Wish may have a strong black female but the Academy Awards aren't going to want to nominate a big-budget bomb. Nimona has a way better chance with its transgender analogy and being written by a very confused girl.
Shame that Nimona chickened out with its ending. The whole movie you saw the general populace being dickheads who eat up everything their government tells them and, suddenly, it turns out that they were all good people ready to love Nimona, they were just mislead.
Yeah. Nimona should not have been revered. So what if the public still fears her after she turned into a giant shadow monster? That's a pretty damn good reason to be afraid of something.
What about the guy who was framed as a regicide and the people shat on him because he was a commoner like them? The populace in Nimona is a piece or shit and didn't deserve their happy ending.
I fricking hate Oscar season because I at most would want a general or two on Cinemaphile and Cinemaphile for shitposting but nothing like this because these threads are the most useless shit, I laugh at the Oscars, but any serious investment over the nominations is fricking stupid because the Oscars suck, they've been terrible since--
Well since forever. >Mutant Mayhem
Not in a million years, decent movie, not the sort of Oscar bait they're looking for in the slightest, same with Trolls, both of those are highly doubtful despite there being no real movies this year.
JESUS CHRIST IT'S NOT EVEN NOVEMBER WHY IS THIS THREAD HERE WE HAVE A WHOLE SEASON OF THE YEAR, TWO ACTUALLY LEFT BEFORE THE OSCARS FRICK OFF.
>Art College 1994 >Chicken for Linda >Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia >Four Souls of Coyote >The Inventor >Mars Express >Robot Dreams
All these and more getting grifted for the latest in cinemaslop. Nominees are all fine movies, but I guarantee you that every single one of them barring Heron will be forgotten in the coming year.
If critics are taken in by it, it might have a shot at a Best International Feature nomination- Waltz with Bashir and Flee are the only two animated films to have gotten recognition though, and they were both documentaries. The Peasants seems more like a period piece by comparison.
>No Super Mario
>But Trolls instead
Omega cringe.
Mario isn't getting nominated. Even people who love the movie don't think it should be nominated. Only the most die hard of nintendies think so.
I want Mario to be nominated because it'd be hilarious and a Mario win might get people to finally change who gets to vote for best animated feature.
Mario winning over Spider-verse would be so funny. Mario better get nominated and it better sweep the animated categories.
Nah it’s to white to get nominated, it’ll probably be spiderverse because that’s the kind of propaganda that the academy loves.
If The LEGO Movie didn’t get nominated, Mario won’t either.
All due respect to Miyazaki, if these are indeed the nominees then Spider-Verse wins by a landslide.
Yes because the Academy shuns anime, the animated award was created to promote toyslop western movies after all.
Why, even the TMNT one has *some* artistic merit compared to being a 2 hour long commercial for the next movie
>TMNT has toys, Spider-Verse doesn't
>but TMNT is art and Spider-Verse is a toy commercial
That's some leaping logic, anon.
I don't think Trolls or TMNT would be nominated over Wish or Chicken Run.
Even Ruby Gillman is more respectable than Trolls

The Boy and the Heron
Elemental
Wish
Spiderverse
Mario
Is a tossup between Boy and the Heron and Spiderverse
Replace Elemental with Chicken Run 2, Wish with Nimona, and Mario with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
>Trolls over Mario
Oh, thats some ol' bullshit right there.

Its just Variety guessing. We won't get a real list for a few more months.
Mario would get in over Trolls
Mario should get a stick up his ass
sure, okay. i'd watch.

The Peasants has potential, but I don’t know if it’ll compete for Animated Feature.

They’re just going to hand it over to Spider-Verse because it’s the most popular one
>toy commercials for children
This is why animation gets no respect.
UM ANIMATION IS NOT FOR CHILDREN! DIDN'T YOU SEE MITCHELLS V THE MACHINES
There's no way that image is real and not a joke, right?
>People still expect Spiderverse to get nominated after the animators abuse controversy lol
>elemental and tmnt
Trolls sweep
