Some things are so ridiculous that even refuting them would lend more credence than they deserve. Sette is so firmly asexual that the mere suggestion of a crush doesn't warrant a response.
What's the crush implying? I always thought it was like a replacement father/daughter relationship. Still, I did not expect brevity so soon. Classic Sette and Duane, fricking finally.
>What's the crush implying?
Duane's just (rightfully) embarrassed and trying to deflect Sette's judgement as an issue with her. It's like any time Sette called him a childlover or asked if he was in love with her.

The Squish Wagon might look a bit like Rom the Vacuous Spider. Panel 3 reminds me a bit of the giant snake part in Sekiro

I'm 99% sure it's Sekiro.
Nah it's gonna be some weird ass Vagrant Story reference.
>There's a really blatant video game visual reference on this page and points to the reader who calls it out first :3 I was in a mood!

"Big snake/dragon thing looms behind a wall/cliff while the protagonists hide from it" isn't exactly a Sekiro original visual, had you not pointed it out I never would have made a connection.
I swear I remember seeing her post about Sekiro at some point
>isn't exactly a Sekiro original visual
I never said Sekiro invented big snakes, you pedantic autist. She said the visual was blatantly based on a video game and since Sekiro, a video game she has mentioned she likes, has visuals that are very close to what's shown in the comic it's an obvious connection to make.
Duane is very easily flustered when the subject of adultery comes up. Well, he still considers it adultery, anyway. Lem would probably laugh, if circumstances were different.
Never mind what that stoopid anon is flapping his gums about, Cutter said that exact same phrase about the man Duane is when they fought. Everyone else is always 2 steps ahead of him, his brother, tittybird, Nary, Bastion, and even this fricking lizard who never met him before a few days ago.

>Everyone else is always 2 steps ahead of him,
I'd say more Duane is constantly 2 steps behind everyone else
He starts catching up when they're traveling to the shrine, but he backslid hard and is trying to catch up again.

Sessine doesn't want Duane to see Sette as anything except replacement Miki, and then to stop paying close attention to her at all. If he began pondering over her and her peculiarities, he might throw a brake on whatever plan is in motion. Duane barely knows anything about her at all, when you get right down to it.

It's frustrating seeing them play into Lady I's hand, but I find it bard to blame Duane for not having more insight when she so thoroughly has his number.
You're joking and/or trolling right?
"Duane has a crush on Sette" can not be your actual takeaway from this page.
That's Sette playing off someone's genuine concern for her because she doesn't know how to handle it.
[...] >Tittybird, however, has Duane caught deep in her dickmancy

I'm under no delusions as to how this will end. Cope is not insane, (probably) not a pedo enabler, and definitely doesn't want to get chewed up and spit out by her fans. I doubt she will even revisit this level of casual banter and flirting in the newer pages. However you'd have to be rather delusional not to see the obvious subtext in the earlier pages. There is a paternal instinct in Duane and Sette has deep-seated daddy issues, but it's not as simple and one-dimensional as just that. It's all that it'll amount to in the end, of course, and they are in a 100% platonic relationship, but a relationship it is.
People forget that Cope would talk openly and non-judgmentally about pedophilia in the early formspring and tumblr days because this is what the comic she wanted to make inevitably invited. Eventually had to put a stop to it because it had begun to overshadow the sort of discourse she preferred, i.e. about the comic and the story. That's not to say this was never an aspect.

Listen I don't want to press this issue and endanger/embarrass Cope in any way that would force her to rewrite or deny parts of this comic in order to save her own skin. It's perfect the way it is. It's what I like about Duane and Sette's relationship, they have a bond and friendship that is basically undefineable. They share tender moment of genuine affection, Duane cares for Sette like the daughter who was robbed from him and Sette cares for Duane like the father figure she should have had but never did, and yet they can nag one another like husband and wife and have playful banter like frisky mates. I've already stated that I believe them to be platonic, this isn't e-girlta, this isn't pedobait, yet I also cannot see their relationship as something as simple as just a father/daughter bond. In my mind, Duane and Sette have a love, not a sexual one, and a love that while platonic has always had a sharp, razor-thin fringe of implied romance to it.
That's not just me reading too far into it, it's how Cope wrote them, and wrote them well. Cope writes about extremely adult and nuanced themes. Don't forget this.

It really is you reading too far into it. Sexual humor is just part of the crass Sharte personality.
You also must not be around younger teens a lot irl because they say things to try and shock you all the time. Listen to what they get up to in CoD lobbies, especially when they're talking about fricking people's moms. In reality, they're not fricking anyone's mom nor do they want to (they don't even know what your mom looks like!). They're just saying it to get a rise out of you because that's what teens do, push buttons and get reactions. Which (mentally at least) is what Sette is and how Duane perceives her, a stupid young teenager. Everything else is in your head.

