They’re one scar horizontal down each eye, though. That seems a lot more like someone took a pair of knives and tried to blind Ssael in a downward stroke, rather than another slap.
nah man he already got them - the vertical scars were stylized symbolism of Ssael getting his eyes scratched/cut out, which, Duane been there done that
i really hope this doesn't end up meaning murkoph is duane
i just... really hope that's not the direction ashley goes with this
i think that would genuinely make me hate unsounded
yeah and ashley has never lied about plot devlopments (https://unsoundedcomic.tumblr.com/post/698370375097122816/is-that-mason-there-telling-the-two-plat-kids-how)
I THINK we're safe on that front
From the look of him, if he's Aldish he has the look of a Bronze and doesn't really resemble Duane in any other aspects I can think of, which I think there would be more similarities if they were setting up a reveal like that
It’s much more likely Murkoph’s scars were carved into him to mock his Ssaelit faith. He’s a bronze, Duane is a gold— they have nothing to do with each other.
It’s more likely he was the Ssaelit assassin who was present when Duane died. We know the perpetrators were hunted down and tortured, it’s quite possible something special was done to him by Alderode— being made rotting filth would also be a great way to mock a Ssaelit.
The impression he gives of himself is more that he was a rogue serial killer, and felt like he was from an older time, Khert timey wimey frickeries aside
That’s the impression he gave when his sanity and sense of self was totally broken.
One thing we do know is that he was almost assuredly a sailor at one point, and may have been an Aldish sailor who was part of trading routes to places like Sharteshane. And he may have converted to Ssaelism, rather than been born to it.
The reason I'm thinking it's possible other than the scars is Tittybird telling Murkoph "I must smash to bits the mistake we made"
Which seemed to be Sessine talking about some old development with Murkoph/Ssael. But what if that "mistake" was what's going on right here, right now? There's time frickery going on for sure
Oh, I like this one. We know there have been Settes in the past because of what Minnow said. But why would Tittybird set Sette on a journey with a murderer/rapist. Unless Sette met him the Khert by accident and that's why she ran away... BUT while in the Khert he heals all wounds like when he ate his finger, so if she left a scar on him it had to be while he was alive
I mean if you think Tittybird is responsible for each Sette incarnation, she's put Sette into the care of an abusive criminal, had her fight off a pedophile rapist, and just generally put her through the ringer.
True, I forgot she put her into Nary's custody. Maybe Tittybird believes that shit builds character or something idk. Sette turning out so good, in that we've seen her wanting to protect her friends because she loves them and doesn't want to kill innocent people or kids, despite Nary being so evil makes a real argument about nature vs nurture.
>But why would Tittybird set Sette on a journey with a murderer/rapist.
Perhaps Sette's traveling companion must have an intense personality and top notch skills for the plan to suceed. Technically Duane is still a cannibalisic plod. If Sette didn't have that amulet, this story might have ended early. Perhaps past Sette didn't get an anti-rape/murder whistle like present Sette's plod protectin.

We've already seen that Duane isn't the textbook murderer that lemon is. And even lemon seemed to draw the line at pack rape, as we saw when he got pissed when Mikaila asked if he was going to go dive in.
Murkoph is Sette’s brother, a soul trapped in an undying body causing each of Sette’s twin brothers to be stillborn since. >he’s bodily in the khert, which should be impossible and only Sette and Sessine has been shown doing >he’s Aldish, and Sette’s given name is Tainish >he’s confirmed Ssaelit in QA and has Ssaelit scars >being presumably Bronze and Ssaelit means he was born sometime after Ssael as he helped create the dammakhert >Sessine has mentioned him being imprisoned and made into a monster. I think it can be read three ways: being stuck in an undying body, stuck in the khert itself, AND being warped by the dammakhert >Murkoph’s big speech about his reputation of being feared and hated
I’m guessing he’s the OG Etalarche, Ssael’s traitorous grandson and namesake of the curse. I think the lion soul in the khert might be Ssael himself.
