I think season 2 of the revival didn't. But like, Clone High revival was honestly worse than Velma because it was way more boring. People got mad at Velma feeling they were watching an edgy desecration of their childhoods, Clone High revival was too unfunny compared to the original to be good and way too bland to be hatewatched because it tried to be the original with none of the edge
Why do creators have to follow modern sensitivities? Does anyone care if a show was offensive, if they want it back, they want the whole thing.

Eh, it wasn't even a "modern sensitivities" thing. It was overcompensating for what it once was.
You really see it with how they handle JFK where the horniness was left in and the shallowness was left out

Velma is not offensive is puke inducing. I love the humor of "white people bad".
Despite Velma being objectively and all around terrible, you can at least say that it is entertaining in the many ways it chooses to be terrible. In that way, it's like a trainwreck in motion.
Clone High, on the other hand, was like a tipped over garbage can. It's a mess, but there's nothing to really see there. It's just trash and trash is boring.

Pretty much and that's likely also why season 2 isn't getting the hate watch numbers that 1 did.
Like, once the initial shock of using the Scooby Doo IP wears off for this, what the hell is there left to talk about? It just becomes a show desperately trying to appeal to what it thinks Gen Z likes

I wouldn't even say that. It's really just Mindy bitterly ranting about thing she hates.

Nah, there is some clear attempted pandering to Gen Z in there. I watched season 2 and there's an episode about Gen Z dishing on their Gen X parents and 80s movies and it's the most uncanny shit since Z is fairly neutral on Gen X even when they have their parental issues

Velma is overall out of the top 10 entirely.

I don't think it was hatewatching at first as much as it was morbid curiosity. Same as with Rings of Power. Everyone heard it was bad and dumb, and thought "I gotta see how much this sucks for myself!" and then just got bored after the first episode or two and decided not to finish watching.

>Scrappy kills Velma >everyone loves Scrappy now
Good. Hating him for Scooby Doo falling into a rut was always bullshit. There were worse characters, like Scooby Dum.
This is like when a comic claims to be an Amazon bestseller.
Yup. For about a couple days until a newer comic comes out. In a market so slow, it's super easy to become the bestseller.
This is in comparison to other max shows, not compared to shows on a popular streaming service.
Also >5th most watched on max today
meaning the average rank is likely much lower
God I fricking love hate watching and hate posting about shows I hate. I love obsessing over trash. I love not talking about stuff I enjoy and instead focusing on things I HATE.
Why not? It's fun to do so, and watching things you hate and discussing them is still broadening your horizons, trying new things, and getting a more nuanced grasp over the medium, even when it's discussing how to frick it up royal.
>5Th >Max
There literally nothing on max and it can’t even make it on 1st. Max a dying steaming service. Cinemaphileumblr need to stop sucking corporate Dick.
Curb? I really don't get why The Cable Network That's So Edgy And Cable And This is What The Pansy Networks and Murdoch Won't Tell You decided to kill itself with a pivot to a gimmick.
There comes a point where more people are probably just watching it normally instead of hatewatching. Like if you hatewatch 2 seasons, you're just a fan with extra steps.
Didn't they brag that the first season was the most watched original cartoon on Max premiering on a Tuesday? Now the second season is only fifth? Quite the drop.
Was this yesterday? According to MAX itself, the top 10 series today are
>The Jinx >Happily Ever After? >The Sympathizer >Conan O'Brien Must Go >Caught! >Last Week Tonight with John Oliver >Real Time With Bill Maher >Ninja Kamui >Evil Lives Here >Velma
holy shit imagine being that bad, imagine turning a beloved IP for decades toxic and forever killing the brand. All this fricking trash above it wow not a single thing above 5/10 max is truly fricking garbage
Wait, do people actually go out of their way to stream John Oliver and Bill Maher? I can understand Conan's travel show, but I always thought these second-tier late night show hosts are only watched by people who channel surf and don't have anything better on TV
Velma is like watching a car accident, you know that you shouldn’t be looking at it, but deep down there’s this morbid fascination that drives you to look and take it all in. It’s an awful predicament.
Really? Because I have no issues turning my head away. The only shit I know about Velma is from the one terrible episode I watched (pirated) and then random occasional Cinemaphile threads. I can't imagine what kind of brain damage would be necessary to actually "take it all in".
Watching the first and last episodes is a trip. The writers don't trust the audience to have watched any episodes so characters exposit to each other for every major scene.
They're admitting to themselves that nothing in the show is worth watching at all.
>keep hate watching
You'll never be able to convince me that the people hate watching are doing so through official means. Even if you showed me hard evidence, I'd still believe it's only people watching clips on Youtube or full eps on illicitly free streaming sites
on "max us today?" what the frick even is that? Lemme guess, some channel that has only 4 other shows on it, and 3 of them are local ethnic language community channels. congrats, I guess.
You understand that’s really not a high bar right? It’s #5 just on Max just in the US. That is a hell of a lot of add-ons to make the show seem like it’s doing good. If it were #5 across all streaming services around the world I’d be more impressed
>Youtuber : Hey guys DONT WATCH <cartoon> it just came out on <streaming service>. I know you probably wouldn't have watched it but let me tell you it's available right now to watch, and I've watched it! So you shouldn't watch it."
Damn, viewer numbers are that bad in general that any pile of crap breaks into the top 5?
>On Max, a streaming service no one had
>In the United States
What a high bar
>grasping at straws
>w-w-well you see if you add this, and sprinkle that.. its not that.. impressive!
It's not though. And stutterposting like a homosexual isn't an argument.
>>On Max, a streaming service no one had

