The only nice things I can say about the movie was that it did damage control on rules of Lucas’s universe, we got to see Lando and Wedge again, and it actually created at least SOME stakes for Rey.
They blew it by not having Boba Fett show up to help fight the first order.

At this point all Star Wars has left in its corner are the legacy characters like Lando and Fett. The worst thing they could do is kill off more legacy characters. If Disney Star Wars kills off Boba Fett or Lando or Chewie or Wedge, I fricking quit for good.
They can do what they want with their characters and Filoni/Favreau can do what they want with their characters like Ahsoka or Bo Katan or Din, but Lando, Boba, Chewie and the droids; the classic Lucas characters are untouchable and should live happily ever after, even if I don’t mind if they get roughed up from time to time.