She isn't responsible for Duane's death specifically though. He hates her as the Queen of Cresce as any Aldish Patriot should, but he particularly hates her because he believes she orchestrated his death when she really had nothing to do with it. Where do you think the guards were during the hit? Do you think it's likely Cresce has enough pull to mess with Aldish guard shifts, or is it more reasonable that the Aldish government gave its silent approval to Bastion's plan to get a tacit caster plod? How did Lemuel get the corpse afterwards? There's WAY too many questions around the assassination if we assume it's Cresce-motivated, but it all becomes much easier to explain when viewed from the lens of it being a false flag
Alderode's expansionist colonisation efforts are to blame for the current war.
Or you can blame the centuries of conflict between the two nations creating the inertia of the war, but then you can't blame any specific head of state for not rolling over and surrendering.
The actual "catalyst" for the current flare up is Sonorie's secret plans to make an army of Uaid's by secreting away the trolls they found in Alderode's underground. If there's any "blame" to truly be placed, it's Cresce. Indeed, it's only possible BECAUSE of her crossing the border tipping Alderode off to those tunnels and allowing them to extend their logistic frontline past the demilitarized wasteland of the overworld border.
But obviously the actual violence is far in excess of that some what piddly border violation. Nor can it really be overlooked that Alderode's colonialism codifies the kind of horror and violence that "normal" nations merely accept as the by product of wars. Though it's not even the worst of what's happening, is it? Its ironic to think that Alderode current expansion is both beyond what was called for by Cresce's incursion, but if they knew what the Queen was "really" up to they'd probably be justified in going much further. The ultimate irony of all things. In principle, what little we suspect of Sonorie's plans kind of puts her in the upper tier of "doing something abominable for a good reason." But in practice, it legitimately seems the lesser of two evils and those on both sides trying to kill her, and in total ignorance of her plans, are probably making things worse.
It's interesting to think how much people hate Sonorie just for her "figurehead" position. They'd hate anyone in her position just the same. Few know there's actual, specific reasons to hate the real individual currently occupying the role.
>Alderode's expansionist colonisation efforts are to blame for the current war.
No, that was science b***h on a secret mission into Alderode during their civil war, a mission the queen sent her on.
Also Cresce is the more colonial power in this world. See their adventures in Ulstery.
Not to condone Alderode's wartime conduct or Duane's tantruming, but Cresce is 100% to blame for this war. They instigated the Foi-Hellick Affair. They were palnning a fresh campaign using new weapons and engaging in shaping operations with spies/saboteurs, compelling Alderode to strike first.

Alds still depend on the Dammakhert to maintain their deeply culturally entrenched castes, something that every other nation and people on the continent view with horror
Plus they still hold anti-monarchist, and certainly anti-matriarchal views. The Aldish version of the Gefendur even elevates the male twins over the female gods
There's plenty of reasons for Gefendur Alds to hate Cresce AND their Ssaelit countrymen

Lol this is what my boomer dad says every time Israeli war crimes come up.
Yeah not sure if that's something she's convinced herself into believing somehow in this moment or if she's just trying to dissuade Duane from running back to Alderode by saying it

Patreon comment: >Duane's very first F-bomb, in case you were wondering. He's never been one for the really uncouth language unless he has need to threaten or insult a child lol
>Ashley says we are in for a heroic turn around after this
I'm struggling to imagine what it could be, unless it's just Toma and Elka somehow 2v1ing Ruck and saving Chea. At the very least, I think Duane is a lost cause this book.
I kinda agree, though he's gonna have to do something particularly badass and heroic to make up for the shit he's pulling right now. Especially since he already went through the "my hate is turning me into someone I don't wanna be" arc at Litrya Shrine.
Sette's slap, rather than ripping memories out of his head seems to have turned Duane into sudden clarity clarence. Maybe he's extra FRICKING pissed right now at the thought of Mikaela being with lemon, because he's finally got it that lemon whacked him.
A Duane that is finally properly focused could be a hell of a thing.
I dunno, right now he's still blaming the Queen for his problems while adding Sette to the list.
>misplaced
FFS dude, the queen not specifically arranging his murder doesn't make anything misplaced. She would tell you that herself right now.
