Do any anons care about Valiant being back? Milligan is writing Britannia and Punk Mambo again, so I'm a bit hopeful, but also concerned that I've never heard of the artists.

5th time the charm.
This is only really number three, and the second was a big success.
>big success
Lol yeah so big they’re relaunching a few years later
12 years later.
>Becky cloonan writing X-O
Nope. Won’t be reading any of it now. I’ve had enough of non-big 2 companies hiring from the same circles and cliques that’s drove capeshit into the ground.
Jody houser writing faith will be even worse anon. Might be bad enough for SOP material.
Is Cloonan that bad?
To answer OP's question I'm always interested in Valiant but the creative teams have to be good.
The entire comics industry talent pool is just the same group of people, nobody's going to bring in complete outsiders who aren't part of the club unless they're published writers elsewhere.
So is this actually a total reboot, and not a continuation of 2010s Valiant?
>The entire comics industry talent pool is just the same group of people, nobody's going to bring in complete outsiders who aren't part of the club unless they're published writers elsewhere
And this is why the industry went to shit. They don’t scout like used to.
It's basically a gated community and nobody else is allowed in. A lot of the entertainment industry is going that way, but comics is a smaller industry so it's a lot more noticeable that it's always just the same circle of people everywhere.
>a lot of the entertainment industry is going that way
That’s how the entertainment industry has always been. The difference with comics is since it wasn’t such a major money maker it wasn’t so incestuous and many people broke in and were discovered. Now it’s just losers with some connection to Portland or Penguin Random House or Scholastic.
>So is this actually a total reboot, and not a continuation of 2010s Valiant?
It's only a reboot in the sense that Valiant was dead. The new Bloodshot picked up right where the old one left off.
What's a good starting point for a Valiant newbie, OP?
I thought they had Turok.
Idk if dynamite still does but they had it for a long long time.
Probably for the best. I'd hate to see it flop for the, what, fourth time in ten years?
Dynamite lost the rights years ago. I contacted them about if/when their Turok series trade would come out right around 2020-ish (long after that series had come out), and they said they couldn't because the rights had reverted to the original owner.
Serves them right for subjecting us to Ron fricking marz
You're complaining about Marz over Wendig's Turok? Get your priorities in order.
Wendigs OC in name only version was dogshit, yes. But marz run was every bit as bad.
>But marz run was every bit as bad.
>as bad as Wendig's black Turok
Seriously? What the hell happened?
Turok, Magnus and Solar were licensed to Valiant
Long story short: they're from Gold Key Comics from the 60s which is now owned by DreamWorks/Universal Studios
So what you’re saying is we might see Turok hosting the today show one of those days? Making eyes at Dylan and molesting interns? Maybe a peawiener original series?
Savage = Turok
Divinity = Solar
??? = Magnus
I liked a lot of the early relaunch stuff, XO and Harbinger etc. Where it lost me was all the interconnected storylines where I had to read 10 different series just to get what was going on. Is the relaunch stuff worth another try or should I stick the original runs?
Is Bollers still an editor? Should I expect someone getting slapped?
who?
>Milligan
Never wrote anything good.