It is when you put it that way. Did Clone High even chart?
I think season 2 of the revival didn't. But like, Clone High revival was honestly worse than Velma because it was way more boring. I feel like that's a bit too much of a stretch anon. The point he made is fairly valid.
Honestly, that doesn't sound all that impressive. Good for them, though, I really don't give a shit.
>#5
>on the week it came out

Absolutely nothing.

Black person if you have to add "its 5th place during 12 am on homosexual tv" its bad.
God I fricking love hate watching and hate posting about shows I hate. I love obsessing over trash. I love not talking about stuff I enjoy and instead focusing on things I HATE.
How's your first day on Cinemaphile going?
Frick I wish it was my first day
Me too! I do this! There is actual white foam coming out of my mouth from all the seething I'm doing right now.
Why not? It's fun to do so, and watching things you hate and discussing them is still broadening your horizons, trying new things, and getting a more nuanced grasp over the medium, even when it's discussing how to frick it up royal.
Please have a nice day
Congrats, you've summed up the past decade on Cinemaphile.
Not watching were there any more kiss or sex scenes
>on Max
Shit bait, OP.
>#5 on the 6th most popular streaming service
Not impressive.
>Max US
Yeah
>5Th
>Max
There literally nothing on max and it can’t even make it on 1st. Max a dying steaming service. Cinemaphileumblr need to stop sucking corporate Dick.
That's actually pretty bad. Most new seasons of stuff seem to hit number 1 for a day or two.
And since they dumped all episodes on day one, that shit's going to plummet soon.
Out of curiosity, what are 6-10, for comparison?
Seeing as OP didn't give us any other context, I'll just assume it had 1 viewer, being OP, and it was overtaken by 4 shows with 2 viewers.
I wouldn't watch this garbage if i got paid to do it
Why are zoomers so mentally ill
What is on MAX?
Curb? I really don't get why The Cable Network That's So Edgy And Cable And This is What The Pansy Networks and Murdoch Won't Tell You decided to kill itself with a pivot to a gimmick.

It was obvious that the morons watching this garbage to laugh "ironically" like the show
Literally nothing like the room
I just like watching my favorite YouTubers react to it at this point.
All streaming numbers are self-reported and therefore bullshit
Have you ever considered that normal people actually like the show and internet autists are a very small minority?
No they don't
Then how did the show become number 5?
No way it'd get that far on hate watching alone.
Because Max barely has any shows. The fact it became number 5 instead of number 1 shows no one cares. Even Netflix trash gets more ratings.
That's only true to an extent as the service still has lots of other stuff to watch, especially the older stuff that hasn't been purged from it (Yet).
What seems to be the problem here?
>normal people
Didn't they brag that the first season was the most watched original cartoon on Max premiering on a Tuesday? Now the second season is only fifth? Quite the drop.
>5th most watched show on a streaming platform with nothing else on it and nothing else to compete with in its own little bubble
Lol
Lmao
Nope, still not gonna watch it
cool. it deserves it.
it's still better than another mindless scooby doo movie
...yep, were getting season 3.
It's about as likely as Clone High getting renewed.
Was this yesterday? According to MAX itself, the top 10 series today are