It is misplaced. His hatred for Sonorie goes far beyond what the average Aldishman would feel. He is convinced that she specifically ruined his life. He literally says his first Frick about Sonorie bringing "further harm to my family" even though she wasn't involved in what happened to his family.
He'll say it in a fit of anger of course. She literally tried to mind control him, that's going to backfire.

Sette's mindcontrol charm is flapping around again here as well. Its interesting its most visible when she's red-eyed angry with Duane and telling him he knows nothing, but becomes concealed again when she's shocked by the revelation.
That was calmer minded Duane who didn't know his daughter was alive though. Currently frothing at the mouth Duane would be more likely to go for the jugular.

Literally using his one PG-13 "frick" to go on about the Queen.
In truth he's probably so angry because he still can't consciously accept the obvious: it was his own blood and country men who are responsible for what happened, and not the people he's been taught to hate his entire life. Makes me wonder how suspect his bit about how Sonorie triggered the Foi-Hellick Affair with a gift really is.
Obviously the truth is she WAS in with them, but not in the way everyone thought since she really cared about ROGER'S part in the plan and not some sideshow rebellion. Which continues to outline how distinct she is from butchers like Bell: Bell revels in petty violence and bloodshed, seeing it as worthy and glorious. Whereas Sonorie recoils at the obvious indulgence of such activity and so plot even deeper, more serious crimes against the soul.

True, he's not full on losing it, but "Frothing at the mouth" is a usual term for his current unhinged behavior. The problem is Duane can get even more unhinged than usual for a person.

That's kind of my point though. I think he's just starting to become hinged since that slap. He just said Mikaila is alive for the first time, even after wandering around for a while in the khert with her coat. Given his anger at the thought of her being raised by lemon on this page he might even say he knows lemon was in on his murder next.
The final slap I've awaken
To the truth I wish I had listened
By love's bright light I was blinded
But now I see cause my eyes are wide open
Sette wants Duane to be her dad so bad. It's kinda annoying how long it's taking her to admit Duane at his worst is still better than her Da at his best.
I think that's not even on the table right now. Sette's watching Duane, the guy who supposedly loves kids and tries to protect them whenever possible, take deliberate steps to stop Sette from saving a young girl just so the misplaced focus of his hate will die.
Nah mate, look at the page, her entire demeanor changed when Dwayne mentioned his real daughter being alive. She instantly went from anger and vengeful to frightened Djion will split. Sette, despite being nice sometimes, wouldn't bat an eye to some random dying.
Sette won't let Duane see his daughter. Doesn't want him to be her new Da. The frick does she want from him?
And yeah I agree. This goes beyond wanting her to be her father at this point.
I think him acting like this has pretty much sealed the deal on him never being a father figure to her. She's always going to know that he was one step away from hurting her like her Da did even if he turns it around after this.
>Duane already has the vertical scar over each eye from when his eyes were gouged out mid-murder >Duane now has the three scars across the middle of his face >a certain figure very important to Duane also happens to have this exact same facial scarring
Is this still not finished yet? I forget where I stopped. I told myself I'd wait until it was finished to finish it. I thought she was finishing it soon.
Fair enough. I've not kept up with it very much. The last bit I remember reading was the guys being attacked in a library and a big explosion or something.
Completely serious. Though it hopefully won't take another decade to complete. Ashley has taken note that she's getting older. Originally it was going to be 3 books, but she cut it down to 2.
I mean, she has kept it pretty consistent over the last decade or so. But if she wants to do it all (outside of the odd page) then probably for the best. I'll wait until book 1 is done and read it then. Thanks.
Completely serious. Though it hopefully won't take another decade to complete. Ashley has taken note that she's getting older. Originally it was going to be 3 books, but she cut it down to 2.
Why is he so sure that the Queen is responsible? I always figured that message from the "crescians" and the ensuing public executions was a clear misidrection of deeper mechanisms at play.
Because that was the lie that he was initially fed and lived with for all the years he's suffered as a zombie, and the truth he's just learned is much much more painful to swallow.
But esteemed Anon, Alderode - the pure and true State of Two Faiths - would never sully itself with things so base only perfidious Cresce and it's ilk deal in!
