder though that although she didn't know who Duane was and tried to kill him, she DID recognise something about him.
I think it was the colour of his casting that started to trigger memories. I hope that she starts putting two and two together and eventually does to lemon what she tried to do to Bastion.
I'd say there's like an 9 out of 10 chance that Lem is still alive. The last time we saw him, his vliegeng was circling overhead and he still has his rocket shoes.
Yeah, we've still got to do the scene where Duane, Lemuel and Michaela all meet, and Michaela breaks Duane's heart once again by siding with her dashing uncle against the creepy zombie-thing that's speaking in a parody of her father's voice.
I think a calm and collected Duane would be suave enough to win her over. He's not going to pull her in a hug anytime soon though.
Unless Lemuel fricks it up and start saying to Mikhaila that this isn't Duane at all, just a plod made to speak like him.

Right now I don't think Duane would even remotely attempt to convince her otherwise, I think it's gonna be awhile before he comes back around to the idea of reconnecting or revealing himself to her or the other surviving family, if at all

Ooh... it's been a while since Cope updated the Q&A image. A little glimpse into the future. Khert Duane seems lucid and upset. But it also looks like Sette's head, so maybe it's that proper heart-to-heart they're going to have.
blue bundle's sette ain't it

I meant like in a fricked up khert-memory kinda way not actual sette
she'll probably land right on top of him while he's getting all broody

I'm pretty sure it's a much deeper issue than just "My brother raised my daughter"

>I prefer the ghost e-girl
Duane's Child lover instinct coming out

Gonna be hard to skewer a corpse

There's no way in hell lemon is dead yet. It's like you've never seen an animu in your lifu.

I believe in Lemuel 🙂

The shot of Duane running along the back of a vliegeng knowing the vliegeng fly along khert lines is so good.
Damn. Harsh.
