Just like the last two times you started this thread; nobody enjoyed it, let alone enough to pay for any of it.
/thread
Well, I didn't see those old threads so they don't count.
I liked it and paid for it. The Batwoman who laughs bit was odd but it probably won't go as we expect. I hope season still has Burnham, if not him it would have to be someone as good as him or Derrington
It makes a bit more sense when you remember Culver wrote the Justice League Incarnate, which is where BWL comes from.
That's fine but the types of people who are into this book want to see Doom Patrol's villains and not Culver's pet characters.
It was ok.
Beast Girl is cute!
I like her horns.
it was woke trash
homie it's Doom Patrol
That doesn't mean it should be woke or progressive
This, they should be Republicans.
Honestly anon, this is the dumbest fricking book to make that complaint
It's the DOOM PATROL
That ain't woke or progressive
Of course it's not woke, but woke means something completely different to the sort of chud who thinks woke and progressive are related. Rebis was the first non-binary superhero in big two comics. Isn't their existence just Morrison shoving their agenda on you or something?
>Isn't their existence just Morrison shoving their agenda on you or something?
Not really, that's why I said that wasn't woke
It's over?
Yeah, final issue came out last Tuesday.
I stopped reading it at the issue where Larry and Cliff go rescue starboy while the rest of the group is doing something actually cool for one page.
I thought it was really fun, cut short, and sad that it's over. Hope we get a new book as the ending implies. Though the stinger? Dogshit. Batwoman Who Laughs.....frick you
I liked it and the art was great.
I only read the first few issues but I enjoyed them for the most part. Probably won't bother picking it up unless I catch a storytime of the whole thing and enjoy it through.
>Bossy chick wearing covid mask
No thanks.
OH MAN, LOOK AT THIS GUY WEARING A COVID MASK, YOU DUMB butthole.
moron.
HURR COVID MASK DURR
Trying to make them more like the X-Men and having metahumans treated like mutants, having the Doom Patrol be buttholes to other superheroes, and having their own Sentinels was a mistake. Everything else was fine.
But all of that worked
Not really
Thing is, those changes basically just turned the Doom Patrol into hypocritical racists against other superheroes out of nowhere. They were always outsiders in the superhero community who didn't get on well with people like Batman or the Green Lanterns, but that's cause they were temperamental jackasses with personality defects. That and metahumans being hunted like animals by the US government is a very recent and not liked twist considering its roots in a rather contentious crossover event aka springing up in part from the Superman Theory invented whole-cloth by Doomsday Clock.
We don't need more books aping the X-men, past or especially present. They didn't need genetics as an excuse to tell other supers to piss off before, why are they starting now?
I like the new status quo because not everyone wins the superhero lottery and most end up supervillains because they can’t adapt
Honestly, it works more for a setting like Marvel or individual cities like Gotham because people there are paranoid to hell and back to begin with before you toss super-powered individuals into the mix. DC's other cities have been shown as generally accepting the fact there's aliens, robots, and self-described freaks running about to the point that even the Doom Patrol are publicly accepted as superheroes despite their abrasive attitudes and off-putting appearances. In DC, supervillainy often ends up presented more like a choice, or in the most extreme examples as the result of pitiable psychosis that make them unable to properly distinguish right from wrong. So doing a total 180 on that is just very, very hard to accept, especially when it doesn't seem like a very uniform status quo among the other books.
That's stupid though you know? Frick that's just making them Morlocks and no one likes the Morlocks.
Emmm, doom patrol was never good.
I bet it's one of those books where people think they like the writing but they actually like the art and have a hard time seperating the two so they just kinda assume they liked it?
most people who like DP like them because of Morrison. The sad reality is that outside of Morrison, DP was never good
They also console themselves in comparing DP to X-Men, when instead, they should compare them to FF
>The sad reality is that outside of Morrison, DP was never good
Actually you're wrong in that John Bryne is the only run of the doom patrol that I consider to be bad.
I mean seriously, how can you not love Arnold Drake's Doom Patrol?
because it's crap, the cover art often was bettter than the story inside, for example vegetable-mineral-dinosaur man is presented differently in the comic itself than on the cover. and I mention the only remotely unique character that had any potential. you get the usual aliums and mad scientists, but the worst offender is that mentallo guy whats his name that marries the elastic girl, he's completely insufferable. also, boy beast became more interesting when he joined TT
Drake also later wrote x-men, and it sucked balls too
>because it's crap
Wow I just can't endorse this and I'm little annoyed how you hijacked my comment to shit on Drake's Doom Patrol. I was making a salient point and you're ruining it with your dogshig opinions about Arnold Drake.
if you don't like my opinion you shoulda prepared the arguments better. I stand by my convictions - drake's run is shit
People only hate Byrnes retroactively because he said gays are like molesters or something