Like, you know, going on the record telling lies. Alderode would never!
That's it, I'm done - Dwayne is Ssael and Sette is the lion that killed him. Each time they reincarnate, they're always destined to hurt and eventually kill each other. For the added irony, Sette kills him in self-defence and his next isekai stop is ancient Rain with his weird soul retaining enough memory to roleplay him.
You know, she's not omniscient, might have not realised that particular connection. Or another tack - if she doesn't manipulate Dwoon here, she wouldn't ever have gotten Ssael. A soul literally so angry at it's daughter's NTR that it went on to become a god.
UH OH THOSE SCARS. >Sette having to play the voice of reason and empathy now after Duane did for her after seeing her worst memory
The back and forth between these two is gut wrenching. Mikaila's cloak is also back on the stage. Is Sette going to touch it and see the memories associated with it soon?
Euch, that hand, and the nails falling off... Some prime hand horror going on there. I'm guessing they'll remain retractable but I'd prefer if her fingertips didn't split wide open each time...
The original Ssael was mauled by lions, the slashes are just a tidier representation of that. Just like Jesus is portrayed with a lot more dignity than he would've had when he was crucified.
Noone ever posts full patreon pages, which would be a wanker move. But there's nothing wrong with posting a snipped panel, and it's not "the first time". If you pay attention you might notice that sometimes they're actually bigger than patreon res.
Since we're talking about the assassination again, the goal was to stall the rebalancing agenda by associating anti-Ssaelit sentiment with Cresce, right?
probably a mix of that, wanting to keep the pissmops down, and someone was either working with Bastion or owed him a favor. iirc he needed a tacit and/or innate caster.
hey dont those claw marks kind of look like. you know.

At best it was a brief armistice, they're still two rival nations that have never truly made peace. Not to mention by its very nature Alderode needs to conquer and replace to expand their damakhert influence
and how many years of non-war was it before that? what is this cope? the comment was alderode started the current war, from someone defending the queen, and alderode didn't man. she did.
The war never ceased, they've been hostile nations for generations. I don't know if either nation really "started" the conflict, they've been butting heads are two opposing world powers are wont to do.
I thought it was a 30 Years War type of thing where the Aldish declared their heresy and the war has been on ever since when Cresce tried to stamp it out.
If that were the case, why would Gefender Alds be so committed to war against Cresce? It's not about religion.
The Reformation Wars were fricking complicated, bro. Sometimes geopolitics made enemies even between peoples of the same religious faction.
We see Queen Sonorie talk about how she inherited a thousand years of blood, and alderode and cresce have been at war for so long that old crescian badges/standards have vliegeng on them, their histories are very entwined
>The war's been going on for centuries with both sides undermining each other.
Lol this is what my boomer dad says every time Israeli war crimes come up.
I see what you did there
>Ssael's scars
>no say
Pretty sure Sette would expect both herself and her da to have a say if some scheming wanker uncle tried to take over.
Yeah not sure if that's something she's convinced herself into believing somehow in this moment or if she's just trying to dissuade Duane from running back to Alderode by saying it

>Duane's very first F-bomb, in case you were wondering. He's never been one for the really uncouth language unless he has need to threaten or insult a child lol
>D8
>Duane's first frick
I was wondering why it felt so strong
>unless he has need to threaten or insult a child lol
no one is better at bullying Duane than Ashley, truly.
>you or the fricking queen
Sette is about to have a clear case of self defense on her hands.
Duanecoin (DUNC) is in freefall as we speak.
It's not a great day to be a Duane defender, I'll tell you that.
Is this the first time Duane's dropped an F-bomb?
>Remember, no Tainish
>The claws push up Sette's nails
Frick, that's an extra detail I didn't want to see
>Ashley says we are in for a heroic turn around after this
I'm struggling to imagine what it could be, unless it's just Toma and Elka somehow 2v1ing Ruck and saving Chea. At the very least, I think Duane is a lost cause this book.
He HAS to come to his senses somehow. It'd be such a disappointing resolution to his entire arc through the book if none of it mattered.
