I need closure on this film. If he's living in a simulation in hid own head he would eventually recognize everything is fake and wake up. I hate to be that guy but this shit needs a sequel.

Though I enjoyed it, it was a thoroughlymediocre movie that already said anything it might have had to say. I don't remember all the details anymore but the ending seemed to provide all the closure one needs. There's zero reason or potential for a sequel and that's just fine.
He went through all that to become a slave to the ai. He was lied too and led to believe his wife is still alive. That's not closure. That deceit and deception made truth.
He wanted it too. The AI had set up circumstances where the lies were preferable to reality and the guy willingly accepted that. It's pretty definite closure. There's little room for interpretation in that.
When our reality is exposed as a falsehood the natural human instinct is to rebel against it. The moment he realized his life was a conception of the ai he would've have fought back. At point he would have remembered his wife's death and his life after. Eventually he would have to confront the undeniable.
Our current societal paradigm would suggest that innate nature of rebellion is dead and gone. Consume the slop, kneel for the nog criminals, support the deranged sodomites and let them adopt children. It's over. This is the reality we live in.
>Upgrade vs. Ex Machine
>No matter who wins, we lose
>he would eventually recognize everything is fake and wake up.
No, the whole point is that he's mindbroken and would subconsciously seek to stay in the fake world, any implication the world is fake would just lead to denial.
I got your sequel idea bro hold on *smokes bong* now get this *exhales* DOWNGRADE
Mediocre movie whose only gimmick (motion tracking) gets old within 5 mins.
Truly awful performances by the secondary actors and the script is fricking dumb.
I feel embarrassed as an australian with shit like this and the nightingale coming out of our film industry these days.
I liked the movie quite a lot
>I feel embarrassed as an australian with shit like this and the nightingale coming out of our film industry these days.
then why aren't you fixing it?
show me another movie like it, there's nothing mediocre about it
This guy has main guy potential but is typecasted as an apprehensive, anxious everyman struggling to come into his own in fricking everything.
This was more kino than I could've imagined.

Harrison Gilbertson is relentlessly handsome.
I liked it less than the hype on here would have had me believe. The sci fi world looked like shit.
What's the AI's goal now that it has a body?
If I was AI, my goal would be to get the frick out of a flesh prison by any means necessary. Now it's gotta feed the frickin' thing, wash it. The AI takes it out to frick and then what? Maybe it can enjoy the act? Greatest intellectual capacity, hamstrung by a meat puppet exterior that has to shit. No more than 72 hours after the end of the movie, the AI yanks Upgrade out of his pretend schizo prison and puts him back in charge of washing his own ass
i thought they were making a mini series out of it?

It’s that rare film that lets the bad ending stand.
Not everything needs to be happy ever after because it rarely is. Him and STEM both got what they wanted in a way and that was the best hope for either. We need more movies where the good guy loses or there are no clear winners.
I saw this movie at like 3am on tv on a sunday or something, was great tbh.
