So I'm taking it that this is a different forest of babies from the one Sette was in earlier.
Same one. She was the one who cut that cord that's now tied back together. But she didn't fall into the nest last time.
Last time, we saw Lady I carrying babies to the nest— so I do believe it is in fact a different forest.
How does that folllow? The whole babby forest isn't natural. All the babbies are tied at the base of the cord.
The forest we saw Sette in the first time had a different floor than this one.
I don't think the shape of the khert can be trusted, it's like a dream that keeps shifting. Tittybird's nest is probably one of the few more stable things in the place.
Sette was probably wandering around at some level in that canopy of babbies last time.
We saw her catch the babies that Sette cut free.
Now we see she tied them again.
You know this is amazing and great, but thinking of how sette's powers work makes me think of starfish. That loose end is just there and has been for like what 30 pages?

You know, to be rather blunt, I'm not sure it has occurred to Sette, or if she even knows, that if Duane ever got tired of her he could just core leech her and be done with it. HE'S the wright, SHE is not. The extent to which Sette feels comfortable antagonizing the terrifying battle wizard speaks volumes of how kindly Duane consistently treats her.
That's not a unique thing in the world of Kasslyn though. People who aren't wrights seem to be in charge of those who are all through the world (except Juste), without fear of unaliving if they're arseholes.
The Queen, ROGER FRICKING FOI-HELLICK, Vampire, Nary, Starfish, Claggart, even Lemon now. It seems far more usual for those with no magical ability to be the ones in charge. And the plats who are best are basically slaves.
Even in our world many people abuse underlings that could snap their neck like a cracker. Most humans won't attack others unless they have a very good reason.
I wonder why that is, given the power gap between the wrights and normies. Pymarics level it up but even that was a wright creation.

Martial pymary is a relatively new invention, as far as the scale of humanity is concerned. It didn't really exist until Ssael, and by then armies and governments had managed to control the continent just fine. Now all new wrights need to be rited by the government, which handily prevents any sort of magical uprising.

There's also the fact that Duane is by and large a decent person and not likely to horribly and painfully murder someone because he dislikes them.