It is misplaced. His hatred for Sonorie goes far beyond what the average Aldishman would feel. He is convinced that she specifically ruined his life. He literally says his first Frick about Sonorie bringing "further harm to my family" even though she wasn't involved in what happened to his family.
Wait until he says he doesn't love her. She's going to straight for the eyes.
He does though.
I can't believe character development somehow turned him into an even worse person
That was calmer minded Duane who didn't know his daughter was alive though. Currently frothing at the mouth Duane would be more likely to go for the jugular.
>Currently frothing at the mouth
Is he really though?
He seems more with it than he has in a while though. Full out of control Duane is pic related.
Meant for
True, he's not full on losing it, but "Frothing at the mouth" is a usual term for his current unhinged behavior.
Frick off Timofey.
This goes beyond her wanting a better dad.
>misplaced
FFS dude, the queen not specifically arranging his murder doesn't make anything misplaced. She would tell you that herself right now.
Duane please stop posting and let Sette save Chea.
>The frick does she want
>want the frick she does
I think him acting like this has pretty much sealed the deal on him never being a father figure to her. She's always going to know that he was one step away from hurting her like her Da did even if he turns it around after this.
>Duane already has the vertical scar over each eye from when his eyes were gouged out mid-murder
>Duane now has the three scars across the middle of his face
>a certain figure very important to Duane also happens to have this exact same facial scarring
HMMMMMMMMMM
"Mikaela's not dead" snapped Sette right out of Tittybird-mode.
Wouldn't it be funny if Mikaela not dying that night was the one frickup in Tittybird's whole convoluted scheme.
>Duane my 2nd dad
>Oh shit, his daughter is still alive
yeah, it was more though.
>red eyes back to green
>oh fugg
>I have an older sister that has a sweet ride and has way less poofery about blowing shit up than duane
I like how the eels are shocked hearing the news that Miki's alive too.
that eel in panel 3 is like "bro wtf"
Is this still not finished yet? I forget where I stopped. I told myself I'd wait until it was finished to finish it. I thought she was finishing it soon.
It's the final chapter of book 1 of 2.
So it won't be fully completed for like another decade lol.
Oh god you're not serious?
Yeah that's what I heard, but is there another book then? So another decade?
We're not even halfway through baybeee
Fair enough. I've not kept up with it very much. The last bit I remember reading was the guys being attacked in a library and a big explosion or something.
This book is almost finished. If you're that serious about waiting, just wait a little while longer.
C'mon Cope, frick me up more, let's have these two split on the absolute worst terms for god knows how many years
Why is he so sure that the Queen is responsible? I always figured that message from the "crescians" and the ensuing public executions was a clear misidrection of deeper mechanisms at play.
Because that was the lie that he was initially fed and lived with for all the years he's suffered as a zombie, and the truth he's just learned is much much more painful to swallow.
Imagine you're Duane. Bastion was in the room with her right now until he disappeared with the Devin-looking motherfricker. Pretty sus.
I'm pretty sure Duane has zero idea who Bastion is.
I agree, but you have to admit the situation wouldn't be better if he did know how Bastion was.
No, probably not.
because the alternative is that the country he grew up in and fought for murdered him?
But esteemed Anon, Alderode - the pure and true State of Two Faiths - would never sully itself with things so base only perfidious Cresce and it's ilk deal in!
Like, you know, going on the record telling lies. Alderode would never!
Hello Cope
I wish
Because if it's not her, then he has to accept that it was his brother.
Sette triggered the shit out of Duane lmao. >Yeah your daughter runs in the arms of another man calling him papa now.
WHAT'S WITH ALL THE NTR
>Duane just straight up swearing with no wit to it
oh he's mad
That's it, I'm done - Dwayne is Ssael and Sette is the lion that killed him. Each time they reincarnate, they're always destined to hurt and eventually kill each other. For the added irony, Sette kills him in self-defence and his next isekai stop is ancient Rain with his weird soul retaining enough memory to roleplay him.
INB4 Ashley is not a hack
I dunno, Tittybird seems to genuinely care about Ssael, whoever/whatever Ssael is. But she's being pretty cruel and manipulative to Duane.
