This means more velma-likes BTW, because you homosexuals couldn't stop hatewatching.

They're kinda way ahead if the curb, right? They got a bunch of anime and also their animation studio is shifting to be for older audiences.

sony has the anime market outside japan by the balls. they own CR and FUni, merged them, own Aniplex, Aniplex owns Fate Grand Order and calls the shots more than type moon, PS brand is related with your standard popular anime games adaptions. Disney and Netflix are the only ones who try to make stand against sony but they ended up fricking things up in every region outside the US. Bleach TYBW was a fricking mess if you weren't in the US. it seems this time around they will air the episode worldwide at the same time as japan. the mouse fricked the two biggest weeb regions outside asia. LATAM and Europe. Netflix also does the same thing. As long as Sony's only competitors are stupid. they keep holding the market by the balls

Is this the classic western bullshit where they claim Comic sales are good by pretending Manga are comics, thereby disguising that Comics are a dying medium?

Are they just doing the same shit with anime now, i.e. use the success of an entirely different medium to justify investment in shows that are in fact, not of that medium at all.

      Anonymous

      >thing is somehow a entirely different medium solely by virtue of being made in a different country

        Anonymous

The problem comes when you're trying to monetize based on that.
If you don't have any of the elements that people like about that other media, just having some surface level similarities won't be enough to get people to watch your stuff.

          >just having some surface level similarities won't be enough to get people to watch your stuff.

It does work for those Netflix "anime" made by American and South Korean studios.
This stuff is popular, general audiences don't care if it's made in Japan nearly as much as hardcore weebs do, and weebs are a minority now when it comes to consuming anime.

            >It does work for those Netflix "anime" made by American and South Korean studios.
Not really, the only ones it worked for were Castlevania and arguably Dota, and those were mainly popular because they were adaptations of popular video games.
All the rest were immediately forgotten.
As much as they don't want to hear this, white people don't actually understand why people like anime or manga for the most part.

I'm not white but I know why other Latinos like anime.
It's simple really, and Castlevania + Dota got it right.
It's because they focus on dumb shit like cool action instead garbage like left wing politics.

OP is an idiot. Cartoons aren't like TV shows. It takes a lot longer to make and time to produce it. Cartoons are order in season batches. Season 2 was going to happen no matter what. This is like Netflix Shee-a where they are just finishing up the initial batch they ordered and splitting things up into their own seasons.

This guys correct, Disenchanted and the cartoon with Amy Poehler, despite both failing miserably in viewership, they had multiple seasons. Unlike live action you save a fortune mass ordering for animation

You'd think there would be some kind of show aimed at furries, considering how relatively prevalent they are and how much money they're willing to toss around. Pic related was just too far ahead of its time, I guess. Maybe execs don't want to go through the inevitable trouble a show fandom comprised of furgays would cause and considering the The Absolute State of Helluva Boss I don't blame them

      >You'd think there would be some kind of show aimed at furries, considering how relatively prevalent they are and how much money they're willing to toss around.

You mention Helluva Boss but Vivziepop used to be a furry back when she's an animation student.
She drew the webcomic "Zoophobia" and created a short animation with a furry girl for her thesis.
She and indie animation in general could easily pander to furries and make bank but they're too stupid to "follow the money" which is why artists are so fricking poor.
Artists are generally terrible business people, not always the case tho since Walt Disney used to be a freelance cartoonist and animator before he funded his company, also Matt Groening.
