To be entirely honest, bad business acumen. His bankruptcy came from the fact he was still commissioning the same group of established high end pros for his videos. The Charlie video was his attempt to get additional revenue under a more adult channel.
The real irony here is this has to be the funniest bounce-back I've seen in that he did apologize for this but just never addressed Twitter and instead made a video to address his audience in an unlisted video he linked in his own comments section so Twitter wouldn't find it in time to rush him.