I genuinely do not understand how you could possibly read this comic and interpret Duane as being either romantically or physically attracted to children. There is no text, there is no "subtext" that would give that impression. Yes, Kasslyne is a setting where that type of crime takes place— Starfish is the prominent example of one such individual— but Ashley has always been consistent and earnest in her assertions that Duane does not and will not ever have those proclivities. You even said yourself that theirs is a "platonic" relationship. No one denied that. However, that is absolutely not the same as claiming he has a "crush" on her. You just made a wrong assumption, man, it's not that big of a deal.
What's with all the eels?
Surely this dream world has other forms of life unique to it?
Also if animals prey on souls, does this imply that eventually the number of souls in the khert will run out?
holy shit this is the best Sette dialogue we've had in ages, savvy as a nightstand is goddamn brilliant
>savvy as a nightstand is goddamn brilliant
I am dumb and don't get it. Please educate the dumb readers like me.
the nightstand sees everything you do in bed, it's the mute observer to every perverted trick the prostitute turns
Wait until the realization hits and they comprehend that Duane fricked Sette's mum
I feel like he would have a bigger reaction to being eskimo bros with Ssael
if he still had a heart it would stop from sheer fanboy power
I've had this growing feeling we're going to see an adult Sette in the course of things. Maybe not now but our girl is going to actually grow up.
That's pretty god damned funny
She didn't deny the crush.
Some things are so ridiculous that even refuting them would lend more credence than they deserve. Sette is so firmly asexual that the mere suggestion of a crush doesn't warrant a response.
That's the joke. She thought he meant she has a crush on tiddybird.
>Duane/Sette
She damn sure didn't. Probably why cope wants them to be friends and not a father/daughter combo. It's cute.
Sette's got Da issues
It's Daune's fault for threatening to spank her so much
Why would she? It only makes Duane look more stupid to not even give it a mention.
I know what sex is but I won't tell yah - Sette
Duane typo
Duane is speaking so fast he forgot there's no excuse for poor penmanship
What's the crush implying? I always thought it was like a replacement father/daughter relationship. Still, I did not expect brevity so soon. Classic Sette and Duane, fricking finally.

>childlover
oh man, it's been so long. It's been years of suffering in this comic, I've forgotten the banter.
I think now that he's not projecting Miki onto her they're gonna end up as more travelling companions/friends.
I think Duane is just desperately deflecting. Ash once said Sette is asexual, and I don't think the story has ever really contradicted that.
When girls grow up with absent/shit fathers, they find a surrogate later in life, and then they do sex with them. It's just nature.
I hope nobody ever has to solemnly say "You did sex with her" to me
It's better to not frick chickens in the first place, rather than worry about being found out, anon.
You don't understand the allure of Tittybird's breasts.
The bants is back.
>birdsexual
Maaaan I'm not gonna lie sette describing herself as savvy as a nightstand made my dick twitch just a little.
That Eel looks like it heard and comprehended the ENTIRE conversation.

Is it the big ass snake in Sekiro?
>There's a really blatant video game visual reference on this page and points to the reader who calls it out first :3 I was in a mood!
I'm 99% sure it's Sekiro.
I thought one of the of Mario's scary eels.
"Big snake/dragon thing looms behind a wall/cliff while the protagonists hide from it" isn't exactly a Sekiro original visual, had you not pointed it out I never would have made a connection.
She did, she really likes the game.
She wants to frick Wolf, right
My guess would be that she wants to watch Wolf get fricked, maybe by the main villain, personally
>isn't exactly a Sekiro original visual

I thnk you're right, it's almost certainly this moment where Sekiro inches along a ledge with a frozen waterfall.
?si=E1J7OL55o28RsLYM&t=163
Sette in place of Kuro would definitely make the interactions with Genichiro a bit different. Would this make Matty the Divine Child?
Panel 8 made me think of these guys.
Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what it is, it's got the same expression
I you I you I don't?
Yes, anon. Duane is so flustered he is flubbing his words.
Duane is very easily flustered when the subject of adultery comes up. Well, he still considers it adultery, anyway. Lem would probably laugh, if circumstances were different.
The will-they-wont-they love story between the dead grown man and the little girl, my favorite.
(I know they won't but I enjoy the teasing)
I think they're both just happy to be back in a place where they can needle each other relentlessly.
I just realized theres something else Sekiro and Unsounded have in common
a barefoot waif?
That is a boy anon.
Waif is a unisex term
Funnily enough, Sette having a crush on Duane is where I thought it was going to go at the beginning. A gender reversed Bikini Cowboy.
It's established that he had a crush on her long before. Then he got with tiddybird and she's been semi-jealous ever since. It's a fun, weird dynamic.
>It's established that he had a crush on her long before
crescit what???
that was always a father-daughter thing though.
Tittybird, however, has Duane caught deep in her dickmancy
Doesn't count it was a ghost memory dick
Man stuck his spirit dick in a birdd
Such a bold and novel webcomic to depict ERP on panel.
