I know Duane is very deep in his own head and equally as far up his own ass, but what the frick did he expect? He LIVED in Shartershane. He has seen how people react to Sette. It's a fricking wonder she actually had a relatively safe space under a roof at all,
The guy who gave him that safe space is the Nary, so I guess he expected if the dude could accommodate an extremely dangerous magic zombie he could provide his mutant daughter with clean straw.
He uses that pronunciation because it also corresponds to a Tainish word only he is familiar with, whereas everyone else goes with “Setty”, am I remembering that right?
No, it's pronounced Setty in Aldish, the sharte spelling of it as Setty is because they hear the Aldish word and spell it as they would a Continental word
Settle has weirdo Ghost/Memory powers. They're not commented on, but demonstrated throughout the comic. Some fun hits include her using them on Duane to keep him from going nuts during the play, or wiping away her own memlries of being abused by Nary.
One of the memories she heavily edited with her spooky memory powers, was of the stable she lived in. In her edited version, it looked nice; cozy, instead of the trash pile and actual doggy bed it was in reality.
Ooh buddy you should do a reread to check on any time Sette was remembering something. Even as early as chapter one, you can see hints of her real memories being overlaid by nicer ones. Does the amulet have some effect? My guess is yes, but the "shut the frick up and live in this version of reality" she used to quiet him down in Lori's office is all her
It looks like it, which is super interesting because it shows she’s aware of Duane even within her own memories, and that this is more dream than memory. Next page will hopefully clarify whether that’s the case for sure.
>And now Duane finally realizes just how bad Sette's life used to be.
But will it finally allow him to pull his head out of his own ass and finally revert away from the bad decision oroboros he has crafted himself into
Kek I just caught up and was just going to make a thread on this series perfect timing. Also the thing that shocked me in my catch up was jive x sette? I mean part of me shipped it back in the day but yeah out of left field really.
See I felt that too but after he was talking about her giving him a kiss. Like I know his idea but it felt to playful and weird. Like from that to asking for a kiss and holding sette's hand. Without the two kisses I'd just think he's treating her like Matty now but that stuff felt idk like even the writer shipped it
Nary did nothing wrong

Oh hey, the Q&A gat a new picture
don't ask questions you don't want the answers to, ESPECIALLY what Beadman puts in the pies
That's pretty catchy. I'd eat the mystery pie.
>Mr. Enfornio's Children Pies
>It's really all in here!
I know Duane is very deep in his own head and equally as far up his own ass, but what the frick did he expect? He LIVED in Shartershane. He has seen how people react to Sette. It's a fricking wonder she actually had a relatively safe space under a roof at all,
Given Sette's loyalty to her father? More.
The guy who gave him that safe space is the Nary, so I guess he expected if the dude could accommodate an extremely dangerous magic zombie he could provide his mutant daughter with clean straw.
This post feels like something Sette would tell herself while sleeping on piss-soaked straw with a black eye.
>sees Babby Sette
>immediately teases her with a pun
Duane is still a dad beneath all the maggots
Fatherhood never leaves a man like Duane, no matter what happens to him.
>a Sette not yet set
Oh Duane and his dad jokes
He uses that pronunciation because it also corresponds to a Tainish word only he is familiar with, whereas everyone else goes with “Setty”, am I remembering that right?
They're pronounced the same but spelled differently iirc.
iirc according to Ashley everyone else says Setty, but Duane says Seh-tayh, like it's with an Italian accent.
No, it's pronounced Setty in Aldish, the sharte spelling of it as Setty is because they hear the Aldish word and spell it as they would a Continental word
Everyone pronounces it the same, but he's the only one who actually knows to spell it correctly.
Sette misremembering her "childhood" has been foreshadowed for such a long time, it's weird to see it actually acknowledged
What are you talking about?
Settle has weirdo Ghost/Memory powers. They're not commented on, but demonstrated throughout the comic. Some fun hits include her using them on Duane to keep him from going nuts during the play, or wiping away her own memlries of being abused by Nary.
I know all that but what are you referring to on this page in particular?
One of the memories she heavily edited with her spooky memory powers, was of the stable she lived in. In her edited version, it looked nice; cozy, instead of the trash pile and actual doggy bed it was in reality.
Oh. Neat.
I'm too much of a brainlet to have worked this out myself but I appreciate the explanation, it adds a lot to the narrative
>Some fun hits include her using them on Duane to keep him from going nuts during the play
I thought that was the amulet?

Even if it isn't (entirely) the amulet-- she has a similar effect on Boo and various other constructs throughout the comic.
sette is talking to duane here isnt she

She's got it lucky. A lot of kids never had a stable upbringing.
It's a kennel, disphit.
why do you have to ruin a funny joke
But they use dogs in place of horses.
>And now Duane finally realizes just how bad Sette's life used to be.

My read on that is Jivi is just being the kind kid he is there. A gesture to comfort Sette.