>implying anyone gives a shit about Velma and acknowledge is as even part of the brand
We still got Scooby Doo direct movies coming out with the same cast dynamics and races.
And it will flop, just like the last movie.
And yet the most anticipated one Haunted High Rise was written off.
Nah the brand is fine because they wisely did not allow them to use the franchise's mascot (Scooby) in this dumpster fire of a show.
Wait, do people actually go out of their way to stream John Oliver and Bill Maher? I can understand Conan's travel show, but I always thought these second-tier late night show hosts are only watched by people who channel surf and don't have anything better on TV
>5th
>On max
>Something hardly anyone is sub'd to
Anyone know what 1-4 is so we can laugh harder
hatewatchers need to fricking kill themselves. fricking worthless, no self-control, no money, no b***hes, bums.
Another way to read this is that on a monday evening with no competition it was able to scratch it's way to top 5 temporarily.
I still want a Jabberjaw cameo
my waifu Shelly can beat up Daphne

If you're completely and totally devoid of willpower, maybe. I saw the original trailer and haven't watched a single episode, nor will I.
>everybody is hatewatching!
we've reached unprecedented levels of cope
next you'll be parroting "hatewatch" when people actually like something.
>implying those numbers aren't inflated
Speak for yourself, i’m never gonna watch this quippy LA writer bullshit
remember, filter ALL velma threads. more often than not, they're paid for.
Watching the first and last episodes is a trip. The writers don't trust the audience to have watched any episodes so characters exposit to each other for every major scene.
They're admitting to themselves that nothing in the show is worth watching at all.
i'm here for the chaos atp, let them do a 3rd season lol
>keep hate watching
You'll never be able to convince me that the people hate watching are doing so through official means. Even if you showed me hard evidence, I'd still believe it's only people watching clips on Youtube or full eps on illicitly free streaming sites
It's on Max, a service that's been butchered beyond belief.
reminder, one click is a view.
>top 5 in US.
>Abobawdely mogged out of the worldwide top 10.
There's the twist.

Hm... my country doesn't have Velma in the top anything. Cool.
Actually Oppenheimer is tops. That is superb to me.
wtf is a max us today this is like saying my basket weaving video is the number 1 video in america on basketweaverhub. no one gives a frick.
HBO Max, the Netflix of Warner Discovery (or whatever they are called now).
The name changes are stupid, yes.
>5th most watched on a streamer service that lost many of the viewers it used to have
lol
lmao even
on "max us today?" what the frick even is that? Lemme guess, some channel that has only 4 other shows on it, and 3 of them are local ethnic language community channels. congrats, I guess.
On Max you disingenuous moron
Nobody gives a shit about Max
>can't even be the first on fricking Max
lmao they might need to give the creator another medal
That happened in 2021 before Velma was a thing, and I'm tired of you bringing it up like it's fricking connected to the series.
>5th most watched show
>on Max US
Season 2 is actually a lot better than season 1. So much so that the show actually becomes somewhat enjoyable.
Isn't that unremarkable for a temporary spike with how streaming engagement works
You understand that’s really not a high bar right? It’s #5 just on Max just in the US. That is a hell of a lot of add-ons to make the show seem like it’s doing good. If it were #5 across all streaming services around the world I’d be more impressed
i seriously hope this won't create a trend of hate baiting shows
Fricking youtubers
>Youtuber : Hey guys DONT WATCH <cartoon> it just came out on <streaming service>. I know you probably wouldn't have watched it but let me tell you it's available right now to watch, and I've watched it! So you shouldn't watch it."
I assume most normal average people are idiots, that don't know how to search and view free stuff online. (or think that's bad?)
This world is idiocracy, it has been for a while.
Hate watching is gay and this show is gay, ignore the show and you won't be gay.