You know, she's not omniscient, might have not realised that particular connection. Or another tack - if she doesn't manipulate Dwoon here, she wouldn't ever have gotten Ssael. A soul literally so angry at it's daughter's NTR that it went on to become a god.
She may not be omniscient, but she is (probably) the smartest being and inside the khert which records literally all history.
>with his weird soul
>ICICLE DISASTERRRRRRR
>Each time they reincarnate, they're always destined to hurt and eventually kill each other.
Hey I've read this story.
Duane's already dead, and Sette didn't do it. She dindu nuffin
Didn’t Ashley say she hates reincarnation stories?
frick kinda lion got bone blades coming out of their hands (yes, hands)? I think sette's weirder than that
Kasslynian lions have human hands
that's what I said
So what's the verdict? Is this scene giving out more life stripping vibes or last sin feeding vibes?
UH OH THOSE SCARS.
>Sette having to play the voice of reason and empathy now after Duane did for her after seeing her worst memory
The back and forth between these two is gut wrenching. Mikaila's cloak is also back on the stage. Is Sette going to touch it and see the memories associated with it soon?
First time we see Duane express rage about Lemon being Miki's father now.
Careful, the floor is memories
>that eel in the upper left
WORLDSTAR
The floor is TIME bro
OH MY GOD, IT'S FULL OF TIME
Euch, that hand, and the nails falling off... Some prime hand horror going on there. I'm guessing they'll remain retractable but I'd prefer if her fingertips didn't split wide open each time...
So was a previous Sette the one who slashed original Ssael?
The original Ssael was mauled by lions, the slashes are just a tidier representation of that. Just like Jesus is portrayed with a lot more dignity than he would've had when he was crucified.
Jesus might have just been tied to a cross, does that mean ssael was held in bondage by furries ? Now I get why it's called "Unsounded".
>The original Ssael was mauled by lions
Anon... are you trying to pretend you haven't looked at Sette's hindquarters a single time?
human girl with a human tail. whats your point?
I don't think we've ever seen Duane act quite like this, let alone to Sette.
This might be the most peeved Duane's ever been
i can't believe duane said a frick word in my christian manga
sette's hand looks like it hurts like a b***h
There are many, many things going on in this page.
anyone noticed for the first time there is a weirdo posting patreon res caps
can you like
not
this is the land of the free, crescian scum
Yeah, the land where you're free to hire some Beadman's Better Beaters when someone tries undercutting the business
good thing i bought some beadman's better landmines then
Noone ever posts full patreon pages, which would be a wanker move. But there's nothing wrong with posting a snipped panel, and it's not "the first time". If you pay attention you might notice that sometimes they're actually bigger than patreon res.
>Noone ever posts full patreon pages
IIRC somebody posted one recently, but downscaled to the webpage size to troll the schizo, I chuckled a bit
>If you pay attention you might notice that sometimes they're actually bigger than patreon res
Cope basado
I just realized that Sabro didn't look at the painting. Guess he just went home after knowing his sister was safe
Frick wrong thread
Why’s Duane’s physical body falling into the khert in second last panel here?
Is it art or is it actually happening?
That's Sette recalling when Lem decapitated Duane
Remembering that lemon is a motherfricker, but still telling Duane he's Mikaila's da now.
>If you or the fricking queen brings further harm to my family
He doesn't know
Lem is totally escaping. His vliegeng is overhead and he has his rocket boots.
I will bet that he's gone for a good period of book 2
you know, I had actually forgotten about the zombie crows.
Silly ol' me.
But Lem's an butthole. I want him to die.
Thread is still going? Based
You gotta admit those scars are a huge light bulb moment for speculation.
this feels like a comic that will only have a happy ending if you quit reading it.
Still waiting on that Sette/Juvi kiss.
Or at least a peck on her cheek (face)
She kissed her hand and then slapped him with it last chapter, that's about as affectionate as she knows how to be
Since we're talking about the assassination again, the goal was to stall the rebalancing agenda by associating anti-Ssaelit sentiment with Cresce, right?
probably a mix of that, wanting to keep the pissmops down, and someone was either working with Bastion or owed him a favor. iirc he needed a tacit and/or innate caster.
